Anyone here ever worked as a security guard?

Anyone here ever worked as a security guard?

I have an interview tomorrow and I was hoping to get an idea of what they are looking for.

securifag here. where will you be working? mall? club? me myself I work at an airport sometimes we have to escort drunkies or have a shuffle with some shithead depending where you're at. it's just like vanilla police without the cuffs

Yes dude I did. Just depends where you work. I worked at a coal mines way back in the boonies. Black bears and rattle snakes everywhere. Carried a Glock and 12 guage with me

I'll be working downtown in my city's financial buildings. Mostly patrolling floors, watching security feed, entrance and exit stuff, etc. Or at least that's the impression I've gotten so far.

Just wondering if there are certain traits they're looking for or things they want to here you say. Personality type, etc.

Do you need experience for these jobs?

be straight forward and assertive with people you're watching but with bosses be pretty cool and act as if you're the president's body guard or some shit

if you wanna job with no experience do anything manufacturing related. assembly line and shit. work for a factory

alot of standing around. Its not like the movies where you need to beat ppl up. Just be vigilant and call the cops if real shit goes down.

Prior law enforcement or military training is preferred. I used to be in law enforcement for almost 4 years, worked as a security enforcement officer, broke into private security 3 years later and have been doing the job for over 13 years, now. I've also started my own patrol company that's doing pretty well. It's a good field and there is always going to be a need for security.

I worked security for a few years. Pretty boring, but depends on the site.

It's like any job interview. Dress to impress, show that you're professional and honest. Give specific answers to questions, instead of being general.

Like if I ask you when you've worked the hardest at your job and what made it hard. Don't reply some bullshit like, oh I stayed late a lot. Give a specific example of something that was difficult, etc.

I worked loss prevention, it was gay as fuck

Yes have been a security guard before

They don't really expect much. Just the normal things, being reliable, not late, not calling sick, do the duties, mostly standing around or doing some mundane task.

hard to believe a person who is building a business has time to post on Sup Forums

Cool, thanks for the info.

Appreciate the feedback guys. Glad to hear its just like any other job interview. Unfortunately I don't have any experience in law enforcement or military. I have a great resume otherwise (dense work history, great references, etc.) but what might have got me in the room is the fact that my dad is a cop and my brother in law is ex military and used to work for the company. I also have years of wrestling and mma experience. I'm also 20.

So in other words I don't have a whole to stand on other than coming off as professional in the interview room so I wanted to ask for advice on here. Again, thanks.

Have worked security for all sorts of venues from shopping malls to keeping kids out of abandoned buildings. What they want is someone who's alert and watching for things that are out of place, someone with a good memory (I guess cell phone cameras are a thing now. Didn't used to be.) Make good use of a notepad or notepad app or even voice recorder app. Try to get as much detail as possible when shit goes down.

Get as many certicertifications as you can. Baton, pepper spray, firearms, tazers, what have you. It makes you more employable since you have a more broad skill set. Also a degree in management helps as well.

Where would I go to get these certifications and how expensive are they? Do places of employment ever do these certifications?

I worked as a nightclub bouncer for years.

Just say you're good at kicking ass, keeping your mouth shut, and having selective vision.

Easiest interview ever.

So, because I find the time to post on a site in my downtime from my company, my mere presence here is something that you believe requires justification?

If he is former law enforcement on Sup Forums he almost certantly frequents the nigger hate threads

just treat it like being a cop with actual oversight and accountability

...

Selective vision? You not looking or "seeing" what you're not supposed to?

Kinda. I was a manager at a Krystal in Atlanta. Was the only white person, besides my cashiers. Guess that makes me more like a warden...

Exactly. "I didn't see who started it, I just ended it" is the only statement you give to cops, otherwise management has to do paperwork, and they hate paperwork.

At my security job I get paid to smoke pot, jerk off, eat food, smoke cigarettes, watch Netflix, play videogames on my laptop and oh yea every 2 hours I have to walk around a factory for 15 min. Its basically free money

Awesome. Is this something to mention in a job interview?

A big long black stick. That is all their looking for. Making sure you bring on of those. If you don't have one your screwed. Because they will all have big long black sticks to screw you with

I'm security manager for our citys main hospital. Shit's crazy.
Most of the time I sit in the security "office" which basically overlooks the emergency department. Mandatory stab vest, baton and hand cuffs. People come in at all hours, chopped off their faces or high. Seen multiple stabbings. Found a gun on a mental patient once.

I have stories if anyone is keen.

DAmn nice

Im keen

yeah I worked as a security guard in the local libary and every day after closing I would bang this hot secretary over my boss his desk it were good days.

Depends what company you're with. Wanna truly make a paycheck and a difference in the world? Join SSTEP. Wanna gaurd a walmart for the rest of your life? Work for G4S.

pic of secretary?

Just for clarity, we are in a country where guns are not carried around. You need a licence to own a firearm and owning a hand gun is almost unheard of, it takes a year to be licenced for a handgun and you are only allowed to take it to a range or a gunsmith or your house.

>Be Friday night.
>Friday and Saturday nights are the fucking worst. Drunks causing shit. Meth fucked people trying to steal drugs.
The only way inside the hospital after 10pm is to go through the emergency department, or in the ambulance area. The ambulance area requires a swipe card and a code to get in. The main area has a big waiting area and then two sets of double doors with swipe access only.
>Pic related.

>Sitting in security office watching cameras.
>Guy walking around carpark looking sus as fuck.
>See him reach into his pocket and pull out a knife.
>Call cops immediately. Watch him walk around slitting tires on cars.
>Go into lockdown. Autolock all the doors.
>He starts heading towards the main doors, no bueno son.
>Realized doors a locked. He's not happy.
>Fucker pulls out a shotgun from down his leg.
>Howthefuck.jpg
>Move everyone into the back area, phone police back and lock myself in the security office.
That was the only place we could control doors remotely at that time and see cameras etc.
>he busts in through the doors by shooting the glass out.
>Dumb nigger walks right past the security office and tries the doors. They are big, metal reinforced doors. Not gonna shoot through those.
>Puts his gun down to try pulling on the doors.
>Came up behind him and gave him a scon on the head with my baton.
>Out cold. Took gun and locked in office.
>Cop did a powerslide up to the door. It was cool as fuck. I think I still have the footage.
Nigger got charged and is still in jail. I will ripped out by the boss in front of the big boss. for "not following armed holdup procedures". Then my direct boss took me to the pub right after ripping me out.
Now they have a second office in a different area that can take control if the main one is compromised.

Three of my friends work in security and this is exactly what they do. If this shit payed more I'd be doing it too.
