>Hey guys, the Chargers are the 2nd-most popular team in San Diego. How can we fix this?
>How about we become the 6th-most popular team in Los Angeles?
>Genius!

>>We. Don’t. Want. You.

And they proved that by voting down the stadium initiative. Considering that they should be happy they're leaving but they're obviously booty blasted that they are. Something doesn't add up.

>Turn off Adblocker
Shill somewhere else faggot.

They're mad the team is leaving, but if keeping them required forking over hundreds of millions in public funds to a family of billionaire assholes, then fuck em

Plaschke is talking about Angelenos, not San Diegans

>taxpayer money should pay for football stadiums

Quite possibly the biggest meme of the last 50 years.

Plaschke, as usual, doesn't know what the hell he's talking about

The Chargers could sell zero tickets to any of their home games and Spanos won't give a shit. The move to the Los Angeles market increases the value of the team when he inevitably decides to sell it; that is literally the only thing he cares about

>a team selling zero tickets is valuable when moving FROM LA

No. You dont know what YOURE talking about

I don't get how franchises work in US sports. So the Chargers' owners pretend there will be a completely new fanbase just because they moved to town? Who will buy season tickets? Who will buy merchandise?

The new owners aren't going to move the team, dingus. Not unless something stupid happens like when that broad got the Rams when her husband died and decided to bring them to her hometown

I wish they had stayed but I also hate Spanos.

holy shit this, what the fuck is going on there

>detroit is spending over a billion fucking dollars on a new stadium with some of it coming from taxes
>meanwhile the city is returning to the wilderness

The justification is that stadiums bring white people with money into the cities and they put money into surrounding businesses

It works when a team moves to a city without a team of its own. LA already has a team, and most people there still support the Raiders, who play in Oakland.

>tl;dr the owner moved out of San Diego because the government wouldn't build him a new stadium

It won't though, just like hosting the Olympics and the World Cup don't improve the economy.

Detroit's government is highly corrupt and incompetent, though. That's why the city is such a shithole.

He thinks, for some reason, that not only will there be a flourishing new fanbase in LA, but that a significant portion of the SD fanbase is going to travel 2-3 hours North -- when they couldn't even fill the Q IN SAN DIEGO.

As if they're going to go through that effort especially after Spanos effectively spit on them.

The idea is that if they're good, they'll attract a bunch of LA bandwagoners and the value of the team will skyrocket.

It won't work though. It'll end the same way as the Nets moving to Brooklyn but even worse.

I think when nearly half of the adult population is functionally illiterate, they have their priorities wrong

They need to pump money into education (none of that affirmative action shit, actual education and training) and reduces taxes to entice businesses into the city

You've got to do both or it won't work. Educated people will flee detroit if there's no-one hiring, and nobody will hire an uneducated populace

>It won't though, just like hosting the Olympics and the World Cup don't improve the economy

Yup, that's why first world countries don't want the Olympics or WC anymore and they have to host them in places like Qatar.

The US is fucking crazy though, they literally spend $60 million dollars of tax money on a HIGH SCHOOL football stadium.

I don't understand how he can justify paying 650 million to move from a business perspective. I realize that LA is a much larger city than San Diego, but he has to realize how little people will actually care about them...they're going to be the 5th most popular football team there (Rams, Raiders, UCLA, USC)...

>Detroit's government is highly corrupt and incompetent, though. That's why the city is such a shithole.

That's what happens when you vote straight blue for several decades. Chicago and Baltimore also have similarly corrupt government officials but all the retarded dindus still think the Democrats will take care of them.

I'm not saying it's a good idea but that's the justification. I agree education and policing is what American ghettos need, but niggers are brainwashed into voting democrat, so I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

As opposed to those pillars of morality, Republican-controlled state governments?

There's corruption across both parties at all levels of government. It's just easier to hide at lower levels since local papers don't exist anymore

Ain't no Republican politician supporting pumping money into education, honey

Diminishing returns at this point. The US spends more money per student then any other western nation. Test scores continue to decline however. Throwing money at education doesn't help.

Why are you talking like a nigger? Point is democrats have no money to pay into education because they keep taxing businesses and let crime flourish.

And we have no idea whether or not a republican would fund education because nigs refuse to vote anything other than straight blue.

That's why southern states have the best education right?

Education is a culture thing. Money helps, but communities that value it eventually have a more educated population. It's something that policy can only indirectly affect unless it's an extreme policy

Name one area that votes straight Republican and is filled with any of the same amount of corruption and economic strife as the cities that vote exclusively Democrat.

NYC used to have the same problem, but because it isn't really segregated on the same level as the big rust belt cities, the crime actually spilled in to their neighborhoods, and they quickly voted in Rudy Giuliani to clean shit up.

In Chicago, the affluent northsiders aren't effected by the rising crime, and the South side is full of blacks that refuse to ever vote Republican, so the city just keeps electing corrupt Marxist democrats that continue the cities decline.

Utah has some of the best public schools in the country. The problem with inner city schools has nothing to do with funding or teachers or schools. Brown people just don't care about education.

The state governments in Alabama and Mississippi

>implying the problem there isn't just all the niggers

Basically every southern state's local government is like that. The difference is that big city corruption affects lots of people and money so it makes national news. Southern corruption is small because they are poor so it didn't make big waves.

And it's not only the typical red or blue areas like this. Government in moderate areas are the same

Elaborate.
