that's actually really fucking cool

"town" a miniature glitch model of one of the towns I found way off of the actual game track

the blue one is an impulse code (forgot which number) that summons a hairy face, really odd.

this is true art

thanks anons

you have any more to post? i'm really into this

keep up the good work, user

I've got two more planned, but these are the ones I currently finished

24 x 30cm
oil on primed linen canvas

i spawned a lot of vortigaunts for one and shot them in one corner. it's gonna be "vortigaunt holocaust"

mainly looking for glitch moments in HL2 and really odd angles. noclip is really helpful and gets a bit of insight into the development scraps that ended up in the final game

noice work, mate.

post this on reddit or something, im sure you'll get upvotes. I'm looking forward to seeing vortigaunt holocaust

>my trips don't lie

thx user

checked

ugh, dude, did you just recommend reddit?
nuh, i'll just let you guys know, good enough

do you remember that scene in the apartments at the beginning where you get stuck on some stairs that broke and then a bunch of metro cops come beat the shit out of you only to have the girl save you?

i think once without noclip i tricked the game into triggering the metro cops to appear and i was looking down at them and they had to come up the stairs to get me, and i remember it being rather silly

yeah i did that as well, it stopped the game, because the cutscenes couldn't finish.
but I enjoyed the view from the window, with that town built sort of halfway, bc fuck it nobody sees it.

oh yeah, noclipping around town was amusing. those were good times

46$

20$

28$

Post more.

I've always been way more intruiged by looking behind the walls than actually following the gameplay.
American McGees Alice was also very odd in that way. You'd find a lot of places that you normally don't see or that wouldn't have needed to be so detailed, but they left it that way.

bigger, higher res images please.

dude, that barely covers materials. kek. no can do.

sorry mate, that's about as big as i want them to be on here. i can follow up with a small detail view, if you like.

bizarre idea, but it's pretty good user. Keep it up

I have no idea of size, that's why the prices are low.

i think you meant to say, you have no ideas about prices.

photos are from my shitty mobile phone, most details completely lost
cloth structure is visible though. basically "landscape painting" taken one step further

i'm surprised no one's giving me shit yet.

for all I knew they were done on 4x6 canvas. You can buy those for a few bucks.

then comes paint, which is a consumable. Really depends on how you use it.

finally the tools, which you already have and keep so they shouldn't count in the price of the painting.

wow its so cheap i should start painting my own hl2 glitch pieces

i don't buy canvases, i make them myself, including the primer. ready canvas from the shop is shit to work on, because the structure is sterile and too even. materials add up to some 25$ including oil paint and terps.

10'' x 12'' btw

good lad. then how much do you ask, instead of doing this cat and mouse pointless argument?

$0

generally, that size canvas would sell for around 200-450$, depending on many economic factors (gallery price etc).

awesome user!

i did some glitches some years ago and recorded them with fraps.
i put them in a rar file which is on its way to teh internets.
if anyone is interested, feel free to have a look.
sry for the mad filehoster but files are to big to create reasonable webms (i tested it).

!!

oy! you have my attention user. ima click dat like there's no tomorrar

shit, you're like talented bro

ye, but be careful with that hoster. i know its shitty but i fund no better solution right now...

i like to paint porn scenes

looks like all its trying to give me is mackeeper
shit meng! any other way? direct link?

in other words, put the shittiest "drawing filter" the internet has to offer on it?

and sometimes whores

thx mate!

shit, are you actually selling these?

i'd literally buy one

not very appealing topic tbh

Dillon Harper?

i am, and i could arrange shipment to any place. they weight like 250g (0.8 pound)

more like Photo Shopper

this one looks way better. hope i works.

workupload.com/file/s5ekHfk

... meaning, worldwide shipment is not a problem. steady packaging is all it needs. I've shipped far bigger canvases already.

wow, nice!

how much do you want for them
OP? Give us a price range

put them up on etsy if you're really looking to sell them

at my current rate (gallery price), they'd sell for 425$ each

holy fuck man i'm out. too expensive. cool idea but you've gotta find a way to make them cost less to produce so you can sell them for less.

that might seem like a good idea, but it actually isn't. you lose credibility selling paintings that way. it's a bit like prostitution in a way.

I've seen minimal pieces, pencil on paper, same size, selling for 1.700$

oil on canvas is one of the most traditional media for paintings. the canvas is handmade, draped, glued, primed and all

this is a pretty niche subject. average art collectors probably won't care about vidya glitches. an hl2 obsessive might, but they probably won't have $425 to spend on a painting.

have you done any similar paintings of portal or portal 2 scenes?

Do you do stuff on the og Portal as well? That one could be just as glitchy

hey it worked :D cool clips, thanks!!
lol, that floating cone

it depends on the idea and the concept. there is a consistency, especially taking all pieces in one series. the tradition of landscape painting has its own theoretical basis and this is basically expanding on the subject. we are entering an age of virtual reality that is going to be indistinguishable from reality. old vidya games were the blueprint to this developement.

425$ for that size canvas is actually an entry price

I've looked into the original Portal and they've gotten rid of almost every test area in the game. there's almost no extra rooms you can find with noclip and the few glitches I found were not as appealing. The only cool thing you can explore is the room with the cake at the very end

puddems is love

1700$ for a painting isn't from a nobody on Sup Forums, and isn't glitch art.

Start by asking $200 and opening an online shop.

that's too low, buddy. i'm not selling shoes: materials plus a few bucks more on top isn't how this works. i know this sounds a bit highbrow

this is just about 5% of my works and there are many other topics and far bigger paintings (5.5' by 5.1' etc)

$1700 is a month's pay for some of us "regular" people. So yes, that price would be a bit highbrow.

consider at least 10 years of learning the craft and in that time, you literally need a fultime job and spend all the time you have to study, learn how to use materials, see exhibitions, exhibit yourself, develope your own work flow, ideas, concepts, a bit of philosophy etc. etc.

you sound very pretentious, even if your arent, you fuckin sound like it.

black mesa glitcher here.

the mixture and leeway of your art has a real potential to get fabled one day.
at some point the old gamers will get financially strong.
you have to be patient. but notice you also need some flagships for advertisment.
id suggest to sell only some of your work atm.

I consider it, but as I said for regular people it's just not affordable. Art is apparently for the rich - and most gamers who would love a hlGlitcH painting on their wall - are not.

also, a rule of thumb: you produce a body of work, say like 50 pieces. then you exhibit and try to show it as often as possible. and if you manage to sell one, you can basically work freely on your stuff for a month, that's a pretty good deal. you need to be lucky though.

i'm not sure if you know what I'm getting at, but it is actually reasonable to make your own canvases. the ones you get in hobby shops are for decoration purposes only. they are machine made and very sterile, as I said. The more lively the base is, the more the entire piece profits. depending on your needs, of course. If you need a sterile base, go for a ready primed canvas. it's just two different choices, I don't really see how it is pretentious. A steel hammer and a wood hammer are two different tools as well.

I did sell drawings to a guy who really really wanted them and way ready to pay a similar price. If you're pationate about something, you pay the price.

>I did sell drawings to a guy who really really wanted them and way ready to pay a similar price. If you're pationate about something, you pay the price.
yeah but its most likely not HL glitch art, which is excessively niche. shoot gaben an email though, might be lulzy and they buy your shit for the HL3 dev offices

I'm speculating that it will be like this. Hell, HL and HL2 are already like the Shakespeare of video games, to exaggerate it a little. Video game history is a real thing. I grew up playing NES, SNES and games like Terranigma were our modern fairy tales

lol, you think so? Yeah might as well try. I'd be so fucking hyped if they'd hang them in their offices.

That's actually pretty cool.

ey thx!

ngl this is rad as fuck dude, keep it up

shit even if you could work out donating them or something it would be a great portfolio builder, idk.

could be like 'yeah my shit is at the offices of steam'

kewl thanks mate

yeah that, or it might backfire "lol, it's that guy who paints HL2 and made it into their office."
