How about this, remove the playoff and let each teams play their bowl games. Then on January 2nd (or January 3rd in years like this) have the committee choose two teams to play for the championship based off the season including bowl games.

No and no. Scheduling FCS teams for homecoming is perfectly acceptable. However, FCS wins shouldn't count towards bowl eligibility, so if a team is 6-6 but they have an FCS win they shouldn't qualify for a bowl.
