most laptops are designed so that the light turns on when the webcam activates because they're on a closed circuit. yeah if the bulb dies then the cam will come on but otherwise its literally impossible for most models that use a light to display webcam active

some machines have the light and camera on different circuits making it quite easy to just turn of the light or if you want make it do morse code lol,
btw they can spy on your mic aswell so think about covering that up too if you speak or do something that has to do with audio
