How to fix Rotten Tomatoes

There needs to be a better rating system which rates each film via its story, characterizations etc

For instance. No way is Mad Max Fury Road a 97% whilst Ridley Scott's Gladiator is at 70%.

Gladiator has a way better story than Fury Road by miles.

The difference is in the critics. How they review movies now, and how they did it back then. Now reviews are more politically oriented, or driven by fan sentiment. They are more likely to hate on a film because of the message on the surface, rather than because of the symbolism or the cinematography. Blame postmodernism.

Anyway, there have always been shitty critics and shitty reviews, but with the internet you also have a larger pool of unprofessional retards with their opinion being heard.

They need to abandon the tomatometer and simply use the out of ten system. They can still express it as a percentage if need be, but there is no reason for a pass/fail system AND a weighted average but they do.

Fuck rottentomatoes. Stop caring about what other people thinks you should enjoy and try and watch what you think you might like. Develop your own taste and don't be a fucking faggot afraid to like a movie panned by the critics.

The critics loved Mad Max. In the latest poll by BBC it was in top 20 best films of 21st century. Gladiator wasn't even mentioned in top 100.

this sounds like how to fix reviews not how to fix rotten tomatoes. all rotten tomatoes does is let you know if the average critic liked or disliked a movie. A movie could be rated 6 out of 10 across the board and would still get 100% fresh whereas another movie could get get 9 out of 10 rating except one reviewer didn't like it and it would have a lower freshness.

inherently flawed like most sites that give number scores still serves a purpose tho

>They are more likely to hate on a film because of the message on the surface, rather than because of the symbolism or the cinematography. Blame postmodernism.

Postmodernism would do the exact opposite. Form over function. A pretty movie about bullshit would be better reviewed than a good story shot like a movie-of-the-week.

People still don't know RT is just an aggregator?

Guess you better make a thread asking how to fix Metacritic then?

>Gladiator wasn't even mentioned in top 100.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>For instance. No way is Mad Max Fury Road a 97% whilst Ridley Scott's Gladiator is at 70%.
This is not how R.T works tho.
One is at 8.5 and the other is at 7.3 actually.

> make new website
> call it sour grapes
> make it crawl Sup Forums for specific keyword/s followed by an out of ten rating that anons post

SJWs genocide when?

The only way to fix it is to just ignore it. It's not really fixing though, but your life and movie experiences would be better.

Gladiator was a shitty movie

All you really need to do is fix yourself by ceasing to browse Rotten Tomatoes.

>For instance, I like this movie.
Okay? What's the point of this thread?

Gladiator was over-long and sloppily directed, the action scenes are a mess.

Rotten tomatoes wasn't really around when Gladiator came out. If it was I'm sure it would have a much higher rating because all the critics would have gotten swept up in pre and post release hype. All the reviews on RT for Gladiator are in hindsight so people were less impressed as they moved away from the hype.

Who cares what other people think anyway.

Fire the people in charge

...

Get rid of the tomatometer. It's completely redundant and people don't know what it means. Just use the average rading and express it as a percentage.

>In the latest poll by BBC it was in top 20 best films of 21st century. Gladiator wasn't even mentioned in top 100

The original Ghostbusters was rereleased in 2014 to celebrate the movie's 30th anniversary.

i like how that image actually shows how pure he is
