She obviously tried to strike to open the fight, the fight starts standing but there's a difference between striking to open up your clinch work and striking to actually win the exchanges
She was doing the latter. She did it against Holm and she did it here. The only time Edmund called for the clinch was after she was getting tagged, you can't deny they seem to think her striking skills are far better than the reality.
Nunes said it herself, Edmund screamed advice that showed signs of it too.
