well, the chinese didn't have a bronze age until very late, they had cultivated rice and plates and stuff, but metal working seems to have taken overnight for some reason way later than it should have, "gunpowder" is actually a simple compound and would have been readily discovered by ancient egyptians, as you can find natural deposits by literally dropping things on the ground and it'll pop like a firecracker.
the asians were definitely good at honing metal works, but late at discovering it for one reason or another, some say it's the traditions that only the highest can innovate so if you're lower caste you have to STFU even if what you have to say is worthwhile

Greeks and Romans cremated their dead, and it wasn't until the rise of Christianity (aka, the near the very end of that estimated time) that burial became popular over cremation. Cremation was often a very important ritual rite (depending on the periods and place), in some Greco-Roman texts state that the dead suffer in the after-life if their corpse isn't cremated.
Hellenized Greeks and Romans often would look down on foreign practices while living in conquered provinces. So suggesting that since there were Romans and Greeks there at the time that they must've practice and accepted mummification as a burial practice is pretty far-fatch. For that to occur, they either often had to embrace and prefer and align themselves with the Egyptians than their own culture (which Egyptians were noted to be pretty xenophobic to others, like the Greeks and Romans were, outside of trade and diplomacy, and weren't tolerant to foreigners in casual settings outside of ports and trade markets, so that's further unlikely).
It's unlikely those mummies were of slaves or traders too. Mummification was a sacred act in Ancient Egypt that I doubt any foreign slaves would be persuade or even get carried out or allowed by their masters. Not to mention the key of how mummies are preserved so well lies on their tombs and their quality -- which slaves (unless we're talking of some favourite court eunuch of some Pharaoh) didn't have, and traders and stationed troops were unlikely to do.
Best possible chance for that excuse to survive is that these mummified kids were from some cheating prominent Egyptian aristocrat wife that slept with some foreigner, like a Greek or Roman or Gaul, and her husband didn't find out or wasn't pissed off enough to kill her and the kid and not allow burial rites.
