I wouldve put Shaking The Habitual for 2013 but I really need to listen to that album more, but that and Yeezus are the only two big releases that mattered of that year, which is sad

I feel like 2017 is the year of slept on fantastic albums

>AJJ
>Not bad
cuck
Explain.
No, that's Ludovic Einaudi. Max Richter actually writes his music from an intellectual bent, he just isn't concerned with pioneering a bold, atonal or otherwise style.

AJJ is bad but at least they had more diverse picks than anyone else.

2010: Teen Dream - Beach House
2011:Helpless Blues - Fleet Foxes
2012: Indler Wheel... - Fiona Apple
2013: Modern Vampires of the City - Vampire Weekend
2014:Lost in the Dream - The War on Drugs
2015:Carrie and Lowell - Sufjan Stevens
2016:Blackstar - David Bowie
2017: Cracked up - Fleet Foxes

>diverse = good

Yes. And not-Pitchfork is better than Pitchfork. These are facts.

Why'd you drop trip?

Hahahaha who do you think I am? If you're right I'll answer.

Can I get the album names for these? I'm big on Everything Everything and I'd like to hear stuff like it.

>I'm big on Everything Everything
go to your local Hits station

Your diction and taste reminds me of Boldfaure, no?

well, he has all the arrogance, but didn't suck off scott walker, so who knows

Well...yeah. All right, I dropped trip for a few reasons. The main reason is this:

Obviously I was really combative on Sup Forums because I got really sick of all these idiots being considered "knowledgeable" on Sup Forums and RYM. So I intentionally trolled and aggressively fought with some people just in an effort to get people to think more critically about music. And actually I think it often worked out.

But the problem was this: the overly-aggressive, magnified trolly behavior became the way I was looking at the music these hacks listened to. And while I still don't think things like Arnalds and Frahm are on par with Lachenmann and Ferneyhough, I looked at them with more distant eyes and realized there's quite a lot to love and appreciate.

This made me think about other classical music (popular music is still generally shite by my eyes) that I have slighted for similar reasons and so I felt the best course of action was to remove the trip, remove my RYM, start a new one and just in general become more honest and less trolly.

2010: MBDTF
2011: Section 80/Exmil
2012: One of the best years ever for music but The Money Store was my fav
2013: Doris
2014: RTJ 2
2015: E.Mo.Tion
2016: The Impossible Kid
2017: Big Fish Theory

lmao it is you.
god you're insufferable.

good fucking taste op. I agree with everything except 12,13,17.

Too bad I'm still one of only two people ITT with good taste.

What does that make you, anyways?

2010: Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
2011: Fleet Foxes- Helplessness Blues
2012: Death Grips - No Love Deep Web
2013: Tyler, the Creator - Wolf
2014: Lupe de Lupe - Quarup
2015: Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
2016: NxWorries - Yes Lawd!
2017: Dirty Projectors - Dirty Projectors

>not being from a mainstream music magazine = diverse
I hate pitchfork as the guy next door but get your words right

>Being so contrarian you think Hilary Hahn is good let alone AOTY

listening to obscure music or le classical =/= having good taste

I still like you boldy

Holy shit I think you may legitimately have autism. Like not even meme autism but genuine autism. Jesus christ

27 Encores was a huge project and learning all of them to that level of technique is highly commendable.
Add to it that 2013 was a pretty slow year, though...
And listening to MBDTF and Sufjan is better? LOL.
hey I know you do! I didn't quit because I felt "hated" or anything, in fact I really felt quite accepted in some ways. It's just the fact that it was affecting my own listening habits and appreciation of music.

MBDTF is better than most of modern classical shit which is made only for pretentious autists

I cracked up at that.

Hahahahahaha how so? What new ideas does it offer? What emotional highs does it communicate? The album's compressed to hell and consistently loud. The heavily memed autotune section is decent but it's the one emotional moment on the album.

And Nicki Minaj's verse is shit.

I hate to agree with this guy but MBDTF is nt great. Like its a 6

...

shit taste

>Hahahahahaha how so?
it sounds better and it has more meaning than that pretentious garbage which most likely has no meaning whatsoever
>And Nicki Minaj's verse is shit.
wrong

you either have no taste or you pretend to
either way kys

this is an argument you're going to lose
quit while you're behind

>this is an argument you're going to lose
how so?

People who can't into all types of music at least a little bit are awful. Especially hip hop. If you can't jam with friends you are a stick in the mud.

I do appreciate you dropping your trip and being more honest though.

>it sounds better
How does it "sound better?" What metric do you use that has MBDTF "sounding better?" You seem to not understand what you are talking about.
I like some Hip Hop. Public Enemy is great. Instrumental Hip Hop is almost universally good.

Putting scores on albums is for children. And if you don't think it conveys strong emotion you're just missing something. Something about the album disagrees with you and that's fair. You're just wrong though. There's proof my nigs.

listened to far to little from this year and 2015 was har as fuck,

have not listened to any of the albums except the swans ones and they are good so i guess you get a 6/10

>I don't like when black people speak on tape

it sounds better for my ears. it's enjoyable. i didnt expect i had to explain this for you

>all black music is Rap/Hip Hop
you fucking racist

Stellar argument. You really prove yourself more knowledgeable than me, kid. Let me know when you get into actually good music.

>beats by instrumental artists are the same as those that make beats for rapping on

obscure garbage and classical =/= good music

...but it is

...

I don't even know what youre trying to say but it made me giggle

my taste is a bit shitty but I can say with confidence that I like many of the albums you guys posted ;)))))

Very good decade overall though
Sad this was limited to one per year, because each year has been filled with great releases, especially because of bandcamp allowing you to hear releases from all over the place in all kinds of styles for free through streaming.

>obscure garbage =/= good music
yeah, no shit, if it's "garbage", it's obviously not good music. no idea why you latched onto the obscure bit though

Why are you so mad? Some people like some music, and others like other kinds. Just because they aren't into a certain type as much as you doesn't mean they have a bad taste. I listen to 3-6 albums a day, but I don't go up to my friends and sperg out because they listen to different music than me or music that's more popular. Just cool down, and remember that music, as a whole, is a beauty that brings people together. It's nothing to fight over!

i'm not him, mate. i just wondered why you even bothered to say that "garbage =/= good music" because that's something that everyone knows. won't make any statements on your taste until i know more about it.

You're a pretty big guy
