It's a manga that's been running for 20+ years now, and it's pretty incredible. One of the things that's most interesting about it, is that the author has basically reinvented himself in his style several times throughout the series, while still keeping it true to its roots. During the first 10 volumes (referred to collectively as the "Golden Age" arc), it's basically gritty 80s style manga of purely dark medieval warfare, becoming borderlined historical fiction. but in volumes 11-12+ literally hell opens up and pours itself onto earth evil dead style but in a completely serious manner. Over the next ~5 volumes you have every bit of bad in his world corrupted and risen to full blown demonic rape-fests; corrupt priests burning everyone at the stake, packs of roving goblins kidnapping women, raping and impregnating them to make more monsters, an evil god-emporer who tries to take over the world etc. It then turns into a traditional swords/sorcery fantasy where Guts assembles a team of rag-tag heroes to destroy the five God Hands of hell, one of whom was his best friend and rival during the Golden Age.

Hey guys! What's up?

...

Hey Zer0!

Not too much, finished watching Toradora last night, was good but pretty underwhelming, I was expecting "the greatest love story ever told" but I don't think it delivered that.
Also watched some Vivid Strike OVAs which were nice.
Also also, first ep of Symphogear AXZ came out which was hype, delivered hard.

You?

Not a lot. Probably going to start Dracu-Riot soon since the thing I knew was going to happen happened. Also vidya and qt's.

>finished watching Toradora last night, was good but pretty underwhelming, I was expecting "the greatest love story ever told" but I don't think it delivered that.
Yeah, Toradora seemed like something that would disappoint me if I watched it because of all the hype, so I didn't bother.

>Also also, first ep of Symphogear AXZ came out which was hype, delivered hard.
I should watch the Symphogear series - looks like silly fun.

I normally don't even like manga but this is cool as shit.

Plus makes me think of Dsouls and I'm fucking obsessed with the series

"Dracu-riot! is an adult visual novel"
"adult"
Ohohoho what do we have here.

Toradora had some really good scenes, the beginning was great, and parts right before the end were also great.
Could've cut out a few arcs and made things more concise. The character development was pretty gradual which was really nice, but favored one character over the other, and felt like he just kind of changed without showing us how.
I gave it a 7/10, it was definitely worth checking out, but I guess I'd say it's a little overhyped.
If I went in with lower expectations, probably would've been better.

You should if it looks fun, Symphogear is one of my favorite recent franchises. Silly fun is a good way of describing it, but if you rearrange the letters in "Symphogear" it spells "Orgasm hype" which is much more appropriate in all honestly.
It's about hot-blooded girls who fight monsters by singing songs and using the power of ancient historical relics.
Premise is obviously outlandish, but they do take it seriously and I don't feel it's that silly or lolsorandum.
I can go into much more detail...

That's what I like to hear, it's a pretty good manga, worth checking out if you're liking it.
A handful of Berserk homages/references can be found in DS, there's an image out there somewhere that shows some of them, I'll try and find it.

That is insane.

If you find it post please and thank you.

Thank you for posting user I'm grateful

I'm sure there's more, out there, but here's a few.

That's what I'm here for.

yeah, many VN's have lewd content, what about it?
Sucks that I called the thing that happened a year ago, tho. Whatever.

>It's about hot-blooded girls who fight monsters by singing songs and using the power of ancient historical relics.
>Premise is obviously outlandish, but they do take it seriously and I don't feel it's that silly or lolsorandum.
Yeah, that seems silly enough to be fun. Tell me more.

>I gave it a 7/10, it was definitely worth checking out, but I guess I'd say it's a little overhyped.
the LN is probably a lot better. Also I think a lot of hype around it has to do with it being the good "J.C. Staff produced Rie Kugimiya flat tsundere lead harem/romance" show (Shana is kind of mediocre, Zero no Tsukaima is just a worse Shana, and we don't talk about Hidan no Aria)

Dark Souls is inspired heavily by Berserk.

Thank you very much

I had no idea there was such a connection

I was just joking, it was the first thing I read when googling it.

I think the reason I'm hesitant to call it silly is because I can really get into it, like when the characters are trying to safely land a plane that had gone out of control and they punch/slice a mountain (K2) so the plane goes through the space instead of hitting it, and then they claim that K2 is now the third tallest mountain. And then later when MC suplexes said plane. I think they pull it off really well so I'm thinking "holy shit this is amazing" instead of "how silly, but it's kinda fun."
So if you can suspend disbelief a little bit, I think you'll have a great time of it.
I've always felt that the show hyped things up a lot and then delivered pretty well on them.
Lemme link you some good youtube scenes, see what you think.

What's wrong with Hidan no Aria? I thought it had suffering in it, but I may be thinking of a different show.
Makes sense on the LN part, though.
It certainly wasn't bad by any stretch, I really enjoyed it, just felt like they could've done a lot more with it, and better.

End of Chapter 129 and end of dump for tonight

Sure thing!

So kind of like Majikoi in a way, where some silly shit happens but the whole thing is likeable so it's not really a huge deal.

That sounds about right.
It's unlike shows like Cross Ange that are silly but they don't take it seriously so it's kind of a fun trainwreck.
Symphogear take itself seriously, and has some crazy/manly/hot-blooded things happen that err on the side of being "badass."

Are Commie the only people subbing this show?

Alright serious question.

How do you anons really think the series will end at this point?

How will they arrive there ?

Who survives?

Go Go Go!

I haven't confirmed, but I'm assuming CR will also do it as usual.
No other groups have put anything on Fansubdb about it, but it' not the most used site, so there may be a random group I haven't seen doing it but I doubt it.

Commie is pretty well-known for doing all the Symphogear seasons. I think they style the songs really nicely, which is an important part of Symphogear for all the inserts.
They do put in some "joke" things and localizations. I'm not really anal on things like that, but I do take note of them, and I guess it detracts a little from the experience since now you're thinking about how it was it was a joke and whatnot, but eh.
HS or Commie are probably equally fine, depends on how much it bugs you.
If need be, just take Commie's TS/song styling and put it on HS.
5 minute job.

I think they'll fix Casca, but she'll have a hard time coping with how life now is. I can see her wanting to go back to Griffith, or wanting to be free from everything.
I think that's more likely than her being Guts's comrade like the old day.
I think it's likely that Griffith will try to attack Elfhelm, as well.

Your thoughts?

Infeel like something absolutely horrible is going to happen to falconia, all those monsters fighting eachother are bad juju, and i think that somehow guts is probably going to kill all the apostles one by one to get to griffith and do some weird magic ritual with the kid so that guts can actually touch griffith since the kid is both guts and griffiths in a way.

im just not sure if its gonna be a spike/vicious thing or what, but i'm pretty sure griffiths going to die the question is how much of guts will be left due to the nature of the berserker armor, shierke and the rest of the magicians at elfheim can only do so much but that island is key to buffing guts enought to be able to even begin to think about going after the apostles and griffith

looking forward to seeing grunbeld get done as well as moonlight night locus
I like irvine though
rakshas is just weird lol

It's gonna be hard for Miura to have Guts be able to reasonable defeat Griffith without it being a major asspull.
If Guts can kill enough apostles, and keep the Berserk armor in control, I could see it happening, but I think we'd need at least a decade worth of chapters for him to gradually get stronger like that.
Griffith is on a whole other level.

Guts sacrificing his party could be viable.
Becoming evil to destroy an evil greater than myself, à la Code Geass.

mite b cool

I think the Apostles in Griffith's Neo-BotH are well designed.
I like them all a lot, especially Grunbeld.

Rakshas is fanboy-tier but really dangerous, I feel.
His bit with Rickert was fun.

You know there is something about that sneaky fuck and what he said to griffith about having his head or whatever, like it was actually possible, foreshadowing maybe?

i did feel bad about his masks a little bit, the dude seemed genuinely upset about the whole thing.

as for the Neo-BotH

Favorite Apostle ?

Mine is Irvine

wait does guts get stronger when he kills an apostle? or does it boost the armor or something i forget the exact specifics of his armor

just got done withe movie one by the way...
what do you think about the animation?

People still like this shitty series?

...

I always figured Rakshas was all talk, but Miura might have a plan for him. Kinda like Jesus has one for you.

I forgot that part, kinda funny at the same time, too.

I think Grunbeld, for some reason. I usually don't like the archetype of big stocky warriors, but the "standing alone and holding down a position for a long time" trope get me going.
Like Musashibō Benkei. That's good stuff right there.
Irvine is pretty cool, archers are fun.
Careful though, that's furry territory with his transformation.

The Dragonslayer gets closer to the astral realm/supernatural the more he uses it on them.
So it has a greater effect on them, as well.

I didn't like the movie/new anime animation.
It's not good, I hope it gets better, and I think it has a little, but it's just not good in my opinion.
The rest of it I think is pretty good, though.
I've gotten over the animation, but I still lament it.

eh...grunbeld is pretty hard, and i forgot about that bit myself, the holding your own against a bunch of enemies

Lol yeah ik what you mean about the furry but i really liked this particular panel

and the Dragonslayer is the sword right?

That scene is wholesome.
I love campfires.
Pic related

Yep

:)

also, lets discuss the void skullknight connection,
skull knight gotta be gaiseric, but is void the holy man or is void gaiserics wife?

were nosferatu zodd and skull knight friends at some point in time ?

oh oh, also what do you reckon the rest of the God Hands backstories are,

ssomebody was explaining in a video one time about how voids outfit looked reminiscent of the princess's dress or anoble lady from farneze's party or whatever they had when the tigers busted through and crashed the party

I think Skull Knight was confirmed to be Gaiseric.
Are we sure Void wasn't a God Hand at the time?
I know Gaiseric went against the God Hand, and I'd assume that's how he knew Void.
Don't remember if that was explicitly stated or not, though.

Pretty sure Zodd and SK knew each other in the past, they call each other "old friend."
Friend may not be the most accurate term, but I think it's concluded that they've known each other for a while.

I think Slan was a prostitute or something.
As for the rest, we don't really see much of Ubik or Conrad, I haven't thought too much on their possible backstories.

i just figure the cenobites all had backstories, and miura was influenced by the hellraiser series a bit

im just really interested in seeing a voids backstory arc, maybe one with the apostles too
that would make for some good manga/anime

so it's safe to assume skull took out one of the godhands ?

or maybe he was one?

Ah right, I do remember the relation to Hellraiser, didn't know it was confirmed.

I'd like backstories on them, that'd be cool Shame it's not that feasible.

I don't think SK ever did, was there any time he said he did?
I know he'd been fighting them, but don't know how successful he was.

SK never was a God Hand.

well user...
it's been real

see ya in thext thread

Take care, user.
