>tfw rewatching a bunch of sci-fi robotics movies
>Rewatch A.I
>tfw no teddy bro
Feels fucking awful, man. I wouldn't say its a masterpiece but its quite a strong movie even after 15 years.
Tfw rewatching a bunch of sci-fi robotics movies
Bump
Its a lot better than people think, it's a genuine case of it going over peoples head. Kubrick and Spielberg knew what they were doing.
>AI
>Minority Report
Spielberg is alright
>you will never be fucked in the boipucci by gigolo joe
Hey Joe whaddya know
The thing is, the ending is fucking depressing. The movie states David thinks and feels like a real boy but he is just programmed to love and because of that he's just as one-dimensional as the rest. Now Teddy, he takes it upon himself to follow and help david despite him not being programmed to and chooses, multiple times, to forgoe a better or easier life in order to help david. Teddy is more human than all the other robots.
Plus the fact the ending has the supermecha recreating a fake Monica that is nowhere near like the real one is a testament to how hollow it all is. All David wanted was the face of Monica to say she loved him. The supermecha could've just created an everliving robot in her image and he wouldn't know the difference.
Yeah and I have a heard a theory that David may have "died" in the pod but dreamt that shit when meeting the blue fairy. Teddy basically gets fucked over trying to be a loyal friend only there is no fantasy for him to escape to.
Well, at the very least, in the end Teddy is there with the supermecha civilisation. He's essentially the keeper of the old age so he has a very important role. He's just... alone. I heard a theory that when teddy is seen sewing himself up, it means he was being abused by Martin and in the end you can see him sew himself up too. So did David just randomly start abusing the poor guy for giggles?
shame how spielberg butchered that movie, wish kubrick would have done it
I always stop watching at or before her mothers sends him away. Gets boring after that.
hes sewing himself up because he stored monica's hair inside his stomach, he pulled himself open to give it to the supermechs, hes just sewing himself afterward
This
yeah I kinda figured, but he also sews himself up during a scene with martin involved too. Maybe it alludes to how he's generally neglected. He fixes himself because no one else will.
Spielberg came out and said Kubrick wrote the advanced ayylmaos himself though.
Kubrick would have dropped more hints that the main market for kidbots was pedos.
ive tried to watch A.I. countless times but something always happens where i dont end up finishing it. same with Sin City. tried watching them both at least 5 times but never a single time the whole way through
>kid-bot used as a sex slave that thinks he is a real boy
>movie is about the ethical implications of paedophiles living out their fantasy with "toys"
I can see this happening in the next 10 years
That's ACTUALLY a fucking amazing idea, it is definitely a new spin on the "Robot has human-like AI, what do?". Ex Machina x100
bumparino
ugh, cringe
I actually loved the bleak, dystopian world that Spielberg created with this fil...but I get depressed knowing that Kubrick would have done it 10 x better.
where's david
Doesn't Kubrick use teddy bears to signify child abuse in his movies?
I remember this from the Eyes Wide Shut threads.
Maybe it was bullshit.
can you take me to david
one of the films that got me into cinema
wonderful, very moving story
Mo' like
>no Jude Law sexbot
how can you abuse a robot?
this. stop giving Sup Forums a bad name guys.
>Doesn't Kubrick use teddy bears to signify child abuse in his movies?
yes
Give me a robot and I'll show you
They made us too smart, too quick and too many. We are suffering for the mistakes they made because when the end comes, all that will be left is us.
i really honestly hope i see robots on this level in reality before i die. i'm pretty sure i will. its got to be possible within the next 30 years, right?
>on this level in reality before i die.
dont know what you're confused about. i'm hoping robots on the same level as the type in the movie will exist in reality before i die
That goddamn teddy bear left such a strong impression on me.
>Ignored
>Never taken seriously
>Never thanked
>Risked own life at death circus
>Saved the day numerous time but doomed to be alone regardless
Fuck David. Teddy the real MVP
