He was accused of accepting a bribe and apparently the judge was going to throw the book at him with something like a 50 year sentence.
He did it in front of everybody because it was likely the only feasible way he could have, seeing as how he got the gun handed to him in an envelope that was supposed to contain a statement or something like that.

Downloaded this video on limewire over a decade ago along with a bunch of other clips of people dying on camera
most of them had no sound, but this one was the full shebang. It was nasty stuff, but what really got me was the guy who takes the mic afterwards and says something like "someone call 911, everyone out, god help us all"
That affected me. I didn't sleep well that night. I got desensitized in the years following, but now i have kids and i'm totally fucking pussied up again because i imagine the bad shit happening to them
