i like to call my shit blushcore, it’s electronic beats that sample pop, jpop, trance and iconic 2000s era samples. i make breakbeats too. i like to use a lot of distortion and tape delay but i like to keep my music somewhat soft and cutesy.
>blushcore
>breakbeats
i’m also in a UK Cloud Rap group too called Limewire Boys, check us out cos we’ve been making music for two years. A lot of the shit we recorded last year is coming out now but towards the end of the summer our newer stuff’ll be out too.
the members of limewire boys are Neo Café, $hark and Yung Krane

Indeed.
As for lo-fi; friend, fidelity is in the ear of the beholder...

Very hip sound dude, I like the early century vibe :)
Rapped and produced this track. It Interpolates "Bad Boys" from the TV show Cops. Please like and repost if you enjoy it.

Doesn't seem like anyone gives helpful feedback, and none of this is going to get much attention beyond the sphere of the thread. Why bother? Who gets anything out of this?
EQ tip: rely on your ear, not a wave analyzer. Don't play with a graphic EQ to begin with either; get something simple with sliders so you can build an understanding of where certain sounds fall and with enough practice you'll be able to make a damn good guess if not be right on the money. People start using graphic eqs and end up blowing out the loudest frequencies because they're overwhelmed by their choices and then their mix sounds like flat, loud mud. Just focus on getting the fullest, clearest sound using the narrowest frequency band and you'll be good to go.
I want to sample your music

So im doing this project where I use my not understanding music on a technical level to my advantage. I have a deep understanding of things that i think make a song interesting.
The reason I think this is helpful to artists is because it offers them constructive criticism that still leaves them with complete freedom to do what they want to do, its just so useful to get a direction or vague idea that sparks something you may not have thought of.
So the first thing I do is decide whether something needs to be added or something needs to be taken away. I think with this its obviously very short so Id add an element.
Whats good about this is that its minimal but not incomplete, the song has a clear and interesting progression that evokes a feeling in me I cant quite nail. Notes of nostalgia, melencholy and some sort of note finality if that makes sense.
continued below
Kook lmao
Obviously what you do is up to you but Im just throwing out directions you can explore to better highlight what it is you're doing.
The first thing I see with this is that it could use some sort of underlying element that serves as a contrast to the feeling and melody. I also think this would be useful in giving the song an edge which may not be necessary but I think would add some level of...weight and...not sure how to put it but make the overall emotion of the song more earned if that makes sense.
It may be hard to understand what i mean by this but often I tell aggressive songs to add an underlying feeling of beauty to sort of underscore the aggressiveness and highlight key parts of the song. An obvious example would be Kanye going from minimal industrial sounds to maximal beautiful sounds on Yeezus.
This technique I feel is a simple one but can really give the song a sort of narrative depending on what you choose to highlight.
Another direction I can see you going with this is to go all in on the feeling of the sound and really just overwhelm the listener with the nostalgia/melencholy.
This is tricky because I think if you were to do that you'd have to do it in such a way that whatever element you add has to be coequal to the existing element. I could see you bringing in something from a compeltely different genre to still serve as a contrast to what you're already doing.
Take this for what its worth its your art do what you want. But im a big believer in artists going through stages, and most people get stuck in the stage where theyve achieved technical proficiency. Being good isn't enough you have to make the audience into sympathetic listeners, and this is where I think you have to start thinking about what it is this song is and what it is you can do to make sure the listener is understanding what you put out at a deep level. Thats the beautiful thing about music that no other art form can access, people can truly understand what it is you want them to understand on a deep emotional level.
I say this with all due respect, I just think you're onto something and can get to another level by not leaving this as a pretty but incomplete song.
PS im on a lot of cocaine
this is not your personal blog dude
cocaine helluva drug
but real talk I think its useful to hear vague but somewhat constraining broad idea that leaves you the freedom to do what you want but it freed you from the indeciveness that often happens after you have a basic idea for an artpiecd but it still needs...something
You're right ill be more mindful in the future. This was really self indulgent of me.
I hope theres something of value in my nonsense. Ill be more concise in the future
druggies out
