Old pcfag here Just finished witcher 3 + DLC, great game, only complaint is even on death march it wasn't very hard.
it's fucking 2017 and I've never played a dark souls game
I want the full fucking dark souls experience. I've got a controller and all the nessecary PC patches. Don't plan on using any sort of walkthrough or guide.
Any advise or usefully tips before I jump in? I mean besides git gud
Also, is DaS 3/dlc worth buying while on sale? I already own 1 and 2(w/o dlc)

1. Get demons souls 2. Play without a shield 3. DS3 DLC is super worth it.

>own 2 without dlc
nigger you're missing out. 2 had the best dlcs.
the general consensus is this 1 has the best world building 2 has the best pvp experience 3 is just a more polished 1 with a shittier world and less secrets

did you not buy scholar of the first sin edition? if not then don't bother. base dark souls 2 is shit and duns on dx 9 instead of 11 so the pvp base is also split with only like 400 ppl online max

This should be in vg, right? Anyways.... In all Souls games there's multiple endings and multiple endings are often necessary to reaching multiple achievements. So it's very important to plan ahead what 1.) Your build 2.) What run through you want to do (evil, good maybe both if you plan it well enough) and what items you want to acquire per NG (newgame)
Above all, have fun! Dark Soul communities aren't as toxic as most. Jolly co-operation and fight clubs thrive on all three games on PC and most consoles. So you'll still get the full experience.
Ryan White
>Has the most one-dimensional characters with meaningless shallow sob story backgrounds and no subtlety >Gameplay is garbage with samey weapons and sluggish movement with huge deadzones >PVP is dead and not the main attraction of these games. >Where is that polish? It's not in the textures, or the models, or the animations, or the enemy variety, or the controls.
DS2 apologists stop

not bad i'm dumb as fuck, i didn't know there were 2 versions 32/64 bit bullshit... that's really gay
Jace Moore
Controller for PC? go back to the roots and bind just the keyboard keys.
or better yet use a guitar hero controller, git gud.
Brandon Johnson
True shit Dark Souls 1 is easily the best of the series. Play that. I have rerun the game at least 20 times. One of the best games of all time in my opinion.
Robert Mitchell
stop sperging out. dark souls 2 did things right with the gameplay
>stamina management actually matters since you can't roll 999 times without stopping like in ds3 >parry actually has a rev up so you can't spam it >power stance allows you to attack with both weapons on hand >off hand weapon has all movesets unlike in ds 1 and 3 >no 8000 seconds of i frames while rolling so it's actually based on skill and timing. make sure your agility is around 100 for optimal rolls
if you buy the humble bundle this month for 12$ you get scholar of the first sin and like 5 other games. But yeah, the older version is not polished and has bad enemy and item placement

You're pretty correct on most of those....Though you gotta admit Sir Alonne's boss room had >Dat Polish

>This should be in vg probably.. felt like dumping porn for some reason

I'd say that stuff is not what you should be thinking about at all on your first run through the game.
Knowing str/dex/int/fai isn't a terrible suggestion, but good or evil run? You make one choice at the end of the game. Are you actually telling him to spoil Kaathe before his first run?
Nicholas Peterson
When I first played dark souls, I didnt have a controller. I mapped the numbers on the keypad as camera movement, attacks, parry, and block. Used wasd to move. Actually pretty fun that way
