Where do I start with Nine Inch Nails
Where do I start with Nine Inch Nails
you don't ahahahahaha GOT HIM hahaha
chronologically
this. and i'm not normally the kinda guy who'd recommend listening to things chronologically.
start anywhere
GOTTA START BACK AT THE BOTTOM
start with either:
Pretty Hate Machine
The Downward Spiral (if you pick this listen from start to finish)
With Teeth
After you listen to one of these try the other 2 and then listen to:
Broken
Year Zero
The Fragile
PHM aged like shit senpai. Also you don't have to listen to everyone chronologically to see how their sound evolved over time.
In order of most accessible to least accessible:
>The Slip
>Hesitation Marks
>Year Zero
>With Teeth
>The Downward Spiral
>Broken EP
>The Fragile
>Pretty Hate Machine
>Ghosts I-IV
I'd start with The Slip if you're looking for a more generic electro-industrial (?) sound, Year Zero for more daring electronic. With Teeth/The Fragile if you want something more traditionally NIN, but still kind of modern. Ghosts for ambient. Or just disregard all this and start with The Downward Spiral if you want to jump straight in to Trent at his musical peak.
Then you can listen to PHM and all his other EPs, live albums, other halos n shit.
Each one of your eyelids
Honestly, the Fragile is your best bet; then Broken and TDS.
>ayo Em, you regret throwing your support behind Manson yet?
Nah. He mighta had a coupla screws up inis head lose but
..:it's no worse than what goes onin your parents bedroom
>PHM aged like shit
Some songs did, but overall the album still holds, head like a hole and something I can never have are the shit
Man, PHM is what got me into NIN recently. The album is 10/10 I can listen to it front to back without skipping a track. Same can't be said of the other albums. It's all matter of taste though.
broken is nice and short
Sin. Hell even something like Down In It doesn't sound that out of place with all the knock off 80s pop recently
Reznor needs to record it with his stronger voice, update the sound altogether. Pino era Sanctified deserves a studio recording.
>The Slip is more accesible than WIth_Teeth
What the fuck
Unless you give a shit about Trent or unfucking your life, With Teeth, other than Right Where It Belongs, is probably best avoided.
The Slip is a good intro to post-Fragile NIN; it does all of the different NIN sounds and themes, but just a little.
Is there a halfway decent compilation of live versions of the songs on PHM? I love the studio ones, but it would fit better with the rest of early stuff if it had guitars.
Woodstock 94
>In order of most accessible to least accessible
jesus, that's terribly off
Fuck NIN.
fpwp
Trent can't hear you over the sold out shows, millions of dollars and a happy family
the fragile
