I see a lot of people argue that the parts with De Niro as Vito Corleone are the best parts of both Godfather movies, and I agreed at first, but I've come to realize that they're not really that good.
It's a little too much pandering for my liking, with them pushing his whispering raspy voice, that he shouldn't even have at that point, considering it's most likely caused by old age and bad health.
Furthermore, did they really have to use the same lines he said in the first movie?
It just seems like they think the audience is stupid, because they wouldn't know it was Vito without his TRADEMARK VOICE AND CATCHPHRASES.
Joseph Torres
Hello?
Gavin Ortiz
Unless Vito Colreone is the secret identity of a super hero there's not going to be any interest here senpai.
Chase Turner
Yep, shit board.
David Brooks
I don't care for any of the godfather movies tbqhwy. I prefer Scorsese's flavor of crime drama.
Hunter Jones
Truth. Where did it go so wrong?
Nolan Carter
Nothing in Part 2 comes close to the highs of 1. Vito's assassination of Fanucci echoes the restaurant scene in 1, but we already know that Fanucci is a fraud so the tension isn't there. Vito's rise to power is much less fraught than Michael's in general.
Aaron Wood
>I'll make him an offe he can't refuse
Just like the first movie get it!!!!!
Thomas Nelson
Homer is still best Don.
“Don Homer, I have baked a special donut just-a for you”
Anthony Reyes
I'll have to rewatch them, remake this thread in a year after I've seen them again
Ayden Edwards
>catchphrase pandering wtf I hate part II now
Lucas Gonzalez
The mods should ban capeshit like they (briefly) banned /got/. This board needs a bit of elitism to stop the rot.
Jacob Smith
Part 1 > Part 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> shit >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Part 3
Owen Davis
Both Michael and Vito's rise to power is nothing compared to Noodles' attempted rise to power.
Jack Wood
>i really don't appreciate characters that have a consistent background: the post
Nolan James
pandering was still fresh at the time
Ryan Kelly
Am I the only one who likes part 3?
Jordan Martinez
>considering it's most likely caused by old age and bad health.
How did you come to that conclusion?
William Hall
they're definitely the weakest scenes when they go for the shit you are describing, but aside from the obvious pandering they aren't that bad imo, best part of 2 is Fredo's monologue about how he was passed over
Leo Clark
yes, you are
Christian Bell
>most likely caused by old age and bad health.
I don't know people of that age who speak this way. Better to assume it's a vocal cord defect.
Jose Gutierrez
John Cazale honestly has a perfect filmography.
Angel Morales
>the same lines he said in the first movie?
"Yes, we have finally become the godfather."
Christian Evans
It's been years since I watched it, but wasn't there something wrong with his voice even growing up. I could've sworn that there was something about his Mom thinking he was a mute as a child.
Connor Brooks
actually the parts with de niro were the worst parts. i love de niro but the film would be better with mike as the protag only
Anthony Rivera
>not just watching them in a day
Alexander James
>consistent background = pandering to retards
Julian Richardson
Because he has a heart condition most likely
Henry Jackson
His mother says he doesn't speak. That doesn't mean you grow up sounding like you smoke 50 fags a day
Andrew Robinson
I want to watch this movie, but it's like 4 hours long.
Is it a movie you can take a break from once in a while?
Liam Flores
There's an actual intermission in the film. Pausing there and taking a break is a good spot.
Landon Hill
No, it's fine, but asshats can't remove their head from their butt and see that as a standalone (quality-wise, not story-wise, story is too dependent on the second) movie it is fine, it just doesn't live up the expectations left from the first two.
Joseph White
This desu senpai. Normies do this with everything. Godfather I and II were great. Godfather III was still a good film but HURR NOT AS GOOD AS II SO IT MUST BE SHIT XD
Carson Howard
no it brought much needed comedy to the godfather cinematic universe
>muh lucky hat
absolute quip tier
Charles Sanders
Vito's raspy voice is caused by childhood TB, which they show him having in the opening scenes. It's why they put him in quarantine when he comes to America.
So what you thought was pandering was your inability to pay attention to the film and overall lack of intelligence.
Kayden Cook
It's Sofia more than anything else that drags 3 down. She's so fucking wooden. That and the absence of Tom Hagen. They original version of Godfather 3 was a Corleone civil war.
Oliver Moore
Too many Jews in this movie
Jack Foster
>She's so fucking wooden. Yes Jesus Christ this.
Landon Flores
>Sofia Coppola played Michael Francis Rizzi in The Godfather Fucking wooden acting she ruined The Godfather!
Lucas Clark
That's nepotism for you
Ryan Phillips
ERGERG
Colton Wright
>Don Homer! My-a son he is-a...
>ah ah..... mmmm that's-a nice-a donut
Evan Lopez
>godfather cinematic universe
Man thank god we never got a Part IV. Wasn't it really close to happening in the early 2000s?
Dylan Bennett
Perfect Mafia film. OUATIA > Godfather 2 > Godfather 1 = Goodfellas > Casino > Godfather 3 > Mean Streets Also, Elizabeth McGovern is my cheekfu
Christopher Anderson
>childhood TB How did he recover? I thought TB was a death sentence before antibiotics.
