What happened to EPL?

>EPL used to be so GOAT that the CL winner couldnt make top 4

>that '05-10 domination

what happened since? where did it go so wrong?

England stopped producing players

England stopped producing players

Fergie time ended

I was going to laugh at you but in the 2000s they actually did produce some decent players.

Buying meme players to appease your yank fans. Having no youth recruitment and shite youth academies so you have to rely on mercenaries who come for money.
Disclaimer: buying 16 year olds from france and portugal does not count as developing youth.

Memphis Depay could end up costing Manchester United £34million

Football Leaks have revealed the finer details of United’s deal for the 22-year-old, who was initially believed to be a £20million to £25million recruit.

United paid PSV €34million (£26.7million) for the player before bonuses, with €17million (£13.35million) of the money being paid immediately.

There were then two payments of €8.5million (£6.6million) to be made. One was paid at the end of January this year, with the next due on July 1.

There are also Champions League clauses in Memphis’ deal for the next three seasons. If United reach the semi-final stage of the competition up to and including the 2019/20 season, they would have to pay PSV a further €325,000 (£255,000). If United then make the final, that figure would be €650,000 (£510,000) and then €1.35million (£1million) if they were to win it.

Success in Premier League in the same time frame would cost United a €1.35m payment, but all the additional payment bonuses have been capped at €4million (£3.1million).

The document also states that United have agreed to pay PSV up to €5m, or 10% of the difference of profit from any prospective sale of the Dutch winger, who actually signed a pre-contract agreement a month before he completed his move to Manchester United in June, 2015.

Memphis has been a major disappointment at Old Trafford after making an encouraging start to life at Old Trafford and he has scored just seven goals, two in the Premier League in 39 appearances.

>MEME PLAYERS

Fugg

Everything changed in the summer of 2009. Perez returned to Real Madrid with his Galactico transfer project and, in turn, Barcelona had to respond. In one summer, the respective best player of Man United, Liverpool, Lyon, Milan and Inter all left for Spain. It ruined parity in European competition. Man City's rise to prominence and the growth of the premier league globally also meant that United and Chelsea could no longer financially dominate the rest of the league. Ten years ago, a team like Tottenham would be forced to sell players like Modric and Bale to bigger PL teams. That's not the case anymore. The top 6 teams in the league rarely do business with each other because everyone's got so much money. Arsenal's botched Suarez deal is another example. The top PL teams no longer have a monopoly on the best PL talents in the way Bayern have a monopoly on Bundesliga or Real, Barca and Atletico have a monopoly on La Liga.

There won't be an English cl winner for another decade

Great post. The spread of talent over 6-7 teams means they are irrelevant in Europe.

Ah so that's why the fail so bad

It's england

The reason clubs buy so many meme players is because they dominate shit leagues full of soft pussies and you faggots hype them up to the stratosphere.
And as we all know most scouts use Youtube highlight compilations to scout players so they can save time for kiddie fiddling.

>€34million
sounds like an italian job

well done!

>memepiss degay

Tiki Taka happened.

>epl

they actually changed the name because EVERYONE hates brits they don't want to even be reminded the league is british

The Scots don't play in the English Premier league numpty, it is in no way British

Non-brits are the only ones that refer to it as the "bpl" or "epl".

Both are incorrect.

but OP is british

if england were allowed to concentrate all their money in 1 or 2 teams they'd be competitive in the CL again.
every year only 3 teams have a chance to realistically win the CL. and those three teams are miles a head of everyone else in their respective leagues that it makes their leagues not worth watching for the race.
so, you either have CL trophies and boring leagues or you open up your league and forfeit the CL because no one team is strong enough to dominate europe. personally i'd take the league excitment because it makes for many more exciting and meaningful games. the CL doesn't get good until the round of 16 and there's not that many games left.

Man Utd will win it next season.

They have too much money so they can't bother to develop players anymore, instead they buy dabbing dembele for 1000000000089 trillion zimbawhe coins and hope he doesn't flop

yeah, this is about right. Good post.
Probably not enough memes in the post to get too many replies so here's my totally useless one.

wouldn't the "b" stand for Barclays?

By thee teams do you mean Real, Juve and Leipzig?

Buyout clauses are also a factor. In Spain, Real or Barca can force a club to sell their best player by triggering the clause. Off the top of my head I can only recall Kante being bought that way in England.

actually a really sensible post
though how did chelsea manage it in 2012?

Yeah Cholo said something to that effect when they're trying to get Costa to return to Atlético.

>Buying meme players to appease your yank fans.

Wow, is there anything that Europeans won't blame on Americans?

>though how did chelsea manage it in 2012?

Nobody knows, which is what makes it so incredible. That team had no business even making it to the semifinals, let alone beating Guardiola's Barca and then winning the final.
