a lot of albanian diaspora are katunars, basically albanian version of seljaks, villager types that still lived in more or less ottoman conditions until the 1990s/early 2000s

now, thats not to portray some city elitism, most of them really nice folks if not a bit simple, but its usually their children that come out shit

i have a theory on why this is based on my friends/my experiences - some albanian parents can be unusually distant. for example they might focus on work and even when they come home they dont really interact with their kids that much. that loneliness will lead to a lot of freedom and thus no discipline, thats why you see so many albanian diasporalings drop out of high school
