because it's like a vinyl record player for massive CD's with picture
to be quirky
Best sound quality on any home release
how's the video resolutions?
Better than VHS, worse than DVD. It's somewhere in the middle.
there are certain versions of movies only released on laser disc
Such as?
it's a good conversation starter...?
>because it's like a vinyl record player
no that would be RCA Video Disc players
youtube.com
>So I own a laserdisc player
>You what?
>...nevermind
Oh yeah, great conversations.
i think the theatrical version of star wars is one
there must be a list somewhere
He means on Sup Forums.
wow. that is actually pretty fascinating stuff
Nobody on Sup Forums owns a laserdisc. You're thinking of /m/.
The sound quality is unbeatable due to being analogue not digital sound.
The gatefold (?) sleeves also make them valuble for collectors.
If you wish to watch the original Star Wars in the best possible quality, this is the way to do it.
Don't take my word for it though here's a helpful and comfy video breaking it down for you...

Yeah too bad that given it uses a record & needle type technology that most RCA video discs are in pretty rough shape by now.
Yeah but you can find that as a torrent as well
I've heard this it's sound is analogue not digital meme. Unlike the RCA video Disc mentioned here which uses record technology to give analogue signal, how does a laserdisc do that when as far as I can tell it is literally just a giant VCD?
Hipster cred
My parents still have the 200 or so laser discs I grew up watching, and if I bought a player I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I took them off of their hands.
>this dumb cunt wasted over 300+ pounds for a space waster that has shitter quality than a bluray.
FUCKING KEK
>pounds
It's a trade off, lower resolution and cropped image but hey no Hayden Christensen in RotJ or Jar Jar for that matter at the end being heard shouting "WE'SA FREE!"
Laserdiscs came with cool covers and artwork much like vinyl. However, I can't see why you'd buy the player and get discs over a DVD or blue ray. It sucked flipping them mid movie.
Watching non-digitally restored (re: tampered) prints of films where the actual negatives they were struck from have since become faded.
>Technicolor Dye Transfer prints notwithstanding
Why don't you post some of those cool covers faggot?
girl says
>hey faggot, show me your laserdisc collection
what do?
