It is perfectly okay (and even encouraged) to dismiss a genre of music if you hold strong bias against the prominent aesthetics that define that genre.
To imply that all genres are of equal worth, or that no genre is "devoid of good music" is a sign of both musical immaturity and unrefined taste.

I absolutely love dance music, all genres from grime to breakbeat hardcore to footwork but I can't stand trance. I just can never get into it at all.

I dislike country, EDM, reggae, most punk rock, some of the extreme metal stuff, folkies/singer-songwriters (barring Bob Dylan and 1-2 other exceptions).

Indie. I like some entry-level bands (Alt-J, NMH, Bon Iver), but I can't bring myself to seek more of it because I don't really like the aesthetic, I just happen to appreciate those 3 bands. I think there are many valid arguments about how shallow or comercial the genre is, but calling it backround noise for parties, artless and nothing to get into tells you more about the people's (lack of) music knowledge rather than actually pointing out the genre flaws.

While I believe it's as shallow as you can get, in this modern age you can't just critique music by composition. Elements like production and mixing are as important on some genres. It's the equivalent of summer blockbusters, you can call them souless (being accurate), but they're polished in some aspects, enough to at least recognize them.

And I don't even like reggaeton.
