Mahmoud Awad- Sheikh to the future

One of the greatest prog metal albums ever made, actually one of the best albums in general

hybrid theory

kanye twisted fantasy

...

Bad taste

Not hard in a garbage genre

daydream nation

You. Suicide. Now.

And throw Chester back over the mortality barrier on your way out.

...

>wanting chester back
>unironically liking the start of progmetal cancer

Loveless

...

King of Limbs has grown on me

Unironically

Victoria.

Consider the following

>Start of progmetal cancer

That happened after Gavin Harrison(Great Drummer, but too much of a "mainstream" type of vibe for PT) joined Porcupine Tree, and doubled down once Mangini joined DT.

What genre would this be? It doesn't really sound like anything else I've heard but I like it

Jesus christ is this a youtube comments section? Dream Metal is just fuckin metal wank and Linkin Park has never made a single album of quality

what? there's nothing wrong with gavin harrison. the problem is jordan rudess enabling petrucci and portnoy to ruin music with their childish wankery

so this....is the power....of the underage crosspost invaders....woah...

grimes visions

Metal also known as it literally can not be good until pitchfork says otherwise.

A Thousand Suns

was really disappointed until I realized it's the best one

certainly better than the fucking hunting party, christ

Open your eyes, Victoria.

Hello Victoria

My friend

This happened with me with Loveless and White Light White Heat.

It's this and only this.

...

Math rock in general.

Everything Goes Numb by Streetlight Manifest. My introduction to ska that wasn't corny and I didn't like it at first. I also thought the lyrics were whiny.

But now it's one of my favorites, at least of the decade it come out.

this got me in to metal/rock/anything other than rap and dub-techno

Faust

'Humanz' by Gorillaz.

Hated on first listen, wanted to start it right back at the top, was miles better. Rinse, repeat, and now it's up there with the rest. (Especially if you rearrange it how you like + add the bonus tracks into the actual tracklist)

...

>First time listening: It's ok, but not as impressive as his others albums
>Listen again months later: Man that album is fucking great
This is actually pretty much a masterpiece and my favorite album of 2017.

Both of these records and everything released by both these bands are embarrassingly boring. Please go back to the boards you go to regularly.

...

>totally burned out on music because it's all so simplistic
>friend puts on DT
>just sit there on the couch totally with sweaty palms, too absorbed in the music to want to do anything

they have some good shit. But now i am beyond even DT. recommend me something more technical than DT. prefferably not rush

Geez man, I dunno. You've done King Crimson, right?

Progressive metal

Unironically sounds cool as hell

Dream Theater is good for educational purposes. When I was taking drum lessons, my teacher recommended DT. I bought a couple albums and was very impressed with the musicianship. The general songs were pretty tacky, however, and I grew to hate double bass drumming. DT helped to shape me as a musician.

Among the Living

>yo what if we attempted another story-based album like metropolis
>what if we also made it complete shit and tried doing it without mike portnoy

Metropolis Pt.2 is so fucking rad. I always listen to it when I'm traveling.

this for me

Haken is really good and they operate in the same sort of space as DT.

If you're looking for more stuff like DT on a technical level, but are ok with it not being as metal, check out Liquid Tension Experiment, The Flower Kings, Spock's Beard, Transatlantic, and (if you can handle some christfaggotry) Neal Morse. Below I've included some sample of what I would consider to be the best works of these five artists. many of these songs are quite long, so I recommend adding them to your "watch later" list and listening at your own pace.

Enjoy!

King Crimson for some really good and classic shit

But if you just want some metal wanking then Ne Obliviscaris and Elder will satisfy that.

Unironically great

The Brave Little Abacus - Just Got Back From the Discomfort-We're Alright

Was really put off on first listen but I came back because it was catchy and the sincerity grew on me. Its probably in my top 25 albums now. The description "roller tycoon music with spongebob vocals" is totally appropriate but they make it work.

wow I remember when this album was Sup Forumscore

I never see it mentioned anymore. Sad because it is a good album.

Interpol-TotBL. Didn't like it (except for Untitled) the first 3-4 times, but then the whole thing clicked for me on spin 5 or 6. Have loved it ever since

>referring to an album as a "her"
should have been first reply but nope this is normie board sooo
