Stranger Things

Thought I'd reattempt this thread at a different time since it plummeted into the archive yesterday. Can we discuss the season two teaser? I know there's Generals but they're just pic dumps of the child actors or wondering when Froggo will kill himself from Britbong's rejection.

Spoilers ahead...

>Madmax
I think the Mad Max connection is a red herring. It could be a Hopper episode, since he's basically Max Rockatansky: a law person whose kid dies and leaves his life behind, but I realized the other day that there has to be more to the intentional lack of spacing. I think it's an anagram of "Madam X," or "Madam Ten." The one before Eleven. Perhaps El sends a message to the boys to find her for help, but the letters are transcribed incorrectly. Or maybe the boys name her, because she's "like a female Professor X."

>The Boy Who Came Back to Life
Clearly Will, possibly dealing with the repercussions of the town being lied to about his death, or him dealing with whatever the Upside Down has done to him. Or, if we're still following Hopper, perhaps he sees Will "coming back to life" as reason to believe his daughter may still be around in a parallel universe, and he's hoping El can make it happen.

>The Pumpkin Patch
Obvious Halloween episode, the season takes place in the fall after all. Possibly the introduction of a new monster.

>The Palace
The least certain about this one, could be a D&D reference: There's a place called the Palace of Judgement, which is like a city-sized purgatory for the dead; otherwise, the Demogorgon supposedly lives in a "palace" of two towers linked by a bridge at the top.

>The Storm
We know the Upside Down is heavily tied to electricity so I'm guessing some serious shit will go down in Hawkins during a thunderstorm, considering the fabric between dimensions is already thin. The Duffers have 30 pages on how the Upside Down works, so this may be our information dump episode.

Continued...

>The Pollywog
A pollywog is a sailor who hasn't crossed the equator. Someone may get trapped in the Upside Down who hasn't already. A polliwog, on the other hand, is a tadpole. Does Froggo finally evolve into Froggowhirl?

>The Secret Cabin
Clearly where El is hiding. We know structures aren't identical between worlds, so there may be a cabin in the Upside Down that no longer has a real world counterpart. That box Hopper puts food into looks awfully like a firewood box: the cabin may be right there.

>The Brain
Possibly referring to El's mind and what she's fully capable of. Or her specific connection to the Demogorgon, if any.

>The Lost Brother
The only brothers I can think of are Will, Jonathan and Mike. I think it may be Mike, the "pollywog" who may have rushed into the Upside Down to save El. Either that or El had a twin, but her mother would've known about him considering she was around long enough to see El's abilities before Brenner kicked her out.

And you?

I can't wait for wil wheaton to make his appearance!

why are people still paying attention to this untalented retard

his retardation makes people feel better about themselves

Bravo OP. I predict Mad Max is a new character.

how many threads of this show do we need

Just this one, the one that's actually about the show and not Froggo's future or Millie's footgame

we need this one and some others

>city-sized purgatory for the dead
if it is purgatory for Demogorgon victims we could see Barb again!

Barb is the key to all this

ok op, interesting observations. Here are my 2 bits to add, not episode specific.

1. I saw on some fan instagram page (not my own) that 4 new characters, ( i think kids) are going to be introduced. This info was quoted form something official but I myself haven't seen it yet. This could put a lot of new theories to birth and a lot to rest, so speculation I think is all we have right now.

2. Something I want to know is a bit more overall. So in the world of ST, there exists this alternate dimension and monsters live in it that are either native or of human's creation. And then there also exists this game called dnd that correctly explains all of this. So how did the creators of dnd, in the world of ST, come by such accurate information? My theory is that at the end of whatever season is the last, we'll see something with a lot of mental power go back in time or send something back in time and create the game of dnd to help test people or help prepare them to fight the monsters that exist. Sort of like how video games were used in that old 80s movie 'The Last Starfighter' to test for great fighter pilots. Which ties in nicely with the duffers using 80s themes.

>announced yesterday
>already a teaser
What the fuck is this?

it's literally the title screen with sub titles of the episode names

I really hope Eleven doesn't come back until way late in the season. If at all.

Brab will be brought back as fan service. It will be suck, but she will.

we must have Barb

Which will probably change.

>lexijaydeOk. So yesterday I post that my favorite show on the air is "Stranger Things".. today I'm auditioning for it... talk about "Strange Things"I'm So Excited!!!!

I wonder what role she's auditioning for. Maybe she'll be the next 11 but a different number

>next 11

Pretty sure the program isn't going further after Joker got et.

That's stupid, who would be Mike's love interest in that case?

>So how did the creators of dnd, in the world of ST, come by such accurate information?
But the ST universe is nothing like D&D. The Demogorgon in the show was only named that because El used its playing piece to symbolize the monster that's after Will. Their appearances and characteristics are almost nothing alike.

The teaser WAS the announcement. It makes me very hopeful that the Duffers were sitting on episode titles for the renewal, which means they've actually planned ahead with the story.

Anyone else kind of wish they wouldn't? Can't we just let a good thing be a good thing?

I was hoping they'd do an American Horror Story style thing, but instead of re-purposing actors it'd be entirely new characters with the old ones making cameos. As long as it's still comfy as fuck I don't really mind how long it goes on for.

>people exist who care more about barb than 11 or mike or dustin

hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/stranger-things-season-2-meet-three-new-characters-925040

>Max is a tough and confident 13-year-old female whose appearance, behavior and pursuits are more typical of boys than of girls in the era. She has a complicated history and a difficult relationship with her stepbrother, Billy, that's made her protective of her past and generally suspicious of those around her. She's also good on a skateboard, which she uses to get around pretty much everywhere.

>Billy is a super muscular, overconfident 17-year-old. He's so captivating and edgy that there are rumors flying around that he killed someone at a school he attended in the past. Billy steals peoples' girlfriends, is a drinking-game pro and drives a black Camaro. But his violent and unpredictable nature shows itself to those closest to him, especially to ones who are younger than he is.

>Roman, meanwhile, is described as a male or a female of any ethnicity between the ages of 30 and 38. After growing up homeless with a drug-addicted mother, he or she suffered a great loss at an early age and has been seeking revenge ever since. Roman is ultimately an outsider who doesn't understand how to connect with people.

Could just be flashbacks since the Duffers confirmed she's definitely dead, and season two is supposedly featuring her parents who are trying to figure out what happened to her.

Will.

true, monsters are generalized in that way, but the vale of shadows, as described by dustin pretty much exactly matches up with the upside down. They even showed scenes of it while he read the entry in the books for the vale. Look, its definitely possible, even probable, that dnd just happened to sinc up with the events of the show, but I would like to believe that the creators will tie it in a little bit more purposefully that mere chance.

Will is a guy...

...

Nah it was the 80s so they'd be too afraid of catching the AIDS.

An even BIGGER Chad than Chad? Holy kek.

>when Froggo will kill himself from Britbong's rejection.

wut

The Vale of Shadows isn't an official D&D location, it was made up by Mike for their campaigns.

>Thought the show was going to be an anthology/a collection of stories, the title would make a lot of sense in this case
>It's just going to focus on the same 3 kids because people liked them a lot

I'm upset

Neat. Looks like a new contender for The Lost Brother.

really? I could have sworn I heard about it long ago in one of my old dnd video games. Oh well, off to google then to find out where that term came from.

But regardless of how official it is relative to real dnd, we're talking about the show's dnd. And in that version it matched up with the alt dimension.

I don't know why you are posting a smug pepe. Will is a guy and Mike is a guy who is not gay. They can't be together, period.

He won't, didn't you see how he fools around with Wyatt today? He's all smiles now.

>But regardless of how official it is relative to real dnd, we're talking about the show's dnd. And in that version it matched up with the alt dimension.
Then there isn't really much to think about, if an alternate universe's fictional D&D is explaining the alternate universe's reality. The show creators can butcher and change whatever they want to serve their storytelling.

I wonder if either The Palace or The Secret Cabin has anything to do with "Castle Byers", Will's little fort in the woods that exists in the Upside Down too and was where he was hiding until the monster got him.

also:
>implying the Upside Down isn't the Underdark

those kids are going to have Driders up their asses

>No boy will ever look at you like that

Bad feel.

youtube.com/watch?v=OjYRo1iua8Y

forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Vale_of_Shadows

That doesn't sound anything like the place Dustin was describing.

Kind of wish season 2 would pick up in a different setting/time. Not really itching to know more about 'upside down world' and all that shit. Weakest part of the show

try this:
dungeons.wikia.com/wiki/SRD:Plane_of_Shadow

(maybe the Stranger Things writers liked the "vale" name better?)

Mike will start dressing as 11 and enter a interracial gay trans relationship

This. The story ended fine. The generic upside down and the shitty monster were the least compelling parts of the show

just kys or go back to tumblr

I enthusiastically support their wuv.

...

i'm watching their appearance on the fallon show

why isn't that 5th kid with them. must suck for him. he was the nucleus of the show but was barely ever in it.

Me too, shall they live long together and prosper

>The Plane of Shadow is magically morphic, and parts continually flow onto other planes. As a result, creating a precise map of the plane is next to impossible, despite the presence of landmarks.
That may explain why the Upside Down isn't synced with the real world. When Hopper and Joyce leave the lab there's no fence or anything, they just walk straight into the woods. And when they're walking through the house there are no Xmas lights or anything that Joyce had done to the house. Which raises the question, at what point did the Upside Down start reflecting the real world?

true, they probably didn't put too much thought into.

thanks bro, I was looking through my old PC games collection and couldn't find it but this helps.

Fallon probably couldn't afford all the kids. Apparently the kid who played Will got paid the most out of all of them, despite appearing in less episodes.

Wasn't he sick or something?

The interview, game and sketch were all so fucking painful to watch. I really don't know how Fallon remains on television. I wish they'd gone on Conan, can just imagine the banter Andy would've had with them.

holy shit if that's what they're secretly alluding too FUCCCCCCCC...

The real question then, will be where will they get the +1 weapons needed to fight the drow? They need to introduce the town's comic book store owner who will know exactly what they need and how to get it.

Any fanart?

Nah, celebrities don't get 'paid' for that sort of thing. The show will pay for their flights/accommodations/ and depending on their union be given a small stipend for daily expendatures. If I recall, it is something like 600-700 bucks for SAG-AFTRA, although that was a few years ago. They probably couldn't work out the schedules, or the bookers didn't think four 13 year old guests at once would make for coherent television.

It may have been because he was barely on the show in the first place

>at what point did the Upside Down start reflecting the real world?

perhaps when they put some Stephen King in the blender:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Tower:_The_Gunslinger

>The main story takes place in a world that is somewhat similar to the Old West but exists in an alternate (future) timeframe or parallel universe. Roland exists in a place where "the world has moved on". This world has a few things in common with our own, however, including memories of the old song "Hey Jude" and the child's rhyme that begins "Beans, Beans, the Musical Fruit". Vestiges of forgotten or skewed versions of real-world technology also appear, such as a reference to a gas pump that is worshipped as a god named "Amoco", and an abandoned way station with a water pump powered by an "atomic slug".

(with the Hawkins National Laboratory essentially being The Shop from Firestarter, and Project Arrowhead from The Mist... and those weird organic portals to the Upside Down being the Stranger Things version of a Thinny)

I wonder if the Upside Down actually is a point in the future where some sludge shit has overgrown the planet. It plays into the science teacher's example of folding a paper plate and poking a hole in it, but it's actually two points in time that are now overlapping, possibly caused by Eleven through complete accident. Maybe all the parallel universe stuff is there to throw us off.

>like 600-700 bucks
700 dollars for a couple hours worth of work doesn't sound too bad. tfw poorfag

if so, then only doctor who could save the world at that point.

When will Brazilians dig out that canadian interview, I'm getting impatient

It certainly isn't for people like you and I, but when you consider that in order to be on one of these shows, you have to be pretty damned successful it really isn't all that much. For comparison, a day player on a scale production can make as much as a grand for a day's work. A principal player, even on a small scale show like ST, makes A LOT more than that. And if you're not in town, these talk show appearances cost you several days of not working, so that 700 dollar figure ends up being negative money.

Seriously. I think it's high time Froggofriends and Brazilians joined forces.

What if El really is the Demogorgon? What if she has the capacity for clairvoyance and sensed the Demogorgon in the future when projecting herself because she recognized her own brain waves? Her mind "erupts" at some point in the future after cunts like Lucas convince her she's a monster, expelling a huge amount of energy out of her face and twisting her body into the Demogorgon, while the world around her transforms into a gooey hellhole.

And then Mike wakes up and it was all a dream, and his bed is a bit stickier than he remembered it

That can never happen. The stake is too high. We just must find a friendly Canadian who will illegally download this highly sensitive content. Fresh Froggo cinematography can't just wasted away, unseen.

The Demogorgon actually uses telekinesis in the first episode to remove the latch on Will's front door, and I'm pretty sure it's the only point in the show it demonstrates it. The El is Demogorgon theory is pretty sound, but we'll have to wait and see if the Demogorgon actually comes back or if the Duffers are moving on from that and leaving us to wonder.

Wew

>Or, if we're still following Hopper, perhaps he sees Will "coming back to life" as reason to believe his daughter may still be around in a parallel universe, and he's hoping El can make it happen.

i really, really doubt they will do this. that was the plot of fringe. it would be incredibly stupid of them to copy it

>A polliwog, on the other hand, is a tadpole

the slugs will barfs up arent slugs, theyre tadpoles or some other babby form of the demigorgon

Why is she called eleven?
Where are the other ten?

brenner has them locked away somewhere, to be used as secret weapons if needed. I bet they're all boys since boys kill so much easier. But they probably became too addicted to violence so they had to be put on ice, and then they thought of trying to make a girl powerhouse thinking she would be the perfect balance between powerful and won't go off the deep end.

>Where are the other ten?
Roaming around Hawkins most likely

>it would be incredibly stupid of them to copy it
But incredibly like them to do it.

>a girl powerhouse won't go off the deep end
>what are female hormones

I don't think the previous ten were success stories, hence Brenner's amazement at everything El was capable of, and considering she's apparently the first one to make contact with the Upside Down. Either their minds cracked under the pressure or they didn't display any gifts at all, and they were done away with. But you just know they'll spring "the other ten" shit when they've run out of ideas.

the backstory of the scientists doesn't matter
this is literally the metaphor

>literally the metaphor
What are you even saying?

Are they confirmed for gay?

So did anyone manage to get this canadian interview? The site still won't load to me.

This isn't a general thread, fuck off with your pedo obsessions

I don't know, user. During his periscope Finn said that he is not gay, and I believe him, but he might just as well be bisexual as far as we know . Wyatt is probably gay, he never talked about it, but the way he acts indicates that he is into boys, Finn and Jaeden especially.

>You will never be a young gay actor

>girlfriend works in series management for Netflix
>she won't shut the fuck about Stranger Things
>her work friends won't shut the fuck about Stranger Things
>her family won't shut the fuck about Stranger Things
>she didn't even work on the show
I wish people would shut the fuck about Stranger Things. It was good, but it wasn't anywhere near as good as people are making it out to be.

>ywn be a young actor who gets to work and goof around with Finn

Why do they never hang out with the black kid?

I'd rather have sex with the other twinks tbqh

They don't like him, for some reason. I think during one of their scopes Jack said something racist about this guy, but I don't remember exactly what.

This post perfectly epitomizes everything wrong with Sup Forums.

Explain, because I unironically don't get what you mean.

No. You deserve ignorance.

I finished watching this today.

Why is it so hyped? Is it the 80s nostalgia?

It just felt like bland Netflix brand casting and writing. Not just saying this because it's popular or anything.

This thread needs more Eleven
