How computer lit is avg Sup Forums user?

I already know, I will be told to put this in /tech/, but specifically interested in Sup Forums bc it impacts on how "we" as a group can operate in the upcoming greatest meme war in history, when those of us who intend to work against Sea Hag's shills will have to know what doing.

Back before Sup Forums was even Sup Forums, when we were a bunch of degenerates grouped together on Sup Forums, it seems like the vast majority of us knew our way around computers and the net, more or less.

These days, 95% of you niggers are fascinated by the idea of a VPN, have terrible opsec, and in general are just fucking awful. If you spent 1/20th of the time you spend of games learning to properly use your computer, you'd be very good at what you're doing.

also, you know how nasty it's going to get between us and SJWs and most of you (esp the new redditors who use the same "handles" here they use on twatter, le reddit, etc..) could be doxxed in 10 mins.

What's your excuse other than laziness? Spend a few weekends learning about opsec, vpns (never here of course), and just hoe to use your computer other than to chase the little guy around your screen...

didnt read your post but nice flag

(bear in mind, this board gave birth to the real "Anonymous" before the whole thing was hijacked by safe-space cucks who can't even pull off a ddos.

Their idea of "hacking" is telling the Mods on twatter to take down the Isis related accounts (and they even get the wrong ppl on that, and then have to apologize).

Why not just give up games for 6 months and learn what the fuck you are doing?

>didnt read your post but nice flag
exactly. I would expect nothing less from modern /pol./
Thanks for proving my point.

I used to be pretty good with PCs but I've not really used them for anything aside games since Windows XP. Where start?

>Why not just give up games for 6 months
Just because your kdr is negative doesn't mean you have to be a hater. It might surprise you, but a lot of people on here are not scared in any way of people knowing what they are saying on here.

When you study network security, you realize that absolutely everything is hackable and everyone is vulnerable. The best way to keep yourself secure is to keep a low profile. Studying social engineering is more beneficial in this regard than knowing how to use SQL injection or session hijacking.

>Where start?
Like anything else, trial and error. First of all, forget windows. For with Ubuntu or some version of Linux.

Or, go with a Mac. I know, it's a meme to rip Macs as overpriced and for hipster cucks, but the very same niggers will spend $4k for "the ultimate gaming pc."

Also, if you are a nigger allergic to reading, you can learn anything you want to know from YT "how-to" videos. Any issue you have (I was having problems plugging up a DNS leak last month), you can find out how to fix on a Yt vid.

>absolutely everything is hackable and everyone is vulnerable
Yes, if you are a sandnigger on the NSA list. For the avg white guy just trying to keep himself secure, good opsec is always worth it.

Also cheats the datamining Jew out of learning everything about you. If nothing else, as a matter of principle, all White americans.euros should have a decent VPN (never use on here of course) located overseas that does not keep logs and with no DNS leaks.
(the best VPN companies are the ones that will go to court to not give away info on pedarests, bc if they will protect scum of the earth they will def protect you).

All it takes is a few weekends and nights after work of research. Trust me, this is going to get nasty. I would not put it past them to try to dox all "White racist Trump supporters."

This site may well not even be safe.

I agree.

Doxxed in 10 minutes doesn't matter to me. A lot of us are NEETs and complete losers. Are they really able to shame Sup Forums?

In general I understand and grasp the fundamentals: Networks, Infosec, Hardware, Software, Vulnerability Scanning, Penetration Testing, Protocols, Cryptography, and laws pertaining to computer use and business practices.

It's not like I even keep regular security updates though. Who gives a shit? If someone was seriously interested and knew what they were doing then they'll get in. It's a lot of work when it doesn't really matter when it's a computer for personal use to do shit-posting or watch videos.

I find it funny that people still believe in security through obscurity and fuck their systems up because they think people aren't smart enough to see through their ignorance.

Phones are a different issue and you can't even get people to use a reasonable password because they're retarded.

It should still be in /tech/.

hahah made me reply/8

You don't need to know anything about network security to keep yourself from getting doxxed on the internet. Just don't use social media except for throwaway accounts. Even the best crackers alive can't steal information from your mind. Things are only as bad as they are because everyone and their mother feels compelled to turn over their whole life's story to the electric jewckerberg.

If Sup Forums was the main form of online communication instead of jewbook there would be no doxxing.

>half Sup Forums caring about security
kek

this, the only people who are in trouble are the ones who have social media accounts.

there isn't really a need to use a VPN or anything like that if you are just doing normal things. it isn't like the SJWs can get your IP from twitter or anything.

Alphabet soup has full access to Sup Forums at-least probably the rest of the site as well.

Though, you probably won't get v& if you are american.(yet)

But for all the bullshit posturing on here, I'd be the majority DO use kikebook bc they still are trying to "fit in."

Maybe I'm misremembering things here, i just feel like when I was 15.16 back around 09' or'10 and we were a group of degenerates on Sup Forums, it seemed majority of us knew what we were doing a lot more so than normies when it came to computers.

And it's not an issue of time or access, bc make a thread on games here and motherfuckers will know the intricacies of these games better tan their own names...

>thinking getting dox'd is about them finding your IP address

So they do what, exactly? To do anything with an IP they need to have contacts inside your ISP. They know, at best, your location within 100 miles. They'd need access to the ISP records so they can then cross-reference it with their billing records to find a name.

You're not dealing with Tumblr Warriors then, son. You're dealing with a massive multi-level international conspiracy with the same data access as the police.

As long as telling cunts and Australians to return to Reddit remains legal I've no concerns about the police laughing at memes about Jews.

You don't know shit if you think a few fat women on Twitter are a threat. Literally their entire "haxxor army" needs help finding out the name of who owns a domain, let alone tracking people down. The only people that have been "doxxed" by these hags were idiots posting with their real names tied to their Social Jew accounts.

"OPSEC." Lel. You're a moron trying to sound important.

What's a VPN?? 🤔

why would you fear getting v&? if you just post legal things then they can't do anything to you. but if you go threatening people anywhere on the internet then you will gain an unwanted following. the average Sup Forums user wouldn't be worth investigating.

>Ubuntu

OK, so I guess you just installed your first Linux distribution, used your first VPN , and probably "built" your first PC and posted in your first battle stations thread in Sup Forums.

Now you feel smug and like a real "hacker". So you make this thread.

At least recommend a Linux distro that's useful.

>backtrack
>arch
>Debian variants
Or maybe a Bsd OS

Like openbsd.

Vpns are over rated but since you're so PC literate why don't you recommend one?

Don't forget about useful Windows apps like

Powershell.

I have an Amazon and eBay account but generally keep a low profile online. This new Android somewhat concerns me, as it's the newest version an I'm not sure how deep Google's fingers dig.

do they still support backtrack? i thought it was discontinued a long time ago and they changed the name to kali.

I agree for normal Sup Forums

I big brother /k/ though and know how to make boom boom

all glory to the murder cube

I honestly can't understand people who use social media unironically or with their real information. I just don't understand the appeal, even without the security and privacy issues it just seems so awful. But I agree, it seems a lot of 4channers use social media, and they are probably vulnerable to being turned into reverse Carl the Cucks. I was just pointing out that it should be easy for anyone to be secure simulation by avoiding the social media jew.

Nah. I haven't kept up with it for years

I only really used it as a live cd to get my neighbors wifi password.

I didn't even know about Kali.

>Now you feel smug and like a real "hacker"
If you had the ability to read and weren't so busy trying to be a smug, condescending prick, you'd see I said I use a Mac and don't give a fuck about the stereotypes from same neckbeards who bitch about price and then spent $3k on "ultimate gaming computer."

The guy asked for a suggestion-- I suggested looking into linux and noted what could easily be found on Jewtube. I don't do "PCs" bc no matter what you say, an OS will always fit better when it is specifically constructed for the hardware it is built for. Period.

Also, NEVER claimed to be any sort of "hacker." Claimed that I practice good opsec and know my way around my own machine and the net.

Better luck next time fuckhead. Again, proving my point you can't focus on words longer than 5 seconds unless there are lasers and monsters in background.

>meet girl at bar
>add her on kikebook or twitter
>add her snapchat
>start getting nudes
>eventually fuck
It all comes down to girls user. They use social media, so therefore men use it. The same reason bars have ladies nights. Normies are the biggest whote knights out there.

You're correct.

>Thread about protecting yourself online and encouraging people to study computers
>Turns out OP is a filthy ignorant macfag

Systems administrator for 10+ years and now an IT Director, so pretty darn literate.

"get ubuntu instead of arch linux, the OS designed to learn about opsec"

I can program the fuck out of C at the lowest levels

like abusing setjmp / longjmp and variadic macros to write a hand-made multithreading scripting engine

>total damage control

Not at all. Computers are a Jewish conspiracy to dostract you and turn you into betas and slaves with porn and videogames.

Not that hard. People are desperate to "fit in" and haven't yet come to terms with fact that if you are a normal White and not a fag, trans, niggger-lover, whatever....anything you say can and will be used against you.

I went to a "prestigious" US college called Williams, and the first week was drinking a bit and saw a gut with a "Tupac" poster of the nigger making a gang sign.

I said "You know what that means? It means 'kill whitey." From then on, had a reputation as a "racist" on campus. So I just became obsessed with the gym and got big enought hat no one would fuck with me.

I got out of uni before literlly every mothefucker had a cellhone with a camera. How people exist in that sort of environment, I don't know.

If I were going to uni today, I'd probably try to get into BYU or some sort of decently ranked "Christian" college bc I couldn't deal with it.

Coming out of Williams with good grade and a good LSAT, it makes it a lot easier to get into the law school you want (and Williams, Amherst, Bowdoin, Middlebury) don't seem to have the huge "BLM" issue the ivies now have.

In the enxt few years, you're going to see places like Williams and Bowdoin become harder to get into than Yale and Princeton bc ppl don't want to send their kids into that shit.

Mac is garbage though. Not kidding and Mac will never hold up to "The Ultimate Gaming PC" that costs 3k because those are two completely different types of systems.

Also, an OS doesn't necessarily mean it should be constructed for the hardware. The Operating System that's appropriate (in a security sense) is one holds up to the standards you're looking for. If you need MAC then you can't expect a Windows system to hold up since it doesn't allow such a thing. Don't forget about Hypervisors/Virtual Machines as well since that's important to take into account.

Don't mention/recommend Ubuntu ever again by the way. It's garbage tier too.

Is this the new /dpt/?
Where's the trap op?

You need to type less

I have a bachelor's in software engineering.

How is Ubuntu garbage? I have been testing it for about a week as my main desktop. the only problems i have had was a few audio and video glitches but i have fixed them. everyone says it is bad but they never explain why.

Yes, "damage control" on a fucking anonymous site.
Have noticed since I've come back here, the people who used the "laughing memes" most tend to be the biggest retards who know the least, but try to jump on the bandwagon with a jpg of someone "laughing" suggesting they know more.

But they never add anything of substance to conversation. I use a Mac, as I said in original post. I suggested Limux, which is also sound advice.

Please, tell us what you have to add to discussion rather than a "laughing" jpeg suggesting you know better.

Well, fell free. And you won't, bc in reality you don't know shit. Correct?

>Ubuntu or Mac
Fucking shill. The only thing close to secure is OpenBSD and yes it's hard to use but nothing else we can do. The amount of exploits available for the other systems is simply too much.

Also for the average user here, at least verify you're not using a complete botnet tier browser setup:
diafygi.github.io/webrtc-ips/

If anything shows here proceed through this guide.
gist.github.com/atcuno/3425484ac5cce5298932

>Look at me, I'm so smart.
>You're stupid because you're not like me.

This keeps getting better.

>collect user search data and IP addresses and discloses to third parties
>adware and spyware violates user privacy
>violating free system distribution guidelines
>prohibits commercial redistribution of exact copies
>not binary compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS

It's basically the Microsoft of the Linux world.

Actually proceed through this guide even if nothing shows up.

>Mac is garbage though
If Mac were garbage, every serious person who could afford one and doesn't want to game wouldn't have one.

The ultimate "safe option" used to be consider "tor for tails," but have heard numerous rumors that Tor has been cracked and can track you by the nodes.

Ubuntu may well be shit, have not fucked with a PC in 4-5 years, but that was standard then. If you are serious about security and general ease of use and don't give a fuck about games, Macs are the way to go.

And everyone will call be a cuck, etc.... but have been using macs since I first set up an old apple 2c in my garage before could afford a real computer.

The "iphone sales," thank fuck, re finally going down so less people will be buying them.

>Don't mention/recommend Ubuntu ever again by the way. It's garbage tier too

Serious question: Why and what OS do you recommend instead?

>You need to type less
Yuo need to check your mother's grave-- I dug her up last night, fucked her rotting corpse with her foot long nails and hair grown down her back, and sat her in your living room in a house dress with a cup of tea.

Know the beauty of threads on here? If you don't want to read them, there's no one holding a gun to your head to make you. Don't read it. Worry about your third world shithole and the Falklands, leave the computer stuff to the White men.

Get it?

>I use a Mac

Fuck off you terrible person, go circlejerk on reddit.

I still don't get this. I have had sex with many girls I've met anonymously. I think it would be harder with social media because what do you do when one girl on your friends list finds out you're fucking another girl from your friends list? It's much easier to just tell a girl that you don't like social media, get her contact info instead, and contact her through a throwaway account. Consolidating your identities makes it harder to fuck multiple girls.

>Poorfag detected

Oh i didn't know about that. what would you recommend? i am use to linux systems so the initial setup wouldn't be a problem for me.

>I have had sex with many girls I've met anonymously
how about 19yo girls in the past decade?

How long would it take to get reasonably good at this stuff? I've always wanted to learn more and improve my general opsec but I waste too much time doing other shit when I'm not studying or working

>Fucking shill
This is more overused than "cuck" here. Who, exactly, am I shilling for? Please, tell us.

Yes, I'm getting a check from Tim Cook's fag ass to give false opinions. you found me out.

Jesus, when this this entire place become full of poser retards? I'm guessing this thread is about 80% non-White.

Think I've had enough mud for one day. Go back to playing your games, goyim. They are good for you. Forget all I said, I'm a shill.

slackware

>The ultimate "safe option" used to be consider "tor for tails," but have heard numerous rumors that Tor has been cracked and can track you by the nodes.

No one has ever been busted by the feds or any other law enforcement agency for problems with Tor, it has always been Opsec fails every time.

The closest was a bug in the Firefox browser bundle which was a zero day the FBI exploited. The safest way to use Tor is to bridge a VM through it so even if zero days in browsers and other software exist breaking out of the software sandbox isn't enough to dial home with your real IP you'd also need to break out of the VM sandbox and then dial home. Extraordinarily unlikely.

I recently completed a CCNA course about two years ago. So yes, computer literate, more towards hardware installation and configuration than programming or coding however.

Unfortunately no, it's harder to meet young girls the older you get ;_;

>80% non-White
duh, you want the smart people who know about computers
goblins can barely do math

obviously

To be fair we haved doxxed retarded cunts, because they have uploaded pics with their phone.
But yes you are right.

People who use Macs usually do so for scientific/coding purposes and there isn't much other reason. That's why Macs are so popular with students taking classes regarding computers or in a scientific field. The system specs itself aren't usually on par for the price.

Tails is fine if you actually trust Tor. Whonix seems a much safer option but requires a little more tech savvy.

It depends on what you're looking for out of your OS. I personally use Arch Linux because I'm used to it.

>run by a corporation (Canonical)
Every eligible distribution has a legal foundation.

>collect user search data and IP addresses and discloses to third parties
It's a figment of your imagination.

>adware and spyware violates user privacy
Indeed. But how is the statement related to Ubuntu?

>violating free system distribution guidelines
Because people want to listen mp3 and to watch h264.

>prohibits commercial redistribution of exact copies
It's not a drawback.

>not binary compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS
Compatible for a corresponding architecture.

Put the games down for a second is nice advice, installing gentoo on a raspberry is just overcompensating hipster tier

Yes we are overrun by posers.

>Milo is great
>Israel is great
>Islam will save the west from degeneracy

The new Sup Forums

Yes, because if you want stormfront you can go to stormfront. This isn't your safe space. Your ideas aren't even all that common to begin with.

that is what i initially thought, i haven't seen any proof that they use adware and spyware or collect search data and IPs.

it is true that your browser will probably collect search data and the IP of their users but i doubt that Ubuntu does it themselves.

I haven't seen any examples of adware or spyware nor have i seen anything questionable about the processes' that are running.

I have heard a lot of people saying not to use Ubuntu but there hasn't been any solid evidence that would dissuade me.

Gentoo is decent security if you install hardened and use good VPN, protect agains DNS leaks etc. Just don't use selinux.

Not everyone here is fighting some imaginary war against "degenerates". On the internet.

The real war is outside In the REAL world you fucking girlsdick.

I don't have any social media accounts so little reason to care.

>First of all, forget windows.
Ok. But I am an engineer and all the programms I use and need are only available on windows.
I do use debian as well, but for work I need windows. I used debian when the hype started, but I didn't like it and hated the community so I went back to debian and stayed on debian ever since.

When using windows, I believe that simply using no-script and 10 minute emails, gets rid of 99% of your problems.
VPN is a good idea, but if you use no-script all the datamining is shut down as well. Sure, in theory it is still possible to see where you have been based on your ip, but the datamining is done by amazon and google and with no-script they won't know shit about you.

If I really want to go on a shady site I fire up a vm with tor, but I believe that is overkill most of the time.
Just my opinion.

Mind going into a little detail?
I'm using the asm stack swapping code from boost context to realize a fiber/coroutine-like scripting engine on the project I'm currently working on, and I'm interested in other techniques.

Using windows is fine, just firewall off your connection and only white list applications you're happy to connect to the net. Data collection on certain things doesn't mean dick unless they can transmit it back to MS which they cannot through a firewall.

I just installed Tinywall which is a lite wrapper for windows firewalls and explicitly denies all connections until you make an exception.

Super easy to confirm that works because you just dump that box behind a transparent proxy on the LAN which runs wireshark and you can see there's no traffic.

It's about a million times easier to control a network and the traffic throughput than it is to understand everything about an OS and what it collects/transmits, so for the average user this is simply the best method without requiring much knowledge/effort.

I use comodo as a firewall. Maybe I look into tinywall sometime. But I would really recommend everyone to get No-Script for their browers as it will not allow anything but HTML for a website unless you allow it.
It is a bit tedious to set up, since you need to allow all the websites you trust, but from there on out it is great.
Try it out user, and thanks for the tip with tinywall.

What if one of those applications has a vulnerability?

This isn't really a proper argument though.
>the application you are using might have a vulnerability
This applies to everything then.

>Every eligible distribution has a legal foundation.
Canonical sucks dicks though my Russian friend.

>It's a figment of your imagination.
gnu.org/philosophy/ubuntu-spyware.html

>Indeed. But how is the statement related to Ubuntu? Related to the above.

>Because people want to listen mp3 and to watch h264.
Can't necessarily argue with that but it still isn't appreciated by open source community in general.

>It's not a drawback.
How so?

>Compatible for a corresponding architecture.
Touche.

I apologize for the shit response. It's all online and in their User Agreements and such but I don't feel like looking for it.

funny thing is i was an IT person for a small company, my day consisted of showing up around 3pm, taking a nap in the locked server room, doing absolutely nothing and pretending to have things to do so people would leave me alone.
I didnt last long but i managed to take a few grand away in pay

very pungent nigger

self learned developer
took edu later, computer eng specialization automation, robotics and ai.
2y+ on that with the same but counted as CS, as we only got one school that can grant civil engineering degrees in the field atm(or at that moment)

so.. doin this since the 90ies, got headhunted and actually quit the school before college.
I dunno 10ish years xp as a hired dev, eng etc

now fed up of jews taking my shekels so starting my own shit with some other monkeys

>What if one of those applications has a vulnerability?

Then that's not an OS issue, that's an application issue, which could exist on any OS.

There's no evidence that any OS is leveraging exploits or weaknesses in applications to leaked OS-logged data back to their servers.

Use address sanitizers and other useful protection features of compilers. On compiled distros like gentoo you can do it. Some guys have been working on it or probably got it to work already:
archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/message/553b40562813d752f8255554e184d494

Most well known and good brands of firewall are perfectly fine to use as well but most of them you have to pay for and they're not very light, where as windows firewall is built into the windows networking stack and is perfectly suitable it's just a pain in the arse to configure.

Tinywall is extremely lite in that it doesn't really use any resources, it's just another GUI for windows firewall with a handy interface to see blocked traffic and allow you to unblock certain applications.

I use no script for blocking scripts, I also use adblock to remove adverts and privacy badger which monitors 3rd party cookie use and basically stops all cross website tracking, really nice tool made by the EFF.

What are you doing with that flag m8

Also, I'm a typical Sup Forums neckbeard Linux C bash fag

I tried, rarebro. I made a VM with Kali Linux 64 bit but the fact that everything runs through the terminal makes it very difficult. Even to open an app you have to run the .run file through the terminal

Not to mention that it doesn't even have a task bar, so when you minimize Windows they are deleted, at least on Kali Linux.

That being said I am very well versed and savvy when it comes to Windows 7/8 and petty hacking, tho that doesn't come close to what's doable with Kali.

I will however be taking computer classes this semester. Would you recommend computer science or computer engineering?
