Post this in the last thread but wanted to answer the confusion on wrestling ranking and pedigree All American is an award any wrestler can have regardless of division. Division 1 and Division 2 and Division 3 are "leagues" for the colleges separated by how much funding a school's athletic program gets. The lower the number the more money that program gets, so D1 schools tend to be the more prestigious and funded programs.
To be awarded All American is to stay in the nations top 8 ranking for an entire year. If you stay in the top 8 you are awarded All American at the end of the year. Its possible to be All American multiple times, and it is an honor but what most college athletes are looking for are national championships, then international level is a tier more difficult/prestigious which would be like Pan awards, finally on the top of the tier would be Olympic, there are several cases of National and Pan national champs never being Olympians, so in the wrestling community they can never be consider the best. Even if you are a World Champ, for you to be in talks of having elite wrestling you need to have an Olympic background on top of World champ belt.
HS state champs are nice, but not prestigious or indicative of pedigree/elite level wrestling, All American is though because it shows a grappler has been in the elite 8 for a long time frame, college champsionship of course (there are only a few college champs who were never All American), and Olympic level/world level are good indicators
