In 2009: 'This is FUCKING amazing, holy shit' *gets tons of praise online*
In 2017: 'Animal Collective? Oh that shit band... Yeah, MPP sucks ass, overrated shit fucking band. *Ratings for MPP get progressively worse online as time goes on*
Honestly it's a fucking masterpiece to rival the likes of Pet Sounds and I don't understand how people can't see it.
Dylan Diaz
It's now cool to ridicule Anco because 7.4 and 6.2
Oliver Perry
For fucking real, don't take other people's opinions seriously.
It's a fantastic album. It's just a bunch of A. AnCo elitists who want to prove their patrician status by saying ____ other AnCo album is better or B. hipsters disowning it because it's cool to like it who are shitting on it.
Samuel Barnes
after 8 years the appeal of the album wears off a bit it's like a really sugary drink that tastes amazing when you first try it so you gorge yourself, but then after a while it just makes you feel sick most of us loved this album so much that we've listened it to death and the novelty has worn off, that's what happened to me anyway
Lincoln Peterson
hype cycle also the fact that everything they've released since FBK has been hot garbage
Liam Martin
high-school hipsters who were praising it in 2009 had 8 years to grow up and develop actually good music taste.
Dylan Adams
>actually good music taste. such as?
Joseph Evans
I see them as this forced "LE NEXT TOP TIER NORTH AMERICAN PSYCH POP BAND DUDE!!" that wasn't as good as the media said. Eventually the same media that sucked their cock slowly threw them in the garbage with each realese and even more with the rise of meme rap, internet based hip hop and SJW R'N'B. The kids and young hipsters who grew up with this illusion of them having "classic" albums are the only thing left.
The same thing is going to happen to Tame Impala for sure. Once the hype is dead and when the media starts working on the next music trend they will be considered what they always were: Mediocre indie. Dude it's a good album but calm down. It has some serious flaws. 8/10 album at least but it didn't push anything.
Joshua Sullivan
death grips
Adrian Harris
They turned to shit after Fall Be Kind, which was amazing, and you all know it.
Aaron Phillips
Are there any screencaps from when this first dropped?
Isaac Perry
>serious flaws
Name one
Michael Brooks
DG (tms) and MPP ended up the same though, really well liked at release, and after a couple years newfriends calling them shit and "meme albums", and the people who liked it back then, downplay the album because its not as hipster or new as before
Charles Diaz
...
William James
Pretty simple really
William Turner
drones moved on into the rap bandwagon
Owen Butler
Also Frightened and No More Runnin
Charles Gomez
Sometimes they don't let the songs flow as they should because they are occupied drowning themselves with shitty reverb or trying to be experimental for the sake of it. Some songs have a good balance between the composition, harmony, experimentation and muh special effects some others don't.
What a fucking disgrace of an album cover.
Lincoln Johnson
FBK is overrated imo. The songs are decent but from Feels through MPP they rode a happy medium between well written songs and using effects, but FBK goes overboard with the effects on some songs that are just decent, although it has two really good tracks. CHz does too to an extent, but the songs on that are actually good. And ODDSAC is better than both of those
Connor Morris
semi-related. are there any albums that sound like Visiting Friends?
Ayden Watson
I need to listen to this again desu, it's been too long.
Owen Richardson
>ywn listen to the jam of a lifetime for the first time with 2009 Sup Forums during listen along threads
