I love this documentary
But they miss out tons of shady stuff that the government also did during those years, including forcing big firms to grow bigger debts
As it is it's kind of enlightening but it's missing lots of shit

Saw this yesterday and it pissed me off to no end

Nig

any more docos to further enlighten myself

They barely did "wall street is evil lol", read up on the 2008 housing crisis, if you're interested in the ultimately self destructive mindset read Enron the smartest guys in the room and freakonomics

...

dear zachary and The Smartest Guys in the room are a surefire ticket to ragetown for me.

Oh that pissed me off so fucking much

Written by a bunch of idiots who don't know anything about finance or economics

>father doesn't understand how his 401k went to shit because the wall street housing debacle
>try to explain it to him, he still doesn't get it
>try to get him to watch this, he doesn't want to watch a documentary
>have him watch this
>he gets mad saying I tricked him into watching a documentary in a more palatable form

I told him yes and asked him if he was really mad at me or the bullshit wall street does. He finally understood.

I just skimmed the wki entry. What's so rage inducing?

>reading the wiki of movies before watching them
>especially about Dear Zachary
Holy fuck just kill yourself right now

>not understanding the word "skim"
>using "kill yourself" on an adult board

Anyone want to tackle the original question in a NON sperg way?

Your dad sounds like he's a bit of a simpleton

I just love the opening shots of New York with Peter Gabriel's Big Time playing over it.

fucking kill yourself you sperg.

I literally just did the same thing, except I actually read it all. Go back and read it to understand why.

The documentary piecemeals the information out very slowly, framed as an introduction of the murdered father to his infant son. The filmmaker intentionally misleads the audience into thinking the kids alive until the big reveal halfway through, at which point he edits the film to match the confusion and dread everyone felt when Zachary and his mother went missing and were ultimately found dead. It's a tough watch as the film shifts it's focus towards the Canadian government and how the courts failed to stop this preventable tragedy.

Don't mind if I do. What the gentleman meant to say is that for making the ignominious decision to read the movie before watching it, you sir should take a long walk off the short pier, so to speak. Synopsis are fair game. Wiki entries are not. Comprende?

What kind of a person doesn't want to bother figuring out what happened to his vanished pension? And then gets mad at whoever tries to explain it to him? You're a good man, user. Your father, not so much.

The Big Short is explains stuff so well. Does it say the whole truth about how the situation went to shit, or do I have to watch a documentary for further legit info? I'm kinda a simpleton like this guy's father.
