Brits had a very indirect system of control in the colonies - most of the regional learders retained their power. French/Spanish/etc direct control and forcing them to forget their roots and became europeans caused strong antisympathy to the colonial power.

Chile has fewer Europeans than Argentina and Uruguay and is more developed. Chile is a very mixed country
Argentina and Uruguay were colonized by a European majority and not on the same level as England.
Brazil has also received many Europeans, such as the United States, Canada, Australia. But with more black population, which ended up generating greater miscegenation. Even so, it has a large amount of whites, considering 20% (less than half of the official data) would give a large absolute number.

I don't blame "lack of whites" as much as I blame the massive corruption which the Spanish started in the first place, but without strong central spainish military control to keep everything in line, enforce castes, and kill natives it all fell apart
Brazil is honestly better than most of South America in dealing with its corruption and I'd argue it's legal/government system is much more stable. It just needs fewer commies
