This might be a bit difficult but can someone take Zappa's entire discog and separate the actual listenable music from the cringeworthy tryhard shlock.
Thank u

>cringeworthy tryhard shlock.
He in fact tried so hard that he was one of the pioneers of a couple of subgenres of music. Pierre Boulez of all people conducted his classical and orchestral works. All try hard shit, right? You're clearly not interested in genuine appreciation of music.
>implying being a zappa caliber try hard is a bad thing

Listen to some live stuff. Live at The Roxy is a must.
The Yellow Shark too.
Save Yellow Shark for last,
Nothing like finally hearing Franks music the way it was meant to be.
if you haven't heard joe's garage id recommend you listen to part 1, you should also hear watermelon in easter hay at the end of joe's garage.
personally lately i've been enjoying the fillmore east live album and chunga's revenge
Best live albums i've heard so far are...
>Roxy & Elsewhere
>You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 2
>In New York
>Philly '76
>Carnegie Hall
>Road Tapes Venue 1, & 2
all 3 parts would be fine, he'd miss out on gems like Sy Borg, and A Token of My Extreme. The story/plot of JG is worth the full listen too
soulless
lol i've actually only ever had the CD which is two discs so i always consider disc one which ends on sy borg to be "part one". i've actually never been clear on what the three parts where desu. a token of my extreme is actually one of my favorites and a highlight that shouldn't be missed.
I'll ask the opposite question, where do I start if I want to listen to his wacky jazz/classical/progressive rock stuff?
hah yea same here its got a very pretty melody doesnt it
I think act II starts with Token and act III starts with He used to cut the grass, each act is about 38 or 39 minutes

I'm not about to disagree.
Uncle Meat is really good, and basically an instrumental album, but it's not as accessible as something like Hot Rats, which is what most people will recommend.
just listen to pre 70s mothers and let it be
