Band of Brothers premiered 15 years ago today. It still holds up as one of the very best shows. 'Bastogne' may be one of the best individual episodes of all time. What does Sup Forums think about Band of Brothers?

GOAT miniseries.

I prefer Breaking Point over Bastogne 2bh.

>m-m-m-MEDIC
still gets me every time

So good desu. Just rewatched this in the spring.

camaraderie porn.

I learned zero from this "epic" other than bad leaders are bad and good leaders must have had banter with the lads.

I actually hate that line. It's so over acted.

>the spring

Literally the worst season to watch this on, are you a fucking psychopath?

what sorta brings that episode down for me is the unnecessary voice over.

>yfw you realize the old men in the beginning of the episodes are the men being portrayed in the series

ywn experience the bonds that they form as comrades in arms

Yeah that was a hell of a plot twist

Also adversity porn. You're not really supposed to learn anything from it; it's just a well-crafted portrayal of human hardship.

...

.

BoB, The Pacific and Generation Kill are all timeless masterpieces. Need Vietnam version.

this vietnam and ww1 versions please.
we are getting a ww2 airforce one though, that should be alright.

>The Pacific
>masterpiece

>The Pacific
>at all good

absolute madman

>The Pacific
>Timeless masterpieces
Nigger Pacific was dog shit.

TP might be my favorite of the 3 tb h

Pacific had pretty good action scenes and that after battle drama/ calm.

otehr than that it was pretty average.
only line I remember is

''happy birthday to you, youre surely fucked now''

Best character, no doubt. And he ain't no sucker, took spoils of war because he wanted a Cadillac and a nice lakeside cabin when he got back home

You have some shit taste. Way too much forced liberal bullshit from jew 1 and jew 2

Why? It's so incredibly corny. Everyone acts like a badass straight from the start and it's a cringefest watching everyone together since The Pacific interprets Band of Brothers style camaraderie to mean "these guys are ALWAYS jokin and laffin!" It's really unbearable to watch.

I can't fucking wait.

3 MILES UP
3 MILES DOWN

>this guy walks up to you and offers you a cigarette?

What do you do?

Best character. Knowing all that crazy shit he did is actually real...

He was, in all seriousness, a cuck.

I'll wait while you Google it.

Seeing that look on buck comptom gets me everytime you all no the gif

Wgere the fuck is my meditteranean miniseries from torch to the capture of rome

Buck and Lipton were the best characters in the series by far.

Read Spike Milligan's books

What season are you meant to watch it in?

Saving Private Ryan did it better

Unsere mutter, unsere father. Best ww2 series. Hands down over BB. This from BB fan. Book was great too.

I watched this but don't remember anything about it since I just fapped to the blonde girl the whole time

Generation War is also excellent. It's a little cheaper on production values, but a great fucking series. That said, BOB is also amazing.

youtube.com/watch?v=TmyGPX23px4

Its a winter series you stupid fuck.

I bet you watch Game of Thrones in the Fall, holy shit get out and don't come back till you've watched at least five kinos.

if they can pull off an accurate ww1 that would be epic

Eh, I'm not OP but I think it's more to show their warped sense of humor. How humor changes to them over time. For example: When you pic related starts throwing rocks into a dead Japanese soldier's skull for shits and giggles. Or when the one guy starts taking gold teeth.

BoB is definitive better, but I appreciate the Pacific for what it is.

Actually may I suggest Rick Atkinsons books Army at Dawn/Day of Battle

If you are a fan of the Longest Day you will love these ones

Generation Kill > Band of Brothers >> The Pacific

Thanks dood I'll check em out

Agreed. I cant fucking wait for a miniseries that focuses on the mighty 8th.

This movie is a bit dated, but if you havent seen it, watch it.

youtube.com/watch?v=ypvzo6iiM7M

Still on my list. Twelve O'Clock High is pure air war kino as well.

Friendly reminder that they are all dead by now.

Fucking hell, just watched the whole clip. This is incredible. What a brutal part of the war. Those poor bastards up there in their steel coffins ...

Malarkey still lives.

Its worth watching. Its cheesy as hell for modern standards but still a quality movie for 1990.

Watch the movie. It's dated as shit, but if you like aerial combat I guarantee youll enjoy it.

Did anyone else here watch Unsere Mütter Unsere Väter?

It's just as great as BoB.

I'm enjoying it so far.

My biggest complaint was they didn't fully capture the scale and boldness of market garden

Budget limitations?

Yeah but even then they could have had characters talk about the stakes a bit better. Bridge too far didn't have the biggest budget but scenes like the dash to the supply crate showed the desperation of the soldiers

Yes. Im really surprised Sup Forums isnt more into that miniseries. Its excellent and horribly under appreciated. .

My guess is that isn't not easily available and is in another language.

We salute the rank, not the man

Nice quote Lucifer

You're right, I guess. I'm watching episode 5 tonight.

I can find parts 1 and 2 easily, with the english subtitles, but not part 3. I know how it ended from youtube clips but It Id really like to see the whole story.

Generation War is criminally underappreciated.

I downloaded it off piratebay a few years ago. Should be easily available.

I can not for the life of me find part 3. And I pirate the shit out of everything.

It's almost like the studio knew what they were doing and let 1-2 intentionally.

Pretty smart. Id pay to watch part 3.

oh, and for you faggots that arent hip to generation war, watch this shit.

youtube.com/watch?v=NRAXjAQbEwM

These two movies from Clint Eastwood are pretty good, looking forward to the new Mel Gibson movie

German waifu

Fucking plebs everywhere.

They need to do the expedition in africa version

wtf

>DUDE WTF GERMANS ARE BAD LMAO

Piece of shit (((series)))

Unsere mutter, Unsere Vater was good, but there is just so god damned much Oy Vey in it. They could have separated at least some of the characters from muh-very-very-evil war crimes shit, like 99.9% of the German population during the war, but of course the whole series has to go in that direction.

you couldn't put it down any other way with the target audience of germany

Did he live out his dream?

fell in love with her almost instantly

>mfw when i found out world war 2 actually happened

Good point. With that in mind, it's a wonder that the singer doesn't get blacked and the Jew isn't saved by friendly Syrian migrants.

>some of you guys are alright
>don't go to normandy tomorrow

Carentan and the counter-attack are my favourite part of BoB desu

no, he tried to pick up a penny when he got back to san francisco, not realizing someone had nailed it to the floor as part of a prank.

some say he's still there to this day

Have you ever actually seen the show? The Germans aren't ever really shown as being soulless murder-machines, and in some of the later episodes end up being better people than the a few of the allied troops that capture them

Which streaming service has the entire series? Netflix (Bongistan) doesn't have it.

Hbo go

I used to think it was an objective 10/10 until some butthurt kraut on a Youtube video ruined it with the comment

>Retreating Germans getting shot in the back the show

Can't watch it now. Even in engagements were the elite forces held out for days they're depicted in the show as breaking and running only to be gunned down by the brave heroes. Doesn't do anyone involved any justice and isn't even comparatively entertaining.

Band of Brothers is way better than the Pacific but I watched it so much as a kid I enjoy watching the latter much more as an adult.

Used to work with a 19 year old girl who was absolutely obsessed with it. Watches it at least once a month. So strange. Cool tho.

this. other than the shoehorned MUH HOLOCAUST camp, which wasn't even in the book, germans weren't portrayed as inherently evil

[Fake Laughter]

But it's not fiction made up to make germans look bad, they actually did lose those engagements and get routed.

kek I've skipped that episode so much I completely forgot it existed.

He wasn't complaining about that, it was the fact that the protagonists in the show were attacking fleeing enemies, which was fucked up but not at all uncommon

If it was only about sledge I would agree. Lackie's story was fine but pointless. Also sledge's book is pretty good

Yes? That's what you do when the enemy flees. If they're dead they can't regroup. It's called Sweeping Advance.

Fleeing is not surrendering. "Shooting people in the back" is where most casualties are inflicted

So you should just stop shooting when the enemy runs away so they can become stronger and have knowledge on your position?

very true but in a television show where these battles are cut down to a few minutes it becomes very repetitive in BoB to see a short skirmish and then fleeing enemies.

The Battle of Carentan for instance held out for two days and the dug in German Fallschirmjäger only fled on the third because of ammo shortages and their reinforcements failing to show.

In the show they're overwhelmed by superior US maneuvring and gunned down as they retreated in broken order. It's how most of the engagements go in the show.

I'm not saying it makes the show bad or that BoB is bad but it's just something that detracts for me. Especially since the actual victory against such elite units was commendable as it was.

You were a kid when BOB came out?

Did your balls drop yet?

CONTRABAND

>ww1
SOMEONE HASN'T SEEN ANZACS
AND THAT MAKES SOMEONE A ROIGHT CUNT

You know Band of Brothers came out 15 years ago, right?

No on the contrary you don't retreat in full view of the enemy and in most of these cases in the show they didn't.

I'm 80% sure some of the veterans even commented on this in the Behind the scenes tracts.

Another scene comes to mind where Major Winters... maybe Captain in the episode I'm not sure leads a charge towards a camp of settled Germans and shoots the very young soldier that tries to surrender to him. The rest of the Germans all break and run to be massacred.

It's a cool scene and as far as historical depictions of historical battles go it's not a huge offender but it's a little absurd to watch.

PEACHES

Yea I was in the last year of Primary School. Fuck knows how I convinced my parents to let me watch it but I did watch original run. I'm 25.
