so.. a little theory.

the Upside-down isn't a functional alternate dimension, it can't be, because it has buildings and everything our dimension has, sans apparantly water and is covered in goo and meat.

it also seemingly has but one resident, the monster.

my theory is that Eleven created the Upside-down sub-consciously, and it simply sustains itself as a pocket dimension by attaching itself to our world as its mirror.

the only other easy explanation is that the Upside down is an alternate timeline-dimension in which something (recently in the past) horrible happened and did that to the world, but this seems unlikely, as even the Sun is not present.

I loved it until the ending. The scene with Will in the bathroom and the one where the cop puts the waffles in the box felt like they only existed to set up another season. I thought the story ended fine, and I don't really give a shit what happens to them next

slash faggotry aside, I thought it was cool that it's Jonathan that grabs him and drags him to safety when the demogorgon first attacks, he might not like the guy but he doesn't want him to get dead.

Chads with confidence and big amoutn of self-assurance do not have to put other people down or to bully.

Only failed Chads and try hard waste their time bullying others and are trying to prove something everywhere.

Real Chads are on top so they are friendly.

Really cool that even after being given a chance to flee he went right back into the house instead of being a bitch. Guy really did his best to rebel against a wave of cliches bearing down on him, might have been a bit TOO sudden, but I like to think Jono's beating helped a lot.

I imagine El will end up being the next season's Will if they stay in Hawkins. Millie in every episode, but I'm sure getting her out of the upside down will be the main arc.

The best scene (scenes or all of episode 3 really) is Winona and the Christmas lights trying to locate will. When they flicker on one by one leading her to the crawlspace and the big balled lump of them light up is when I was hooked and theorizing like crazy. Thought they might go the route of having Johnathon commit her and her and the boys being the only people believing will is out there; I like what we got though. The following scenes of her making the alphabet on the wall and talking with Will is so great especially what it leads to

I think there is an implication that Will is special, its told to us in a rather mundane way, the way normal people talk about smart people, but the fact the Demogorgon stalked Will seems to imply he has some latent psychic abilities.

the fact he could hide and survive so well in the Shadow Realm supports this.

That would also explain her implied craziness/anxiety issues, and the fact that she was able to comminicate with Will. Of course communication could be onesided, but she always stated that she feels like Will is somewhere close home and alive, and when she was in the upside down she could feel Jonathan and Jonathan could feel her too. It would explain to an extent her almost telephatic connection with kids, mainly Will.
