What's on your list of the top kino this year so far? I want to know what I missed.
Pic related from the director of The Chaser and The Yellow Sea
>succeeds in making a clusterfuck of themes work together >avoids cheap scares >the god-tier atmosphere in the last half hour >highly rewatchable
Zachary Mitchell
>he watches movies in the wrong aspect ratio, artifacted video & improper framerate No thank you. I'll wait for a proper release.
Leo Fisher
next you'll be telling me you watched that shitty Handmaiden rip.
Eli Morgan
You have terrible taste and no cinematic knowledge
Jose Moore
There's a Handmaiden rip? fuck
tempted
Angel Smith
It's busted just like the Wailing release. Have some patience. Don't ruin movies for yourself by being impatient. Atmospheric movies need to be viewed properly.
William Garcia
Yeah I can't stand bad rips, I didn't bother getting madVR set up for nothing
What's the best tracker for finding propers of Korean kino first?
Nicholas Anderson
kek
yea, im a quality snob myself .. but i really wanted to watch this one. I found a 720p that was pretty shity but it sufficed.
I enjoyed this film as well, OP. I definitely need to see it again when a better rip comes out, but it's definitely in my top films of the year, so far.
Isaac Hill
The Neon Demon. You better wait for the blu-ray and not download that shitty web-dl hitting next week, you pleb.
Matthew Perry
>wrong aspect ratio
what
Kayden Hernandez
For new movies I don't think there's one that's better/faster than the others (by more than a few hours). I know PTP has some 1080p blu-rays of Japanese movies released '14-15 that are not on tehconnection & avistaz though.
It's been stretched. It was not released in its original aspect ratio.
Jordan Cox
>>implying I won't get both
Ayden Wilson
If it's your 2nd viewing, sure whatever. If it's your first viewing, just wait. There are so many dark scenes (some with flashing lights) that will look much better in blu-ray.
Jacob Fisher
anyone want to send an asiatorrents invite my way?
Thomas Harris
If you're looking for the rips just use DHT search engines like digbt
Lincoln Lopez
I don't know user,i am pretty sick and tired of these korean detective films with revenge and murder as the main theme and using suspense(even if they are probably the best at it) as an element to get there.
At this point it feels like watching the same films over and over again,it's way too played out at this point.
Xavier Robinson
Ehehe... The wailing is not a detective nor murder story. It's not about revenge either. Its a fresh breath in korean cinema. Watch it. You'll love it.
Carson Hughes
Sick of them? How many do you watch? There are not a ton of highly regarded ones that don't have something unique going for them. As someone who watches a lot of Korean movies. While they may be good at them, there aren't actually THAT many.
Also The Wailing is a mystery/horror movie.
Parker Ward
Is The Wailing ruined for me if I know who the demon is? Should I even bother still..
Jonathan Powell
The Wailing is more of a thriller with mystery, horror and fantasy elements. It barely has anything in common with well-known Korean revenge movies other than the bumbling rural cop trope
Wyatt Miller
Oh, it's next week? Very nice, can't wait
Nicholas Morris
Blu-Ray is next month though. If it gets leaked early you might only have to wait an extra week or two for it.
Jonathan Gomez
>The wailing is not a detective nor murder story.
yes it is. just because there are supernatural elements to it doesn't make it not a detective or murder story
Camden Bell
I've been living in a cave since kickass was taken down. How do I acquire this
Jayden Gutierrez
The Wailing leaked already? Can anyone provide a link?
Joseph Miller
It leaked 2 months ago. At this point just wait for blu-ray instead of watching this shitty rip.
Easton Anderson
Sure they indeed have a unique angle at the narrative most of the time ,but my issue is with the themes which have gone stale at this point.
And this is exactly why breathless(2008) felt like a breath of fresh air to me.
I was indeed planing to check it out despite of what i said earlier.Do you have a link for the torrent ?
Lucas Hughes
Breathless was a great movie. I don't see what that has to do with anything though. There are plenty of non-detective movies that have come out in the past few years that are fantastic.
It's on every single private tracker and on every single public Korean tracker. tosarang, torrentkim3, avistaz, tehconnection, ptp, etc etc..
Noah Ortiz
Are there supernatural elements to it? There are multiple ways to read into the movie and the ending(s).
Anyway to me personally it has nothing to do with the generic korean detective/murder/revenge/drama stories that we have seen so much.
Id recommend it to everyone.
Dominic Cruz
digbt dot org
look for "The Wailing (2016) 720p WEB-DL x264 AC3" 1.6gb
the 3.5gb one has Korean hardsubs I think
Joseph Wood
I fucking loved The Chaser, will I like Yellow Sea and the Wailing?
Elijah Edwards
Yes because that one is not the only player in the game
Justin Perry
Care to recommend a few? Also thanks. Thanks nigga
Asher Lopez
Yellow Sea is a more slow-paced thriller and The Wailing is a horror/mystery. How the fuck should we know. There are other movies like The Chaser, if that's what you wanna watch.
Bentley Ramirez
Here's a few good ones from the past ~5 years. Few ones that feature detectives included, so just filter them out yourself if you feel the need.
Moebius Pieta The Terror Live A Hard Day New World Hwayi: A Monster Boy For the Emperor A Company Man Bedevilled Confession of Murder Revenge: A Love Story The Housemaid No Mercy Way Back Home Haemoo The Tower The Nameless Gangster Han Gong-ju
I have a ton on my watchlist from the past few years as well. I could list some of them, but I can't personally verify that they are good.
Camden Perez
I've seen all other korean kino though
David Cruz
Fuck it, here's a few I plan to watch soon that look good.
The Shameless The Truth Beneath The Handmaiden Train to Busan Karaoke Crazies I Am Trash Mother is a Whore Spirits’ Homecoming Spa Night Inside Men Under the Sun (doc on North Korea, not directed by Korean) Alone Right Now, Wrong Then Angry Painter Gyeongju Broken A Girl at My Door
All from 2016-2014, I believe. So yeah there's some good stuff from Korea.

ITT: Weebos
Jeremiah Walker
a "weeaboo" is someone obsessed with Japanese culture. You're the only person who has brought up something Japanese in this thread. So you're the most "weeaboo" person here.
Camden Parker
>korean trash Its more like ITT: Sup Forums movie buffs
Elijah Sanders
Fucking weebs and their excuses
Connor Nguyen
Go back to spamming cuck porn and contributing quality content to this board.
Eli Jenkins
There's no need to be upset, friend
Elijah Allen
Did any of you fags watch the best show of the year?
William Long
What do you think of the films in my image? They were all released recently.
What's that? You haven't seen any of them? Well isn't that a shocker. Now settle down and try to refrain from thinking anybody on this board gives a slightest fuck of what a plebeian like you thinks of an artistic medium.
Jason Phillips
>contributing quality content to this board >he says as he posts in a KINOxDD thread adorable. also korean cinema is basically Hollywood 2. it's all edgy fedora dog shit. It gives plebs the ability to say they've seen foreign films and allows them to keep the same type of enjoyment they get from blockbusters.
Gabriel Thompson
All good posts. IMDB babbys having the nerve to think they have any kind of moral high ground on this board isn't in any way acceptable
Michael Diaz
>Calling your own shitpost "good" You came into a thread for something you didn't like and started attacking people. So yeah, I do think they have a moral high ground.
Tyler Thompson
:^)
Nicholas Garcia
I don't samefag unless its about getting this board split into Sup Forums and /film/ so we can get the patricians back.
David Johnson
As someone who's seen very few Korean films, could you give some examples of the films you're describing? They sound good to me
