Best movie Director Thread

Best movie Director Thread.
Nobody tops Mel Gibson this is fact, almost all other directors are past their prime and haven't had the consistency of Gibson. The guy may be a alcoholic and have his problems but the man knows how to make a quality film.

Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto are works of art, a couple of the very few subtitled movies that deliver on all levels in which you don't get bored.

Braveheart and Hacksaw Ridge are some of the best war films of all time.

If you don't agree with this you are part of the intellectual decline in this country any sort of true movie enthusiast would agree with this assessment.

Mel Gibson hasn't made a bad film to date.

Fair point. All good films.

What about this dude?

Quentin Tarantino is washed up and past his prime, he was put up on a pedestal and now can't deliver like he once did.

>Nobody tops Mel Gibson this is fact

name a single film clint directed that you think is bad.

and don't just be a dick.

Isnt he younger than Mel?

The Changeling, Flags of are Fathers, and Space Cowboys were sub-par 7/10 movies..While they were decent they aren't anywhere near the level of Gibsons. Clint Eastwood is solid but doesn't have the 100% consistency like Mel Gibson.

He may be the best dirctor, he's undoubtedly very good. But your post makes me want to punch your pompous ass in the face.

Some people go past their prime faster than others.

>doesn't have the 100% consistency like Mel Gibson.

we'll see where mel is in his eighties, until a career is over you can't really judge the 2.

you have me at mel hasn't done anything too bad yet.

honorable mention is hitchcock.

that dude was decent, going all the way back to his early shorts.

I totally agree. I can't wait for his next movie. Apocolypto is by far one of my favorite movies.

Apocalypto was an historical mess though. He found the guys who could speak the maya language, but couldn't get the basics of tue historical events right (putting the pox before the spanish and stuff like that). Yes he is a good director but the way he aproaches historicity in his movies is lazy af; and that makes them suck in a special way you don't expect from a movie of a certain quality.

Mel Gibson should be the next Old Man Wolverine.

>Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto are works of homo-erotic torture porn
FYP

Django Unchained?

A drunken Mel Gibson clawing the shit out of everyone is exactly what this world needs.

>a couple of the very few subtitled movies that deliver on all levels in which you don't get bored
I like Mel's movies quite a bit, but you sound like a fucking moron.

I'm guessing you never though that maybe the Spaniards were already there and that the shop you see in the end is a second wave.

This much autism.

Danny Devito and Clint Eastwood are both insanely great and arguably equal.

...

...

I loved Hateful Eight

it might be your expectation that is getting in the way, people shit all over jackie brown and that flick is fucking great.

everyone is always looking for that first orgasm again and again, it's not going to happen.

quentin is still making quality the way he wants.

and i admire that.

Because you can't handle this sort of in your face truth? Do you need a safe space, should i be more gentle with you?

The funniest line in motion picture history is,

>Hey the car didn't hit no motherfuckin' bump!

Yes I thought about it. If that was the case everybody should be talking about the white people arriving instead of some lame prophecy made out by a random girl. Nobody mentions that... Hey priest.. how about making some sacrifices to make the white people go?. You know.. the ones who brought the disease in the fist place? .

But that is the least of the problems it has. How about mixing Mayans and Aztecs for example?. And let's not start talking about the patriot dude.

Yes.. in this case victors AND defeated agree Mel Gibson should have done his research right.. I mean.. he can at least ask a highschool teacher right?. Not like they charge a lot for it.

Sometimes certain things don't translate well on the big screen our box office numbers would get hurt if it was more historically accurate...300 is the perfect example of this....Had a million historical errors. But would have been much shittier if more accurate. Nobody wants to see a bunch of sand niggers killing Spartans the whole time.

Yes that is true.. however 300 can be excused since it is the tale from a spartan's perspective and a comic adaptation. There coud have been a gazillion sand niggers an 30 spartans and it could still work. But when you take the effort to go to the place and use the actual descendants of mayans... it gives the impression you care about accuracy at least at the mos basic levels. Anyway.. I enjoyed that movie. My point is Mel Gibson is a good story teller but he has some mayor flaws. Besides.. The real story for the conquest of the american continent has material for better stories than sime father trying to avenge and save his family.. which is kind of a repetitive subject in Mel's movies.

I understand it doesn't matter to a guy like you, but since OP is concerned about the "intellectual decline" well then historical accuracy becomes an issue. Anyway.. go back to the Adam Sandler movies you probably like so much... or those about bathtub time travel.. you should feel very comfortable watching thay shit.

The Coen brothers:
The Big Lebowski
No Country For Old Men
Fargo
Raising Arizona
O Brother Where Art Thou
Barton Fink

That movie, in a historical point of view is shit, and so the movie because it was intended for. Seems like he didn't read a book of that civilizations or even asking an expert.

Most movies don't have fantastic historical accuracy due to the United States always being biased as fuck sucking their own ego anytime they can.

...

Only seen The Passion and Braveheart, and only enjoyed braveheart.

The Passion was incredibly stupid and violent.

One of the few that had decent accuracy was Schindler's List.

>The Passion was incredibly stupid and violent.

please post your upper female pectorals or leave.

...

Fuck off Flanders, you know what I mean.

school us please, you seem to be an expert on a civilization that disappeared without a trace.

Overrated as FUCK

Quentin Tarantino reminds me of M Night Shyamalan, he gets established with a couple great movies then spends the next decade trying to recreate the same shit.

you just compared those 2.

i'm going to bang my head off a wall for a little bit.

Kek, same. What a faggot

Are you kidding? Have you seen Inglourious Basterds, Django, and Hateful Eight? Fuck are you on about.

>spends the next decade trying to recreate the same shit.

Yeah man, Hateful Eight, Kill Bill, and Pulp Fiction are all practically the same movie.
