This was really good. I went in with medium expectations and was surprised at how smart and funny it was.
I think the girl was the best character. I liked Hugh Grant as the veteran British spy. I liked all the slick stunts.
What did Sup Forums think?
Ayden Johnson
Fucking loved it. Very fun movie. Car chases especially good.
Mason Gutierrez
>HANG ON COWBOY!
Everything after that is gold.
Jack Baker
>think the girl was the best character. she was literally the worst
>surprised at how smart and funny it was >smart how so?
>funny i don't remember laughing a single time
David Butler
You didn't laugh at the CO2 laser bit?
Jaxson Richardson
Agree, It was. beautifully shot, fun and the soundtrack was spot on. I didn't expect much going in but left impressed.
Jonathan Cox
>i don't remember laughing a single time ok
Aiden Nguyen
>not mentioning henry
Jackson Lee
Great movie that proves Cavill should be the next Bond. Also Alicia Vikander is a qt3.14.
Aiden Martinez
Cavill was good but couldnt they have cast an actuall American to play a badass American spy?
Jaxson Reyes
fuck off racist
Lucas Rodriguez
I watched it basically just because Cavill tickles my inner faggot and Ritchie has not made any total stinkers yet. All of his movies are fairly entertaining at worst.
Was still seriously surprised, it was really fucking good. Warmly waiting for the inevitable sequel.
Ayden Long
What are some other good Guy Ritchie films? I saw Snatch way back when, don't remember much about it other than people wanting to live in "caravans."
Is RocknRolla good?
Adam Turner
My friend was laughing like a madman and saying it was the best shit ever. we watched the film together, i dont get the fuss. i think cavill just makes her giddy.
Colton Robinson
>warmly waiting for the inevitable sequel
Jacob White
Idris Elba wasn't available
Jordan Miller
My favorite spy movie in years. I pray every day for more.
Brayden Flores
Tfw it was not a hit and probably won't have a sequel...
Connor Bennett
it was fun, which makes me wonder why critics disliked it. they complain when films take themselves too seriously, but when whine about this film not having any substance to it.
Leo Torres
>Ritchie has not made any total stinkers yet.
Sherlock Holmes, so bad people forget it even happened.
Jace Reyes
I enjoyed it and the sequel.
William Barnes
>Was still seriously surprised, it was really fucking good. Warmly waiting for the inevitable sequel.
It was a box office disaster, there will be no sequel.
Personally I found it ok if a bit too generic, the sexual attraction between Vikander and Arnie worked well on screen, it was a bold move to keep it in the 60s rather than in a contemporary setting, too bad it didn't pay off.
Matthew Cooper
I sound it pretty lackluster to be honest. Pasting from previous thread:
- It has weak direction, everywhere from the chase scenes to the split screens moments that exist just to pay homage to the show. It seems like they shot a ton of scenes without planning and then figured them out in post.
- The characters barely develop until the movie's forced ending. Would the Russian agent have overcome his anger if Solo hadn't randomly found his father's watch? These two characters never really bond throughout the movie yet we seem them enjoying a drink together at the end? Also, why would Teller fall for the Russian agent knowing he previously tried to kill her?
- The villains sucked--they never succeed in anything until Teller spoonfeeds them critical information. Contrast this to the earlier scene where Teller is nervous that the villains will find her out. Victoria could've been an amazing villain but all she does is drug people and get blown up by cruise missiles--hardly a mastermind.
- The comedic parts were seriously overdone, like the part where Solo eats a sandwich while his teammate gets shot up and drowns. Or when Solo keeps finding hidden tracking devices in his stuff. Even one of the best scenes--the interrogator--becomes a 10-minute setup to a throwaway joke when he squeals like a pussy. They're not necessarily bad jokes, but they should've had less screen time or been merged with other scenes.
Nitpicking: - Toward the end, why didn't the Victoria's boyfriend join the villains on the boat? Better yet, why didn't he just kill Teller before escaping? Was he just using her to distract the agents?
- When your soundtrack generally sucks, don't/shoot your scenes like a music video--it just doesn't work.

>the sexual attraction between Vikander and Arnie worked well on screen I kinda liked the ongoing gag that every time they were about to kiss they got interrupted.
Wyatt Fisher
Only people who threw a shitfit over Holmes were the cunts that keep treating the books like they're some kind of holy artifacts instead of massproduced schlock that they are.
Kevin Butler
>I kinda liked the ongoing gag that every time they were about to kiss they got interrupted.
That pent-up sexual frustration was basically Armie's entire character.
Adrian Johnson
Don't want to hijack the thread, but I was really excited when I heard Downey was going to play Holmes.
The Basil Rathbone Holmes movies degenerated to the point that Doctor Watson was an old fuddy duddy comic relief.
The first few Conan Doyle stories depicted Watson as the alpha narrator and Sherlock Holmes was this bizarre genius creature that he practically took around on a leash. I thought Downey would be perfect for this. But I saw that the film only hinted at this spin on the story.
