I think it's mainly because feminism started off challenging "gender roles", it was easy to slip in something like being transgender. The wheels have fallen off now that the term "gender" has literally no definition in feminist circles.

I think transmen are treated differently because no one knows what to do with them.

Transitioning seems to lower their suicide rates very slightly, so that's the course they take.
