because to them everything is all about image and accessibility. try showing a normie remotely challenging or inaccessible music, most of the time they will hate it, because it's "weird" without being able to explain why they actually feel that way. to them, music is like pop corn. they don't think about it at all, they just digest

Because it gives them a higher value in the sexual marketplace. By pretending to be audiophiles, they have access to a niche group of men who will inevitably chase after them. It's the same reason that women pretend to be gamers, sports fans, movie buffs, etc, etc. Few women have real interests outside of their own self-image.
