Absolutely. Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is just a chore to listen to, it's a second-rate retread of the sound of Juan Atkins and Derrick May. I suspect the reason for it's popularity is because it writes the African American innovators out of the history of techno, completing its cultural appropriation by white British artists. To add insult to injury, Aphex Twin just worse and worse after that.
