Unpopular Opinions Thread

What opinions do you hold that aren't the norm? I'll start:

>A Thousand Suns is the best Linkin Park album
>Talking Heads aren't that good

electro > techno
turntablism > rap
chamber music > orchestral music
funk/soul > rock/metal

>Frontier Psychiatrist is the worst song on SILY
and by extension
>I much prefer Wildflower to SILY

>Samhain > Danzig > Misfits
>Alice in Chains > Nirvana
>Chief Keef > Lil Yachty + Lil Uzi + Lil Pump + Famous Dex + XXX + etc.
>Government Plates > NLDW > everything else
>On Avery Island > ITAOTS
>Gorillaz s/t > Demon Days > Plastic Beach > The Fall > Humanz
>Nas, Radiohead, AnCo, Brian Eno, Swans, The Cure, The smiths, Joy Division, are all overrated and or bad
>7 Day Theory is the best 2pac album
>DJ Screw is a genius/ good
>Djent/prog/power/melodic/death are terrible
>first wave black metal is the only good movement in the genre

Chief Keef is a pioneer.

animal collective are not that good

A few more:
>Smash Mouth isn't just a meme, they are ska perfection
>the only good thing Alice in Chains ever made was Jar of Flies

both the Smashing Pumpkins and the Avalanches are extremely overrated bands and have niether of them have ever released a single album above 6/10

>Brian Eno
>overrated
HERESY. I understand that you can find boring his ambient stuff, but how can you not love Before and After Science and his albums before Discreet Music?

The Head on the Door is the tightest and most consistent Cure album

good morning good night is really good

All grunge, including but not limited to Nirvana, Alive and Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and Sound Garden, fucking suck. The only grunge band that isn't absolute trash is Pearl Jam, but that's only because they weren't just a grunge band, and had a pretty wide range.

> electro > techno

This. Definitely definitely this. I love techno but electro is better.

...

Hip hop is fine and all but it's not really that lyrically amazing as much as people think it is and it can never reach the artistic value of funk/rock/soul because it is very limited

>literally likes the worst of "the big four" grunge bands
>totally dismisses the others

hmmmmm

soundgarden is by far the best band there you fucking pleb

>very limited
How so?

A lot of Pearl Jam's stuff fills me with a deep melancholy (in a good way) for some reason

>Eno
>Bad
You're going all out I see.

Storm > Sleep

static > storm > sleep

Kind of Blue is overrated and serves as a pleb filter to detect people who can't into jazz

Mystique > Magneto > Storm

go back to listening to Creed and Bush, nobody wants to hear your shitty opinions here

Swans is an overrated band.

Black music is emotionally stunted

>Kate Bush's voice was better on her first two records
>Karma is better than A Love Supreme
>Bowie is mediocre
>Hendrix is mediocre
>Joy Division is bad
>77 Live is shit

>Nas, Radiohead, AnCo, Brian Eno, Swans, The Cure, The smiths, Joy Division, are all overrated and or bad
>Brian Eno
Literally couldn't care about any of your other pitiful opinions, but this you need educating in.
Go and do a bit of research.
Probably the only thing I can say actually.

ANYONE who thinks Eno is overrated in any way has virtually no idea what he has done. In fact I bet your favourite band has at one time been produced by or worked with Eno.

I don't think any artist is more than 6 degrees of separation away from Eno.

Without question, Animal Collective have been one of the best groups of the last 20 years.

Exactly.
Baffles me how ignorant some people can be on a MUSIC board.

Jazz is not really discussed much around these parts apart from circlejerking about same albums over and over

>Frontier Psychiatrist is the worst song on SILY
I'll accept that sure I'm with you
>I much prefer Wildflower
Now you've gone too far this time, Anonymous

every person is within six degrees seperation from Eno

This is less of an opinion and more of a fact

>I don't care about your pitiful opinions

That makes the two of us

>but this you need educating in

Lol

I'm not saying he hasn't been vastly influential or left an impact, say, just like the beetles have, but he is still highly overrated. Eno's ambient projects really diminish his collective body of work.

>Eno's ambient projects really diminish his collective body of work.
How does that work?

Because his discography would be much better without them?

>Eno's ambient projects really diminish his collective body of work.

Do you not like Eno's ambient music, or do you just dislike ambient music in general?

If it's the former, it's a case of the "Seinfeld isn't funny" effect. If it's the latter, you shouldn't be giving your opinion on the topic.

its the only good music hes done

I like ambient when it's actually interesting. I don't know why you are getting ass hurt over an opinion, especially given the thread we are in, nobody's opinion is going to get changed here.

>I like ambient when it's actually interesting.
t. stars of the lid and grouper are my life

what is this guy?

Seems like you're arguing just for the sake of it. It just comes across as ignorant.
Go and do a little homework before saying that Brian Eno is an overrated musician!
Maybe you need to learn what overrated means.

Stop typing.

oh before you do, let us know who is your favourite artist, just so we can laugh about how eno has produced one of their albums.

>Smash Mouth isn't just a meme
I actually enjoy them unironically
>ska perfection
wat

>stars of the lid
not sure if your the same guy, but they are literally the most mediocre, nothing group ever. on par with the likes of coldplay.

>>Gorillaz s/t > Demon Days > Plastic Beach > The Fall > Humanz
This is correct but is this really unpopular?

>can't seem to get into ambient and rap music
>only swans album I actually like is Filth
>Tim>Let it Be

Curve are better than MBV or Slowdive.

>Seems like you're arguing just for the sake of it.

The pot calling the kettle black

>let us know who is your favourite artist, just so we can laugh about how eno has produced one of their albums

Wouldn't matter as you have already decided any artist I could give already pales in comparison to the AMAZING Brian Eno

>>Tim>Let it Be
One of my friends thinks this too and I can't wrap my head around it.

drop the passive-agressive front, it's very reddit-y and dishonest
maybe I shouldn't expect that much of a misfits fan but some actual criticism of eno's ambient would get you somewhere

Not even him - so, why don't you like Eno then?

>trying this hard

pot, meet kettle

just looked up who produced your favourite album did you?
was it eno?

oh dear.

I suppose the others are debatable, but Fush Yu Mang is 100% ska, and it's some of the best I've heard

>wah stop disliking what I like

Jokes on you, I still think your favorite artist is overrated and there's nothing you can say to change my mind

Why discuss anything if this is your attitude towards music discussion?

I actually think Swans sounds good and that their musical efforts should be held in high regard.

I've found none of their records engaging except Cop and Filth.

What about the Young God EP or Public Castration? Those records are close to Cop and Filth too

Ænima >>>> Lateralus

Haven't listened to the EPs and live albums, because I couldn't make it through Soundtracks for the Blind. I'm just not new to experimental music, I think that's why their music doesn't engage me much.

Joy Division is fucking bad to my ears

I recommend you do because most of them are in the same vein as Cop and Filth

Undertow is the best Tool album.

I only have live albums and EPs left to listen to, correct?

How is that even possible when a band called Radiohead exists

Yeah, outside of Road to Nowhere and Once in a Lifetime Talking Heads are pretty bad.

i think this too..

Kanye West is the best lyricist in hip-hop and the only one using the genre to it's fullest potential.

The Beatles peaked in 1964-1966.

NOW IF I FUCK THIS MODEL
