This. Painted turtles are pretty chill, I had one as a kid at one point. If you keep it make sure it has plenty of water to swim around in. A tank with an island or two for them to rest suits them pretty well.

They are okay pets but their tanks are gross, they need lots of care and if anything goes wrong the vet bill/even finding a vet is a pain. Find him a nice pond or lake and he'll be happier there.

I could be wrong, but I think that's a box turtle. You can't go wrong with putting it back where you found it, or just anywhere in an especially wooded area. Or you can keep it as pet. When I lived in Kentucky we used to find these everywhere and once in a while we'd keep one in a tank as a pet. It just eats lettuce, carrots, fruit, and other vegetables. Have fun, and don't be a dick and do Sup Forums shit to it.
