First day of intro to film studies class

>first day of intro to film studies class
>teacher introduces us by asking our favorite movie
>pick something too popular and everyone will call you a pleb
>pick something too obscure and arty and everyone will call you a pseud
>can't think of anything that perfectly rides the line between art and entertainment
>my turn to say favorite film
>panic and say Citizen Kane
>everyone laughs
>teacher says that's an "interesting choice"
>tfw have to drop out of class and give up dreams of being a filmmaker

Fag.

...

Say donnie darko and impress everyone

>going to film school
go to films

>pick something too popular and everyone will call you a pleb
>pick something too obscure and arty and everyone will call you a pseud

stop being a pussy

>not going on a rant about how picking a favorite film means you aren't serious about this hobby and are inherently a casual

>Not saying Stalker

So what you're saying is that you're too scared to name your fave movie, because others might judge you? Nub.

any Tarantino film would have sufficed

Always answer with The Big Lebowski. Always.

Transformers, easily.

...

>tfw you actually don't have a favorite film

>not picking Fight Club and roasting every pseudo-intellectual who thinks he's grown out of his 'edgy phase' and doesn't see it as a great piece of work anymore

Fuck everyone who judges people by their favourite movie. I bet cool directors like some shitty flicks too, so nevermind those pussies.
You either have talent or not. Your taste may be weird.

SHUT THE FUCK UP DONNIE

What's your favorite movie?

What the most offensive movie by it's own mere existence? My go to is to think of films like Caligula, 120 days of and Cannibal Holocaust, but maybe you can really go the distance and say your favorite is something like Triumph of The Will just to show how much you don't give a shit.

Pure kino

Deadpool

Why not just tell them your favorite movie?

Worst case scenario in my head is that I can't pick one and sit there like a retard thinking about it. I'd probably just say Excalibur.

Zodiac, I think. But the other day I may call another one. So what, you're trying to meme?

Patrician as fuck

Spring Breakers.

Fag

hah, good choice.
I wish I could upvote this comment.

>tfw someone actually named Marvel films
>tfw someone truly believes that The Winter Soldier was robbed of Best Screenplay/Best Picture
>tfw that same someone thought Days of Future Past was robbed on directing

Kids in college today might make excuses for that movie though because all their favorite actresses from Disney are in it.

I agree with you, but I have a friend who started film school because he liked Tarantino at the time, he also started to argue with me about how deep is Evangelion and how I dont understand it

Did you forgot to attach an image?

Was that someone you?

Class may hate you but by sucking that teachers cock by saying Citizen Kane you automatically pass the year

Jello to my perfect taste? Poor pleb, go watch some shit.

The only patrician answer is: I don't have a favourite movie, but recently I watched __________ and liked it.

>I bet cool directors like some shitty flicks
Terrence Malick's favorite film is Zoolander, you can google if you don't believe me.

yes ;^)

...

Zoolander is literally the best kino made in the past thirty years.

He's a great film maker but it's obvious IRL he's a major pleb, I think he's even a Christian

What a kuck pussy faggot.
He was just saying 'fuck you' politely.

Did you just tip your fedora?

Would
>I don't have a favourite movie, but recently I watched Citizen Kane and liked it
be a patrician answer too?

Pick Hero (2002) and say you think Donnie Yen and Jet Li are incredible and you love seeing them in film

>impress intellectuals because it's artsy
>impress normies because they have heard of Jet Li
>satisfy prof because they're really looking to segue into a discussion on genre and no one else in the class will pick a fighting movie

This is the perfect selection

I ALWAYS say Who Framed Roger Rabbit

It's not my one favorite film, but not even the up-his-own-assiest étudiant du kinéma has something legitimately bad to say about it

...

this

Yes of course, Citizen Kane is kino.
By stating it that way it looks like you appreciate good cinema while not being pretentious.

But you DID understand Eva and regognize how complex and refined it is right ?

i like to say conan the barbarian, and it's actually truely my favourite film.

i think it got both artsy and popcorn vibe, plus john milius, you come out as a patrician

>not saying The Fifth Element
Plebs, all of you.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Some of the gags are a bit forced, especially valiant's song when he makes the villains laugh to death

Also the effects are really dated now but that's not really their fault. You look at the fall scene and it's almost laughable and not in a comedic way.

Still a solid comedy. Too slapstick for modern tastes, but a product of its time.

It's a good pick, only the numales and radfems will roll their eyes.

>not saying Equalibrium
Sci fi Matrix themed kino

That's pretty neat. A question like this is so subjective that I'll bet the teacher probably wants to hear answers like that.

I can rattle off kino if I want, and I sincerely enjoy a lot of it but I got my go to comfy films too.

i know, that's the cherry on top

this also works

Stanley Kubrick loved White Men Can't Jump kek.

If you only want to impress the plebs in the class, say Blade Runner.

If you want to impress the plebs and be deemed acceptable by the snobs, say Stalker.

If you want to be considered among the snobs, say Colour of Pomegranates.

>he also started to argue with me about how deep is Evangelion and how I dont understand it
I hope you killed him

>Equalibrium

>can't think of anything that perfectly rides the line between art and entertainment
just say Barton Fink

citation?

thats p funny

Triumph of the Will is in fact an amazing film and if your prof smirks at the suggestion then you know he's not really a good film teacher.

theverge.com/2013/8/1/4580236/stanley-kubrick-favorite-films-british-film-institute

if you only want self respect say what ever the fuck and be alpha

This
NWR loves Texas Chainsaw Massacre

based kubrick

tcm was legit a good film

Once upon a time in the west.

Say no more, pham.

>How will I get the class to think I'm a redditor?

I would have said 300 and then commented on how historically accurate it was

Should have said:

>Good Will Hunting
followed by
>How do you like them apples?

You would have made everyone laugh, and bitches would line up to suck your dick.

>Robocop
Bitches leave

>not saying The Cuckold

I agree and I love it too
But it's not the type of pick you would expect and there are lots of people up their own ass who would look down on it

>no country for old men
a-am I pleb?

>>pick something too popular and everyone will call you a pleb
>>pick something too obscure and arty and everyone will call you a pseud
Giving this much of a shit about what other people might think about you?
You sound like a woman. get ur testicles checked.

Just pick something from Charlie Chaplin and you will be good senpai

>not saying the Usual suspects
>not saying American Psycho
Hell you could even say 12 angry men and noone could say anything about it.

Who /Snatch/ here?

>he didnt grab a seat in the back ten minutes before class
>he didnt rank his classmates as they entered the room
>he didnt note each answer as it was given along with any noteworthy reactions thereto, weighted by rank
>he didnt calculate which actor was being represented most in the best answers
>he didnt pull up that actor's imdb in order to choose a film no one mentioned yet, knowing that this answer--the film--is a dupe, merely a segue for telling trivia about the actor
>he didnt read all the trivia
>he didnt keep his cool as he announced his year pgps and major
>he didnt smoothly glance at the highest ranked students as he slid into trivia
>he didnt ask them if they knew any of that
>he didnt soak in their confusion
>he didnt say 'yes sir' when the teacher told him they had to move on

>he didnt take one last look at the quailing alphas afterward

no one would laugh

only acceptable thing to do

Fuck everyone who thinks a favorite movie isn't an indicator of taste. You're just insecure.

You're an idiot

>not saying Man of Steel

I don't have a favourite movie but I'd probably say Blade Runner

There's nothing wrong with liking shitty flicks.

There is plenty wrong with having a shitty flick be your absolute favourite movie.

The accent he delivers is fuckin terrible.

>ur

Retard

You're such a cuck

t.someone who's favourite movie is the Avengers

Insecure? That doesn't make any sense.

>favoUrite
what is wrong with you guys?

How does that pic work?

Gaspar Noe's Love, obviously

>ameriblubbers
don't forget to shart in the mart.

Collateral was bredy gud.
