Final Fantasy The Spirits Within, The Polar Express, is it the uncanny valley thing that creeps out soccer moms?

Maybe because the two examples you posted were boring crap, at least FFSW was

Because the movies have acted as if the gimmick was more impressive than it actually was, and exerted no effort to actually be good movies.

The first one was poorly written. The second one was poorly written and had shitty CGI that had shitty eyes.

FYI, there are no full CGI movies with realistic CGI yet.

a scanner darkly was pretty good

I liked the Polar Express.

Not remotely realistic though.

That wasn't CGI though. They just rotoscoped over the actual live action footage.

the uncanny valley

That's rotoscope though

i dont remember her being in bikini in the movie

The rotoscoping was done using computers, not hand drawn like in the 1970s.

She was a cover/poster girl in a bunch of men's magazines back in the day

It was an unironic "she's so realistic and hot looking" thing at the time

It was done using computers, but hand-drawn using tablets. Check out the making of. They didn't press a bit and applied a filter to the footage, they painstakingly drew over every frame.

10/10 body though

The problem is weird, emotionless faces. This kid's face scared the shit out of me tbqh.

Face expressions were bretty good in TinTin.

she have an actress name and all
awesome

I just watched this a while ago.

Nobody cares, you aborted faggot.

REALLY?

Well, considering nowadays they are all photoshopped...

>millions of dollars invested into her hair physics
>years later everyone just uses hair bones that glitch through arms and shit
Uncanny valley can be an issue, but the real problem is it's a giant investment into visual that is often to the detriment to the content.
Avatar managing to make the headway it did was a fluke in that no one realized how much of the population had subconscious other-kin leanings.

The movie industry is basically a tax scam that's elevated to an artform.

Profit lies in hiding the actual cost of movie production.

This is easier to do when your movie is being filmed in physical space, with crew etc.

There aren't enough "tricks" for obfuscating the cost of entirely CG movies.

That's why video game cinematics look better than CG movies. They're paid for at cost. No tax shelters.

This vidya trailer came out two years ago and looks better than any scene in the Warcraft movie.
