There's really no straight answer. There have been times where I was on a good path as far as school and general life choices where weed and cocaine would help me escape the stress of a heavy workload as long as they were relegated to a small corner of my time. Not to sound like the typical wook, but acid did help me jump to some important conclusions, particularly my second time tripping about 4 years ago. On the other hand, there have been times where I've fucked things up for myself by being involved with drugs. Personally, these issues have had more to do with society and drugs than the drugs themselves. I was arrested for distribution and then kicked out from home, understandably in hindsight. I've passed up opportunities that could've really helped me move forward in life because I was caught up in getting fucked up, and it's impaired my decision making skills on countless occasions where I've done things that I wish I could undo. Meanwhile, being involved in drug trade and drug culture in general helped me with a lot of things. I learned confrontational skills, negotiation, overall interpersonal things that have helped me in other areas of my life. I've also had insightful trips and journals of highdeas (the journals do have a lot of dreck but you take what you can get out of that sort of thing).

The bottom line is, your brain is like bread. You can't untoast bread. Then again, some people like toast.

Op here, basically I started drinking in 6th grade but starting smoking pot my freshman year. Moved out when I turned 15 and thats when the heavy drinking and drug use started. My parents were heroin addicts and abusive so I was an angry kid, and basically I dealt with it through drugs, it made school easier, it made being homeless easier and everything more fun. It started with acid then more and more combos of psychedelics

there is a big difference between taking harmful drugs repeatedly and doing it once. i can say ive tried everything doesnt mean my brain has taken damage, i was braindamaged from birth so i can rule out that option that i might have taken braindamage from drugs.
i stuck with weed quit alchohol synthetic drugs. living a pretty normal life considering my wild youth. still 28 years young and make the ladies turn thier eyes towards me when we walk by on the street. i dont regret taking all the substances ive tried, they made me into the beautiful human alien being that i am today and i wouldnt change it for the better
