weebs get out
bump
if someone even considers Italian shit a western their opinion is disqualified
listen to someone who knows what they're talking about
pic related
this is my personal favorite. even though it was around 3 hours long, i didn't want it to end, because i had become so involved with the characters and the setting.
read the box
I can't argue with that
>mfw i bought that blu ray three years ago, and still haven't watched it
i bought it about 6 months ago..already had it on dvd
i have a 7 yr old and we'll watch it as soon as he can appreciate it
i live in Texas and have already seen it at least 4 times
is pic related a good movie? considering watching it tonight
if the italians can make a good western then hell maybe the aussies can too
yes it's good
but the old westerns are better
The outlaw Josey Wales
of course the classics are best but ive already seen most of them atleast twice
Its pretty good, but don't expect it to be as good as the classics.
i need to watch it. maybe this weekend.
If you enjoy people staring into nature for 2 hours...
>if someone even considers Italian shit a western their opinion is disqualified
Look upon this retard's work and despair.
Italians elevated Westerns above genre flicks and into the realm of actual, legitimate movies.
Personal fave is For a Few Dollars More. One of me top 5 all time films actually.
Watched it yesterday for the second time, VERY good, but not as good as my all time favourite
Never seen this mentioned on Sup Forums
Why are all recent-ish Westerns complete fucking garbage?
I can't even remember if there was a quality Western in the 80's, It's been 40 fucking years since someone has actually made one of these movies well. It seems impossible. You'd think someone would at least get lucky and string together a half-decent film, but no.
...
>Bolivia
>western
I really like My Name Is Nobody.
And the Doc Holliday part of Tombstone.
Only half is in Bolivia
not the best western, but one of my personal favorites set during that time.
I'm your huckleberry.
well shit I need to check this out
>Appaloosa
>Wyatt Earp
>Tombstone
>Unforgiven
>3:10 to Yuma
maybe this is bait idk
solid seven good
Danny Huston steals the show
>My Name Is Nobody.
Watched this not knowing it was comedic. The clearly sped up footage took me by surprise
it's an unintentional homage
but very good ..and must see
3:10 to yuma
the proposition
true grit(remake)
bone tomahawk
and a few others i dont remember right now are all very good
this is you, isn't it?
love that movie, especially doc
Friendly reminder that there's people out there who don't know what he meant with "you're a daisy if you do". Like, they think it was a threat connected with "pushing up daisies" or that daisies were just connected with death.
>Appaloosa
>Wyatt Earp
>Tombstone
>Unforgiven
>3:10 to Yuma
are you retarded? The only movies on that list made in the last 15 years were Yuma and appaloosa. The other 4 were made in the early nineties. The fact that you can only name two good westerns made in the last 15 years proves his point
>Wyatt Earp
Underrated
This is the only true answer. Best western ever and Leone's second best film.
>Never seen this mentioned on Sup Forums
Hello newfag.
>that cast
I'd say that's worth it alone
are YOU retarded, you fucking mongoloid
>It's been 40 fucking years since someone has actually made one of these movies well.
read before you comment, dipshit
also
Fuck not even trying to be contrarian but I hated bone tomahawk. I came in my pants when I first found out a "Weird West" movie was in production, but holy shit was I disappointed. Can some one please just tell me why they liked it?
Nah, there's at least three guys here who like Tombstone.
Doc Holliday is clearly the best part of Tombstone. Both the most interesting character and the best acted one.
The Assassination of Jesse James and True Grit were both great though.
this
For a Few Dollars More will always be my favorite, but TGTBATU is a close 2nd.
also:
the Searchers
Unforgiven
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Are there any movies with all the western tropes/hallmarks set in the modern day?
This is the best since NCFOM
Outlaw Jose Wales
didn't he mean, "you're the best if you do", or something like that? implying, if he was able to kill him, he was a better gun fighter.
Time JUSTed the once handsome Ben Foster bad
>Ben Foster
sold
was he ever "handsome"? he's always been the little creepy intense guy
he's very charismatic in it.
see it asafp fuckers
I want to see this
Is it that good user?
>Appaloosa
Admittedly, I haven't seen it.
>Wyatt Earp
Is this a joke? Fuck Kevin Costner and every movie he's been in.
>Tombstone
Hasn't held up that well. It absolutely reeks of 1993.
>Unforgiven
Was just a hideously ugly, dull film. I feel like people wouldn't love it so much if Clint Eastwood wasn't in it.
>3:10 to Yuma
Is a remake and not even a particularly good one.
>the proposition
Haven't seen this one either.
>true grit(remake)
I'm actually one of those rare people that fucking hate John Wayne (for fuck's sake, he's the same character in every goddamn movie) so while I think it's a million times than the original, I still don't think it's a good movie.
>bone tomahawk
I mean, it was SET in the West, but I wouldn't call it a Western. Or that good. I hate gore porn.
He was intense handsome in 3:10 to Yuma
fucking excellent. some great cinematography, it's comfy, and contains top tier bants. Pine is great in it too.
he had a hat on the entire time. there you go.
>Kevin Costner and every movie he's been in.
kevin costner gets a pass forever because he made this
so, fuck you and your shit opinion
Appaloosa is genuinely great
>Fuck Kevin Costner and every movie he's been in.
Normally, I agree. Also Open Range is pretty decent, if not heavyhanded and cheesy
>Jeff Bridges
>Chris Pine
>Ben Foster
Positively memetic.
>Is this a joke? Fuck Kevin Costner and every movie he's been in.
y tho?
he's good
The Magnificent Seven
I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the magnificent seven but once upon a time in the west is definitely the best.
who here /h i v e m i n d/
...
Basically, but I wouldn't say it was that strict. It was more like "you're good if you can manage to take me!", without suggesting that he's necessarily better. It certainly wasn't a threat that Doc would kill him if he did, though. That shit doesn't even make sense, yet there's so many people who think it.
I suppose Doc might also have been antagonising him by likening him to a woman? I'm actually not entirely sure whether you called guys daisies, but I can't think of another example where it wasn't directed at a woman. I've never even thought about that angle before now.
Oh god i forgot about this
>kevin costner gets a pass forever because he made this
Fuck that stupid-ass movie, the faces on the cover says it all.
>swallowing his disgusting, cheesey-ass moustache
>woman looking constipated
>Indian dude JUST
Fuck that movie and fuck Field of Dreams. He could make nothing but amazing films for the next decade and it still wouldn't repay us for that cornball-ass film.
SHANE?
Young Guns has the great opening titles ever.
youtube.com
fuck u, field of dreams is great. i watch it with my dad.
youtube.com
this movie cemented Lee Van Cleef as THE western badass, for me anyway.
bump
It looks like a bad intro to a 90's tv-show.
>I suppose Doc might also have been antagonising him by likening him to a woman?
i thought about that as a possibility, as well. i haven't watched it for a couple of years, but i remember doc being playful and smiling during that scene. he certainly wasn't doing any chest puffing, or being threatening.
also, the scene during which eastwood's character tries to bully him out of town, and he ends up making him look like a fool. and when van cleef's character's true motives were revealed at the end. i loved that.
Bump
He's a big guy
H8ful
Jesse James was one of the worst films I've ever experienced
I tried to watch my name is nobody last night
it was so fuking gay I turned it off after about 30 minutes
how the fuck could sergio make that
Step aside faggots
Not enough badass silent types for you?
Once Upon a Time in the West is my favorite, pic related is also a good western that I watch recently.
Any other modern European western film recommendations?
no word of a lie, I was going to make this thread just now.
threadmind.
The Charge at Feather River.
Meme: the movie.
Yeah, well I figured it would suit this board since it's basically Meme: The Sup Forums Board.
it's excellent, but be aware that all Auskino is suicide-inducing levels of depressing
so true. this board fucking blows.
REEEEEEEE
Wow, it was 3 hours? Felt like a normal run time. Shows how much I enjoyed it. Easily one of the best.
This is great too.
THIS THIS THIS I LOVE THIS SHIT
>Bone Tomahawk
It was good, but I dunno if it was one of the best. It was more a Western horror movie, to be fair. That's like saying Dog Soldiers is one of the best military movies.
Unforgiven probably for me
>That's right, I killed women and children. I killed just about everything that walked or crawled at one point or another... and I'm here to kill you, Little Bill, for what you did to Ned.
>Chills every time
Fag from earlier in the thread considering watching the proposition. Credits are rolling right now. Best western I have seen in ages 9/10
>Unforgiven probably for me
I preferred the scene where he said "Any man takes a shot at me, I'm not only going to kill him, I'm gonna kill all his friends and burn his house down."
Oh yeah got equal chills at that bit too.
Reminder that if your western is not made by an Italian then it is shit. John Ford fuck off.
You know it
While it's not really in the same leagues as a good western, I really didn't understand the hate that Cowboys Vs. Aliens got. The things happening and the tone was exactly what I expected when walking into a movie called Cowboys Vs. Aliens.
