Only do it if you're 100% on the design. We don't want to see your ass back here complaining about your shitty regrets.

it hurts

dont get tattooos, that shit is for niggers and cute girls

they'll only help you get laid if you're already attractive.

Easy-ish

Yeah. I might draw out the designs.

what?

What do you mean, "What?"

make sure you get some on your face and neck so people can tell what kind of person you are without getting too close

i mean what the fuck do you mean by "easy-ish?"

One of them was going to be a drawn-up neck tattoo

Don't. Cheap. Out.

This will be on you for the rest of your life. This tattoo should cost a mini fortune. If the phrase to describe your tattoo is "it wasn't too expensive", then you can guarantee it's shit. The people I know that have gotten tattoos, of the good ones, they all say it cost them thousands of dollars. If someone is offering to do a multi hour piece for only a hundred or so bucks, then fucking run. Don't be taken aback if a good tattoo artist has a going rate of 200-300 dollars an hour. A tattoo should be something you need to save up for. It is a big life decision, so the financial aspect should be as big, if not bigger.

Research. Research. Research.

Check the artists Instagram page, Facebook page, catalogue, etc. View their work in person if you at all can. Ask around and see what everyone thinks and rates them. With a decision as serious and life lasting as this one, don't be passive. If anything, this is the time to be as picky as possible. Artist does good work, but their lining sometimes isn't the straightest? Forget them. It won't be somehow different for you. You should expect perfection, and a good tattoo artist, would also expect that of themselves.

Last but not least;

Choose. Something. Timeless.

Lyrics from a band that will be gone in 5 years; your girlfriends name; that one quote you love; that new art style that you swear will never go out of style; ANY LETTERING IN A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN YOUR OWN;
ALL OF THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND WONT HOLD UP TO THE TEST OF TIME.

Oh, okay. I know how to get girls, mostly. I rely on tips I gather and test from other people.

That;s pretty solid advice. Thanks.

Tattoo artists are such garbage people. They think they are artists because they can trace butterflies onto people.

I don't care if they floss their asscracks with yarn. I just need a person I can pay to do a decent job of giving me a tattoo.

I'm just saying all of them are a pain in the ass so be ready for that. Some of the most pretentious shitheads you will ever encounter. They think they have this mysterious amazing skill that you should pour out buckets of money for when 90% of their job is tracing Japanese letters onto people.

Hell get a needle and do it yourself and skip having to deal with tattoo shop faggots. It'll make you look tougher too.

True

Fun story: My gf apprenticed at a tattoo shop for a few months and they gangbanged her and she felt too embarrassed to go back so she quit.

jesus christ...

got any pictures?

Forgot to add.

Placement. The placement.

Placement of your first tattoo is so crucial. Never put your first tattoo in a location that is open/viewable in a normal environment. I know this sounds weird, but bear with me.

There is a very real possibility of tattoo regret. For many reasons:

Work restrictions
Outgrowing the tattoo
Colour fading over time
Tattoo meaning changing
Body changes
Not enjoying tattoos in general

All of these can affect your love of your tattoo. If you put the tattoo somewhere that is not regularly visible in a normal environment (long pants, long/short sleeve) then you can hide the tattoo easily in case your attitude towards it changes.

Think it would be great to put your first tattoo on the back of your hand, neck, chest, forearm, etc? What happens if a month in, you fucking hate it? Now everyone will always ask you about the tattoo you hate; you'll always have to see it all times of the day and be constantly reminded of the mistake you made, etc. Choose proper placement.

Not to mention, as much as people want to think that the working world has somehow dropped the pre conceived notions on tattoos; it hasn't. Many jobs will not accept applicants with hand, neck, face, and even lesser viewable places like forearm and shins. Keep all of this in mind. Do you really want a 2000 dollar hand tattoo keeping you from your dream job? I don't think so.

I don't want to scare you. Getting a tattoo is a rite of passage for some people. Their whole lives. You might really enjoy it. I just want you to not make the rookie, impulse, illogical mistakes that so many people do.

I wasn't there. Learned about it the next day. It was 4 old dudes. She was 19. I know it sounds like a stupid porno but it's 100% true. And I'm still with her.

>inb4 cuck

Cannot stress enough that you should pay for a good artist it's not worth it with a run of the mill artist, my last piece btw
