I've spoken to him on Skype about it.
He's had a 're-think' about some of his opinions, especially his antidemocratic and racial views, because he believes to have finally 'lifted himself from depression' and realised that he was espousing those ideas from pain, rather than from logic or need.
His girlfriend has had a moderating influence on him and has talked him out of a lot of things, including the channel. And he doesn't feel right being a 'leader' of the alt-right.
That's the long and short of it.
He probably met a single non-white person that he liked and it changed his whole perspective.
