no. you think it had the best music because only the good music from previous times is remembered. Every year the world is better, better tech, better culture, etc... 2many nostalgia fags

pretty good, I fucked 43 women in an orgy while high on speed, feelsgood.jpg

Story?

I don't believe that seeing as counter culture is dead, look at modern kids

>better culture
Flat out wrong, I have watched the world deteriorate into this fucked up mess. Literally weekly terrorist attacks

Did kids in the 80s want to live in the 60s?!

The 80's were a pretty awesome time to be alive, actually. The economy was extremely strong. There were always good paying jobs to be had at every level, ie blue/white collar, whatever. Crime was bad, but not as bad as now. SJW's didn't exist yet. The Cold War was winding down as other nations started figuring out that our military simply couldn't be challenged at the nation/state level. Which of course was the beginning of lower intensity conflicts like Al Quaeda and shit, but we didn't know that at the time.

Technology was coming around. The 80's saw the infancy of the internet, cel phones, home computing, console and PC gaming, VCRs and CD players...

The best thing I can say about the music was that it was a lot less...predictable? Every new band didn't have to fit into a preselected niche. Eurodisco, heavy metal, country/western crossovers, R&B or jazz inspired musicians, mainstream "classic" rock, weird one hit wonders, they all had to share the airwaves.

Did kids in the 1180s want to live in the 1160's?!?!

It wasn't a "Garden of Eden" but it was, IMHO, a lot better than what kids have to deal with now. Parents didn't have their kids lives planned out, every hour of every day of every year FOREVER. Kids could still be kids. You weren't nearly as stressed about shit when you were 14 as kids are now.

It wasn't perfect, but it was fun. I'd sure like to go back and live it again, that's for fucking sure.

Totally this. The 80's did in fact actually rock.

woahhhh dude thats radical man

>be me average male
>works a telemarketing job that pays somewhat well and keeps the family going strong
>been introduced to drugs previously to increase employee performance
>gets invited to a party that every employee is attending by a chad thundercock
>goes to party
>booze, speed and weed everywhere.
>couple begins fucking as people look chad thundercock gets in
>eventually everyone in the workplace gets in
>wewlad.jpg

Nice dubs. And true, being a kid in the 80's was awesome, Michael Jackson was still black and you didn't have to go home until the street lights came on.

I lived in the 80's but I was in eastern Europe under the iron curtain, I hate commies...

What was it like?

Not really. We did get a lot of "the 60's man" nostalgia, but when you get a bit older you find out the reality wasn't that great. Take Woodstock - it's a thing of legend, but it was actually raining most of the time. People where standing in mud trying to enjoy music. The drugs was about the only reason they had fun. Yes, the music hits from the 60's are still great, but if you listen to average 60's music on youtube you realize that most of it was pretty mediocre.

I fucking hate MJ I've always looked like him and people have annoyed me about it my whole life

Reagan felt your pain man, he did what he could.

the 80s were awful! we had a mentally retarded president. we lived in fear of russian spies. the economy was suffering after major banking scandals.

it was nothing like today when we have a brilliant and qualified president. russia never messes with us. and the economy is soaring thanks to honest and reliable wall street bankers.

yeah true music was still coming into its own but lots of psychedelics were legal

Yeah, the bottom line is that things were still OK in the 90's, but after 9/11....this country changed completely. Politics got uglier. Government invasion of privacy got a LOT worse. The economy went to shit eventually. Crime got worse. People started finding stupid shit like what fucking gender you are to get confused and angry about. Parents got so neurotic about their kids that they forced them to start growing up by age ten. The internet really started bringing the world into peoples homes... including the ugly parts. Porn exploded, which is fine for adults, not so much for those same ten year olds.

Things got a lot darker and a lot less fun after the towers went down.

>SJW's didn't exist yet.

They did exist, they just weren't called SJW's at the time. Read up on the PMRC some time, it was full the SJW evolutionary predecessors.

Al Gore's wife Tipper was on it, and a public figure at the time.

there were massive recessions from 1977-1984 and again from 1987 to 1992. you are a moron. the economy in the 80s was even less stable than it is now.

But culture user, drugs and shit too, culture besides some shit on the web now is genuinely awful no joke

I know all about Tipper and the PMRC, but they were the exception, not the rule. A handful of uptight Moral Majority Congressmens wives in Washington. Now that shit is literally half the people you know, pissed about everything you can think of.

It was about the same in the '80s. It's just that we didn't know about it then. You know, the Internet happened. The place where you can look for stuff.

I was already working a job by 1982, and I'm here to tell you, it wasn't as bad as you think it was. Even during the recessions, there were still some jobs to be had. People weren't losing their homes everywhere, banks weren't failing the way they do now. Again, it wasn't paradise, but it was pretty awesome.

Wasn't that bad actually, by the time the 80's rolled around we had some western products and culture starting to come in. We still had all the old commie shit lying around like Lenin statues, red stars, hammer & sickles but people didn't give a shit about them anymore, people were tired of communism by the late 80's.

Absolutely not.
Times are never better, circumstances from a single perspective are.

That doesn't sound too bad

I was born in the 80s but I was too a little too young to witness a lot of it, also my country was communist at the time

still love the 80s, everything is better then the shit times we live in now

People were more social and technology was less corrupting. Everything else was the same.

Normally, I'd agree with you. But sometimes something happens that absolutely changes the whole nation/world/society so radically that it can't be ignored.

World War 1 and 2. The Great Depression. 9/11. These things changed the entire culture of the country, and in the case of 9/11, it happened practically overnight. Look at early 2000 and compare it to 2001, and this country changed a SHITLOAD in about eighteen months.

How though

no it was shit compared to today. wish i was a kid growing up today. the technology is fucking insane compared to what we had.

Only downside was shortages, everything was rationed, we had ration stamps for everything: food, fuel, and even vodka!
My parents were non drinkers so they would trade vodka stamps with their friends for extra fuel stamps so we could go visit family in the next city by car more often.
1989 was the worst since all of eastern Europe was under martial law and we were scared that war was imminent but in the end Communism collapsed!

The 80s gave us the pic posted.
As far as I'm concerned that makes it a good decade but other people will have their own opinions based on their own personal experiences.

>countet culture is dead
Bitch don't you know about the alt-right?

Well put. I miss the 80's

fucking terrible time for music

Nah the tech now only leads to worse insecurities

oh i know thats why i watch what my kids do online. i don't want a cunt or a cuck as kids.

Basically, paranoia set in nation-wide. Homeland Security was born. The CIA started spying on American citizens like never before. Privacy? Gone, a thing of the past. Terror attacks on American soil became a regular occurrence. The disruption of trade, ie shit coming in to the country, further disrupted an already unstable economy. People started staying in instead of going out. "Staycations" became a thing, because no one wanted to become a target, either overseas or at a major tourist attraction. Zero tolerance was now enforced everywhere, even down to the kindergarten level.

Basically, things got a lot tighter, a lot stricter. And a lot less fun.

I mean like punk, hippies and metalheads. stuff like that isn't what it was

true I guess, modern tech will only make things worse it seems

Don't do this, you will make them worse thats like if your dad could watch you talk to your friends and shit like that

too many fags period. sure dont remember meeting more than 1 my whole childhood, and no not better culture, its deteriorated into shit, along with the people

no i dont hover over them but i make sure they aren't turning into some beta fucks. imma make sure they don't end up autistic. like my boy like minecraft and when he turned 12 i made him believe it was gay ass shit. he got in trouble recently for falling another student a faggot for liking minecraft. shit was cash. love having kids.

You're an awful human being, fuck you user

Aside from a little bit of good music, the 80s were crap. Anyone who says it was good was either a kid back then and dont really remember how it really was, or a 90's kid too embarrassed to say they were born in the 90s who watched Ferris Bueller once and just assumes it was a time of fun and shit.

Born in '75. The '80s were batshit insane. You guys missed all the fun.

it really seems to be the opposite of that though

There has never been a better time for each one of those genres. Just because it isn't like "how it was n shiet," doesn't mean it hasn't gotten better.

But whats the modern day rock or metal genre

>SJW's didn't exist

Oh, yes they did... You had the women in Greenham Common protesting about the American nuclear weapons based there
When I started college, we had a lecture from a bull dyke about how all us boys were rapists. Shit was not cash.

indie/post rock and (modern) heavy metal. That's the "mainstream" you can say, but both rock and metal have grown vastly and stemmed into new subgenres since the 80's as like any genre, that only people with their nostalgia goggles on think only good music was made in the past.

80s still had a middle class

you could get a job, work 40 hours a week, and buy a home.

good luck doing that nowadays. millions of people working 20 hours a week, minimum wage, no benefits, meanwhile the millionaires and billionaires are laughing all the way to the bank

The 80s were great .
Jobs everywhere .
An average guy could own his own home
easily by age 25 .
Middle class people had money to put
aside for retirement and could STILL take
family vacations .
We have better tech now but our future
prospects are SHIT .
The middle class is getting wiped out .

No, if you were rich you snorted cocaine
If you were poor, you got slightly worse cocaine
>and disco
