only god forgives
Ready-mades were garbage and all of Duchamp's jawing about the meaning of art was just juvenile nihilism.
man look at all these clueless answers
what is which
problem child 2
Zooey Deschanel
Probably that Andy Warhol movie where the dude gets a blow job.
one of these Warhol films were my thought.
there's some film appropriation of actual other film material but it was usually for different effect, not the same kind of gesture, at least not fully -- and anyway, doing the gesture exactly, that is, just doing some Duchamp-y, Richard Prince-y rescreening of someone else's movie is just a retread of Duchamp's first readymade gestures and therefore not their equivalent because its equivalent would have to be next-level, obviously, while a similar mode.
so yeah, probably the early Warhol stuff, even though that was made with his own original footage, the gesture is similar while original enough in its own right
400 blows
an 'arty' or 'weird' movie is not a satisfactory answer, although, ironically, such descriptors, bracketed in quotations, could be used as a good criticism of Duchamp. the gesture and naming and some other next-level-y things are not actually all there is to him, and mistaking him, as people did with the punks, as an example that it's easy, are sorely mistaken. there's definitely some ways Duchamp misleads.

If you need to be convinced, just take a look.

All of those recent capeshit movies.
They had urinals in 1917
not the same kind of experiment. that's more to do with the structure/capacity of the medium.

not even joking
keep in mind, Duchamp's practice had much more range and dimension to it than just the gesture and interpretive affordance of the readymade
he was pretty based desu
What
It would have to be a movie made to prove a point (or make a joke) that brainless sheep will call anything art if you condition them to.
People in this thread don't seem to know what dada was actually about.
Only on Sup Forums though
>keep in mind
don't ever tell me what to do again
andy warhol shot 'films' that were just some object in frame for 10 minutes
it's the same shit as duchamp's 'yeah fuck you guys a urinal is art because I say it is'
That's how it is in the comic as well.
Hence the ambiguity.
funnily, he immediately abandoned that quasi/pseudo-cubist thing immediately after the bad reception of that painting. although there are hints in it of where his mind was going to go.
you can see demonstrated there that he was aesthetically gifted though, which a lot of people overlook. all the best people who took influence from him still had a certain aesthetic standard, even if that aspect is overlooked by interpreters sometimes, and when they don't, it goes into some anti-aesthetic thing that in time will be seen more as a kind of social practice / intervention / political gesture / protest.
The Catcher in the Rye
Is this a new meme?
it would only be in your interest to always acknowledge me. to do so is to basically be stranded in the desert without a single source of sustainance
the well, if you don't want to acknowledge it, is in me. I've known this since I was a child.
