What some god-tier leaf artists? all I know is the famous and entry-level stuff like GY!BE, Neil Young, Rush, Arcade Fire, etc.

This is probably my favorite album of the decade.

METZ (noise punk), No Joy (shoegaze), Beliefs (shoegaze), Trust (darkwave), Odonis Odonis (industrial surfgaze?), Solids (emo punk), An April March (shoegaze), SIANspheric (space rock), Greys (noise punk). Other easier ones like DFA1979 and Mac DeMarco idk

What are some bands and genres you like? Some of my personal faves are alvvays, japandroids and the Sadies, if you like some pretty standard indie rock I have several other recs for you but let me know what you like.

Wolf Parade has always been a top artist of mine. this album is a 10/10

...

i'm into into prog rock and post-rock

Sloan is my favorite Canadian band of all time

Sex Bo-omb. They're this indie punk group from Toronto, you've probably never heard of them.

Everything she ever made.

I mean The Guess Who are legendary. Probably not to everyone's taste these days but fucking hell they were a great band. Burton Cummings has some serious pipes.

Shania Twain is a canuck

The Flowers of Hell
Do Make Say Think
Fond of Tigers
Thee Silver Mount Zion Memorial Orchestra and Tra La La Band
Valley of the Giants
Sea Oleena

fantastic album from Calgary

ctrl+f "devin townsend"

wtf

These cunts. Who knew 4 white dudes from Canada could make some jazz?

This cunt. Who knew a white dude from Canada could make some rap?

This

is this slint after they were done swimming?

Boards of Canada

I see what you did there

The greats are Neil Young, Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell. Some lesser known recs:

Alexander Spence - Oar
Bent Wind - Sussex
Buffy Sainte-Marie - It's My Way
Harmonium - Cinquieme saison
Jane Siberry - The Walking
Kate and Anna McGarrigle - s/t
Lewis - L'amour
Mary Margaret O'Hara - Miss America
The Plastic Cloud - s/t

meme garbage for 15 year olds

not op but i'd love some indie rock recs

japandroids really suck live though desu. Still had a blast at their concert because muh punk rawk

>noboody mentions of Montreal
truly, no respect for our culture

Arcade Fire, Hollerado, Tokyo Police Club, Mother Mother, Born Ruffians, The Elwins

Shades of Culture - Mindstate

me lol

i SWEAR this is super good and experimental

soundcloud.com/yenzy/pinkbeige

not what you might think of as far as 'canadian' sound goes because its rap and auto-tune infused

and i get that im gonna get preconceived notions because its a soundcloud link and self promotion but hey w/e

...

well since this guy did it first i might as well make him look better. it's cold as hell up here, nothing to do in the winter, so we're all musicians to some degree.

expandingsponge.bandcamp.com/album/right-tossed
just some electronic stuff ya know. nothing too traditional, but nothing i'd actually call experimental.

ROT AND ASSIMILATE

>no one posting the best one

Sad to hear that, I haven't seen them but hope. to if they ever stop somewhere between Toronto and Montreal.

In addition to these and my original 3 reds you can try said the whale (folk rock on their earlier stuff, move towards indie pop later), arkells, current swell, Patrick Watson, and if you don't mind French, malajube and Les breastfeeders.

You might like malajube (francophone) and Patrick watson

Have you ever gave Crash and the Boys a listen? They're from Brampton I think. I heard they played a battle of the bands with them.

Sloans best imo

His actual band, Alexisonfire is shite, but this album is pretty good.

wrong

Voivod and Cryptopsy

who here /Arkells/?

I think they make great alternative music, High Noon was one of my favourites of 2014

meme criticism for 17 year olds

Loscil, Tim Hecker, Nickelback, Caribou

Destroyer is fucking great

>Nickelback
come on now

>Implying Nickelback isnt a great band hated for no reason other than redditors jerking off over how shit they think it is

>being so obsessed with contrarianism and reddit-hate you actually pretend to like fucking nickelback
holy shit dude

No ive just honestly always liked Nickelback user

SO HOT TO ANNIHILATE

Check out Preoccupations (Formerly Viet Cong). They're probably the best we have for post-punk

underrated post

I'm through with standin' in lines to clubs I'll never get in
It's like the bottom of the ninth and I'm never gonna win
This life hasn't turned out
Quite the way I want it to be
(Tell me what you want)

I want a brand new house on an episode of Cribs
And a bathroom I can play baseball in
And a king size tub
Big enough for ten plus me
(Yeah, so what you need?)

I need a a credit card that's got no limit
And a big black jet with a bedroom in it
Gonna join the mile high club
At thirty-seven thousand feet
(Been there, done that)

I want a new tour bus full of old guitars
My own star on Hollywood Boulevard
Somewhere between Cher
And James Dean is fine for me
(So how you gonna do it?)

I'm gonna trade this life
For fortune and fame
I'd even cut my hair
And change my name

'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars
And live in hilltop houses, drivin' fifteen cars
The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap
We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat

And we'll hang out in the coolest bars
In the VIP with the movie stars
Every good gold digger's gonna wind up there
Every Playboy bunny with her bleach blond hair

And well, hey, hey, I wanna be a rockstar
Hey, hey, I wanna be a rockstar

I wanna be great like Elvis without the tassels
Hire eight body guards that love to beat up assholes
Sign a couple autographs
So I can eat my meals for free
(I'll have the quesadilla, ha, ha)

I'm gonna dress my ass with the latest fashion
Get a front door key to the Playboy mansion
Gonna date a centerfold that loves
To blow my money for me
(So how you gonna do it?)

>implying Nickelback is anything more than a bellow-average post-grunge band trying to sell daft poorly produced trash to Chads

Of Montreal

>Not seeing the irony

Most of my favorites are canadian because there seems to be a correlation between being a cuck and making good music.

>cuck

Daniel Romano, especially if you’re into folk music

Eric's Trip

Went to highschool with these guys, they're aight

Timber Timbre

I see no one has mentioned Grimes...is that cause she's "famous/entry level"?

also Tim Hecker

I like Broken Social Scene. They created one of the best and seminal album of the 00s indie rock movement.

This

>Montreal
>Part of Canada

Fog Lake (lo-fi indie/ambient) is from Newfoundland. Awesome project that more people need to know about. His newest album is my favorite of 2017 so far.

youtube.com/watch?v=2Qvj99Fy7eY&t=195s

Go away, Jacques

Simple Plan

They might look Hot Topic as all fuck but The Birthday Massacre's actually a pretty solid act in their own right. Fairly consistent quality throughout their discography as well.

Chad VanGaalen

Rural Alberta Advantage.
like Canadian Smashing pumpkins.
youtube.com/watch?v=Iv6q8OOVcg0

This actually

Hollerado, DFA, Indian Handicrafts, PUP, Sloan (TUNS too), Odds, early Billy Talent and early Sum 41, The Tragically Hip. (etc.)

Pic related is one of my favourite albums of all time.

Nickleback is only hated because it is a Canadian band. They're music is generic, but other generic bands aren't shit on as much as they are.

Their *, whoops.

...

Godspeed you glorious man Godspeed.
We truly would be a different nation if he were alive today.
