I like to make Topsters of albums linked by a shared trait that the artists who created them have. Most of the ones I've made aren't very cheery, and I'm not very imaginative with themes so can someone suggest some for me? Ones I've done so far are: artists who were murdered, artists who died at 27, artists who committed suicide and artists that are or were Conservatives or rightwing.

I'll say now, there may be mistakes in the writing and layout of these. I do them when my insomnia stops me sleeping and I need something to do, so I'm often not entirely focused while doing them.

thanks. I like these

Jesus christ why do we keep murdering legendary musicians? Or are they legendary because they were murdered?

tfw never knew sparklehorse guy killed himself.

feels really bad man

love these charts, man!

how about 25 albums by artists who never learned music theory?

>Victor Jara

All Eyez on Me is not worth listening to, replace with Elliot Smith or something

Add Queens Of The Stone Age / Eagles Of Death Metal

"worth listening to" is really a stretch for this one, more like "would let you fit in with the normies but not encouraged for music fans"

Uh, Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke were hugely legendary before they were killed

Robert Johnson would have probably died a natural death before anyone heard of him anyway...the only ones that are remembered today because they were murdered are Lennon, 2Pac, Biggie, Dimebag, Euronymous and Big L

the only artists i wouldn't call great are ll cool j, kiss, and meat loaf. and even those three have decent stuff.

Yeah, true music fans dont listen to normie crap like frank zappa and the smiths

New one
Will probably do these at some point. May need a bit of research for some of them, but seem like interesting categories to do ones on.

>doesn't think smith was murdered
t. sheep

The Smiths are literally the most normie band of all time

I'd maybe switch out Ape of Naples for an earlier album since it was made by one in honor of the other's death, they didn't make it together

Also, Lennon and Ono are better represented by their earlier collaborations that weren't just pop music

And the lack of Ian & Sylvia is appalling

Just generally, bands where there is a couple seem cheating since that's like every band ever and instead it would have been interesting to seek out bands that actually were just the couple, especially since some of those bands split off into a band with the couple that wasn't as good which kind've proves they weren't just a couple before (see: Throbbing Gristle and New Order)

Dead Can Dance should easily rpleace one of those others

...

This is good stuff op

If big boi is a libertarian I'll eat my left nut

>Big Star's fist record
>Not I Am the Cosmos
for shame, user, especially since the latter is much better

I only went for Big Star's because I Am The Cosmos was an archival compilation, and it slightly bugged me to have that on the list instead of a studio album

Gene and Dean aren't real siblings, it's just their stage names.

go back to listening to swans and feeling good about yourself loser

Damn the Jaco Pastorius story is brutal. Beat to death by a club bouncer.

i'm more sad over IAtC never getting mentioned here

bump

>Elliott Smith
i'd expect you to know better than this.

Needs Anathema and Doves

wow magik is here

>In an interview with New York City's Hot 97, Big Boi revealed that the day after the 2012 U.S. presidential election, a white woman approached him at an airport and congratulated him on "his win last night" (referring to Barack Obama winning re-election), to which Big Boi responded, "Bitch, I voted for Gary Johnson."[28][29][30] He has since confirmed his libertarian political ideologies.

>no Grandeur of Hair

Doesn't get any better than this

Windy & Carl and Dead Can Dance deserve to be on there

Where the fuck is Royal Trux??

On his way to a Santana concert. He was also living in parks and busking shortly before his death. Brutal indeed.
