They are like emo screamo fags what sound does a mastadon make is good though. All about one dead three wounded.
Was this scene the pinnacle of post-hardcore?
Forgot pic like a dumbass
I recently discovered this masterpiece
The Fall of Troy aren't just The Mars Volta Lite? How can i get into them?
they're more mathy+emo, less prog
not really a good comparison
just listen to doppelganger and ghostship demos
listen to manipulator and s/t if you really like those
avoid anything else
The singing kills it
It's a good one.
They're like At The Drive-In More Different.
Yeah, the singing is is sort of an acquired taste.
What about Risecore?
You mean like Attack Attack! and shit like that?
Like, bands on Rise Records?
I don't know man, everything on Rise just started sounding samey to me after a while.
Post your post hardcore collages
Also recommend me something based on my albums, i'm entry level so don't be harsh lol
I'm enjoying this so far
More post-post-hardcore like this?
Have you dug into the rest of Louisville yet?
by getting into Dance Gavin Dance because they're the same thing with more creativity and more than one good album
implying that math rock isn't just a lite version of prog rock
Why is it cool to pretend to be teens now?
Louisville?
You're welcome ;)
The actual city Louisville, they had a post-hardcore scene in the 90's and somewhat into the 2000's. Mentally-ill-core as I call it.
>liking a genre of music makes you underage
wtf, I'm so enlightened now!
DGD though
t. metal bashing hypocrite
Sing the Sorrow is the greatest album ever.
>metal bashing
When was this ever implied?
Personally, Slayer is one of my favorite bands, even if their most recent album leaves something to be desired.
Yeah, DGD has been getting better. Mothership was fuckin fantastic, especially when compared to Instant Gratification, and Man of the Year is Tillian's best track.
Yes.
Seconding this. I've been spending more time with Three Four lately. Really solid compilation. Paper Lanterns kind of bothers me because Flies The Fields' version of Paper Lanterns is infinitely better.
We can have this thread without being called nu-males or faggots?
Hoo, what a revelation.
Think I'll have to sit down for this!
i'm gay, any recs?
Has been a favorite for months.
You know this is St. Vincent's producer?
Yeaaaap, now that I'm all settled in, time to share some songs.
youtube.com
Holy shit, this was so good.
Nice and spooky,
Makes me want to binge American Horror Story.
Got this chart guys, thought you'd be interested
Jesus Christ La Dispute is so good. What are your guys thoughts on them?
>No Place
>Happiness
>Manipulator
>Wildlife
>Relationship of Command
Are there any better albums in the scene?
I'd actually argue that DBM II is just slightly better than Happiness.
But hey, that's just personal preference.
I really like DBM2, probably my second fav by them desu. But I'm a die hard Kurt fan, and Happiness is just so concise and funky, there's not a second I dislike on it.
My boi. Wildlife is one of the best PH albums I've heard. There's not a single track on that album that is bad
ya pretty good list user
City of Caterpillar just released an EP, the first thing they've released since their demo/live recording compilation album in 2002.
thearchivistlabel.bandcamp.com
It's not anything we haven't heard before but could it mean some sort of reformation?
I like it, though I agree the Flies the Fields version is better
seriously why do people love to compare mars volta to TFoT?
they are wildly different bands.
Bump
Everyone listen to this.
It's awesome
Dazzling Killmann anybody?
Face Of Collapse is an underground classic. I've got Dig Out The Switch. I'll have to upload it to expose it to more people.

holy shit ty
>another rock sub, sub, subgenre general
Fuck this pleb board
>Translating the Name
Based
Holy shit, how haven't i heard of this!
numale faggots wearing problem glasses
They were all jazz students before forming Dazzling Killmen. Crazy shit,.
Here's a great album you guys will probably like
Shut the fuck up man, grow up out of this shit.
That's fucking cool as fuck, have they got any jazz side projects?
I haven't seen anyone else here that's into 0.8syooogeki. They're a hell of a lot of fun. Nice Portugal. The Man and Deep Turtle too.
A->B Life is mewithoutyou's best
The Cure For The Pain Is In The Pain Is Goat
This is damn good stuff. Goddamn. Thanks for this.
Kind of feel their debut self titled is so much better in my opinion.
>What Sound Does A Mastodon Make

>Spartacus

These songs definitely make this album for me, hard to believe they were so young when creating the album.
Posting THE fucking GOAT.

Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crime

The GOAT opening track without exaggeration.
youtube.com
Holy shit, that opening track
chairman, please, share some more
DC was better.
Holy shit, I was just thinking about how they should regroup and release Driving Spain Up a Wall
Why would you put one of the worst and least spoken word mwY albums on here? Also, What It Takes To Move Forward is not spoken word whatsoever.
Holy shit, thanks man. I would have completely missed this if you didn't post this.
I like
Genuinely surprised this thread hasn't been invaded by "t. nu male" pricks from /metal/
They're touring again, so perhaps they'll end up recording something new. Be sure to watch them live if you get the chance - saw them last friday, and it was one of the best, most intense concerts i've been to
Nigger I will murder you
First band I ever saw at the tender of age of 14 in 2008. Got Thom's pick, still have it buried away in my old bedroom back home. Listening back to them and the singing grates but the music itself is still just as good.
Not OP, But that's pretty awesome man. I personally like the singing it feels like it adds more character to their music. Do you have a favorite song by them?
Have this cover tattooed on my back. I don't regret it, still love this band.
At-the-Drive-In is great, as well.
Anyone know anymore spazzy hardcore like The Blood Brothers and Fall Of Troy etc?
Hold on, I think I've got something for that.
youtube.com
Literally anything by this band.
I came here to inform you that Manipulator is far superior.
Bad Opinion
Wrong
children
why are there too many non spoken word albums in this chart
the vancouver ep is their best, after wildlife they went a way that i didnt like
Honestly I think that album is closer to post-punk
Daddy
Actually I'm a fan of anything Wildlife and on. Their earlier stuff doesn't appeal to me. I like the direction they're taking. Not as "hardcore" but still pleasant to listen to
Unwound's pre-challenge for a civilized society stuff is amazing, especially repetition and fake plastic ideas.
Also Frodus is the bomb.
hey my man that's some good picks
y'all talkin' about GOAT yet i don't even see this
...
thank you
Post-hardcore hits a sweet spot for me that doesn't even make sense given my preferences or history with music.
>started with funk and disco
>moved to The Beatles, The Who and The Kinks
>went to IDM and Prog Rock
>listened to mostly Post-Punk for a few months
>spent like two years listening to Jazz, Canterbury prog and Zappa and Beefheary
>found Post-Hardcore and it became my favorite genre overnight
I don't even listen to it that much but it's always something that makes me feel great. I don't even know why.
It's intense like punk, but usually more technical and interesting.
Alright, better strap myself in for more Swancore.
youtube.com
Tbh, I like there Hear Here stuff better than their actual work. Vocalist does a great job as it is for their hardcore stuff, but sound WAY better doing spoken word and emo shit.
What is that Techno album with the Japanese letters?
