Every year I start this thread and I've never gotten more than 5 replies. So I'll try again.

The 2017 Supercross season starts this year. There are 17 rounds, and the first round starts tonight in Anaheim, round 1. Today is like christmas for moto fans.

The first round is always a barn burner because these guys are so mental and always trying to out dog each other and see who the true #1 is. Right now it's the german phenom Ken Roczen, but there are fast rookies.

If you watch Moto GP, F1, Nascar, I really implore you to at least give A1 a shot. Sometimes the racing sucks, but sometimes it's fucking AMAZING. Tonight has potential.

The sport is struggling and sponsors are pulling out and its likely the outdoor series (way better than SX) will get scrapped for a full year world SX series. These guys are not on normal bikes, they are on $140,000 + one off factory unobtanium machines. The sounds, the high tech shit, it's like machine porn.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, I'll be bumping this most of the night without trying to spam it.

Starts at 6:30 PST/9:30 EST, you can watch is on FS1 or buy it for 19.99 on their livestream website.

If they went back to 2 strokes I'd watch

Convinced me. I'll try to catch it tonight if I can tonight.

Huh, I'd think Sup Forums would really enjoy dudesplat. I kinda like it, but the announcers are usually full-time-hype DUUUUUDE tier (which is annoying) and now it's on a channel I don't get.

...

the whole sport wants to go back to 2 strokes, but factories make more money off four strokes (more parts) and >muh epa

my man

Theres a lot of commercials and a really good race is not rare, but not likely every time.

Ralph sheheen is a meme, we call him ralph shitheen

He's awful, but it's what we tolerate to watch moto.

He always says the corniest shit, he's like Mike Goldberg but 10x dumber and not likable

Emig is alright

Don't follow the sport but you put more effort into your post than the rest of the board combined.

Have a bump.

Also
>expecting anyone but paint huffin cousin fuckers to watch motor sports the night of a NFC wildcard and HNIC.

i'll turn it on. my viewing gets monitored by nielsen.

whenever i have watched this type of racing (dirtbikes or motorcycles or snowmobiles something like that - standing start, race lasts a few laps) i always wonder: how much does the race actually matter after the start? the actual racing on tv seems like a foregone conclusion because they'd just show the guy in the lead and no one would ever pass him.

and this is more of a general comment about racing series where the machines are highly differentiated across teams: i wish they would split up the driver/racers and the constructors. i'd like to see them randomly assign the racers to the car or bike for each race. at the end of the season, you know who was the best driver and who was the best constructor.

it doesn't have the constraints of indycar, but it doesn't have institutional inequality - best/most experienced drivers on the best resouced teams - of F1 or nascar.

Slightly off topic, but what happened to motorsport generals?

The only name I know in motocross is Travis Pastrana. Anyone I should follow?

ded sport competing with EPL and NFL

its not a meme, but yeah the start is pretty much 90% of the race, that is why outdoors is better (longer motos, you can comeback)

that is why JS7's (the most skilled rider ever) could do shit like this

youtube.com/watch?v=gCfGmLvWu4A&t=4s

when you have an open track, you can go so much faster then someone in front of you

They died out. Not enough posters

Have you seen his documentary 199 lives? Travis is unlike normal humans. He doesn't know what fear is. He is very special. He came out on a 500 two stroke for straight rhytm last year. That is beyond badass..

Travis could have easily been the best racer ever, but he was too big for the sport, he wanted to do bigger shit and he did

But honestly there aren't any riders like Travis.. and never will be desu. All the top guys are really fun to watch. Eli Tomac's style is sick, so is Kens. Dungey is kind of like a diesel locamotive, he takes a while to get going but once he does he doesn't slow down. Cooper Webb is a rookie and he has a clean style. They all do the same thing a little differently, but some riders are definitely levels above others

halp, is outdoors = supercross, indoors = arenacross?

Insufficient posting rate to keep threads alive during handegg Sup Forumsam season.

I'll check out the documentary, thanks!

outdoors = motocross, which is held outside
supercross = indoors, which is held in stadiums
areanacross = mini-sx, which is for amatures and smaller venues

outdoor does look a lot more entertaining than supercross

Yeah outdoors is where the real racing is, but Supercross isn't too bad and can produce some good racing sometimes, it just gets stale when its round 15 and the champ is 300+ points ahead. That sucks.

Also outdoor races are much longer and require much more endurance and overall are totally different suspension setups. Supercross races are basically controlled sprints and suspension setup can make or break how fast your bike goes at the top level

This seems more tier

yeah in the future im gonna post it there, gonna keep this one here for tonight

I'm watching tonight. Race a KTM 300XC and supporting my dudes Dean Wilson and Marvin Musquin

my nigga. that 300 must be a beast

I gotta respect wilson for going out there without a ride, that is what it takes.

marvin is always a contender for a win if he gets a start, especially this year with no injuries plus a good offseason

free stream

Yea Marvin has been riding well for sure. However I think this is Roczens year. He trashed everybody during the outdoors and I don't see Dungy having the speed

fuckin close

The time of the Frenchman has begun

250 heats about to start

holy fuck a SX live thread!

>yfw roczen rekts everyone

so what do you guys think about the new timed format?

My niggaaaaa

Roczen on that Honda is gonna rape

Davalos heat race GOAT

Much better than the lap format. It's more like the outdoors and I'm all for that.

At first I was against it but after realizing it will help make short tracks longer races, I'm all for it

My friend, stay away from there.
If it's not
>wrasslin
they will eat your thread alive.
Your best bet is /o/ or here.

Used to be into this when I was a kid. Went to several arena cross races with my old man too. How competitive is it now?

Also don't even bother with /asp/

jerermy martin gonna rape everyone this year on that geico honda

All the old guard (except for chad reed) are all out, james stewart, ricky, andrew short, etc. Ryan dungey Ken Roczen and Eli tomac are the guys to watch. Marvin Musquin and Jason Anderson too.

Competition in the 450's is really really good this year

250's is meh but has some promising rookies (forkner)

If it's still on after the playoff game I'm going to check it out. Got sick of McGrath and then Carmichael dominating back in the day . Really wish they raced 2 strokes still though. Brings back good memories.

>Those trees
hhnnngg

Chad Reed is like a surgeon with a motorcycle

Who /beerandsupercross/ here?

Roczen looking great but he always has the chance of just exploding immediately

redneck bike isn't a sport

Haha dungey losing

He'll probably retire next year

He can't keep with the new kids and they take bigger risks than he does

they're the most fit athletes on the planet

I tried telling my health teacher this and just got laughed at

people are ignorant

450 semi's, then LCQ, then main events start (ie the real racing)

250 main starting

RIP Forkner

Cri

I hope he doesn't turn out as disappointing as Cianciarulo

I think Mitch pushes kids too hard, puts too much pressure on them

Definitely, Mitch is a goon.

Funny story, I met Mitch at a Buffalo Wild Wings after the Washougal Nationals. Interesting fella but he seems in a perpetually bad mood even when eating delicious wings.

That is hilarious.

I would probably be in a bad mood 24/7 if I was paralyzed too though

True that. I like the attitude Doug Henry has though. Seeing him on his modified bike brings a smile to my face.

I don't think we get it here

because it's dumb

God Washougal is such a shithole. Went to high school there.

why is an /asp/ie thread doing on Sup Forums
